Lost Theories
Submitted by Ian Robinson

I'm not sure if this has been touched on previously, but I don't think so.  What I have found most interesting about the season so far is the extent the show has gone to outline the importance of the "Oceanic Six", and this thought got me thinking.  My theory involves Sawyer, as I would like to go out on another limb and say that Sawyer too made it off of the Island, but that Jack and the others (minus Kate, most likely) are unaware of this.  This sort of scenario would be the Season Finale type blockbuster that Lost has become famous for.

If Sawyer made it off the island, it would explain not only the times when Kate disappears, but it would also explain her conversation (on the phone), when she says "I can stay for about an hour" (or something to that effect).  Furthermore, if Jack discovers this secret, that might be what Kate is referring to in the flash-forward in the Season Finale of Season 3 when she says "he'll be wondering where I am."  Now, I am quite aware that this could be Aaron she's speaking of, but at the age he's at I don't think he's yet going to be necessarily concerned with her whereabouts.  She's not likely to leave Aaron home alone, and at that time of night, someone has to be watching him at the house.

My guess: Sawyer.

I think that Sawyer was able to get into the Orchid Station and was able to teleport off the island just like Ben does. I think that Kate's favor to Sawyer is that she is his Constant. I think Kate fibbed a little to Jack when she told him that it had nothing to do with their relationship because Kate is probably having an affair with Sawyer when he teleports back to the mainland.

Kali, I have no idea where you got that theory from, but it's interesting. The only thing is, there seems to be more than one type of time travel at work. Desmond's mind is able to move about while his body does not, but Ben seems to have done it in a way that moves his body and mind as one package, a la Back to the Future. So I'm guessing that Ben doesn't need a constant in the way Desmond does.

I tend toward the theory that the person Kate was speaking with on the phone is Cassidy, since both Kate and Sawyer know her. Cassidy would have found out about the Oceanic 6 and probably also knows Sawyer was "killed" in the plane crash. She may have contacted Kate to tell her that Clemetine is Sawyer's daughter.

Don't forget that Kate knows Clementine's mom.

IF Sawyer asked her to give her a message, or something, as soon as they met they would likely become friends again.

It's not Sawyer that Kate is talking to. Far out theory, but no go. It's likely Cassidy as has already been stated.

No constant is needed for "teleporting".

Sawyer stays on the island or gets killed.

I don't know McKay - these writers are famous for misdirection. Now granted, many people assumed Michael was the spy on the boat long before the reveal, so that wasn't such a misdirection, but this is intriguing.

I heard that there will be a blockbuster kiss in the finale and that the finale would not involve flashforwards or flashbacks - but instead would be more normal and linear - yet still explosive. This is exactly the type of scenario that would surprise, be linear, involve a kiss, and greatly deepen the love quadrangle for the season to come. Can't say it's that far our - good thinking Ian, IMO

Sawyer can't die. Too many women would stop watching.

Couldn't Jack's downward spiral in his flash forwards have something to do with the realization that he loves Kate and Kate goes for Sawyer? After all, LOST isn't totally sci fi, it's also about human drama.

I appreciate your theory as it is plausible. That certainly would stick with Sawyer's character, not wanting the lime light because he is a con man and has enemies. That being said, haven't we seen Sawyer change moralistically? He killed his father, he got his revenge on Tom Friendly, but lately he is a kinder, gentler Sawyer. Can't he go about living the straight life now? I think Sawyer going straight and narrow has to happen because that is the redemption the writers have set up for him. If the survivors of 815 got millions (from the airlines, if it was hush money from Widmore/Ben then never mind) the families of the dead would have received millions as well. Perhaps Sawyer has become Earl from the show "My Name is Earl" and wants Kate to settle up with all the people he scammed essentially righting the wrongs he inflicted using the money his heirs should have inherited from the disaster.

I'm sick of hearing about Saywer is dead theories when there has been no evidence to suggest he dies, so thanks again for offering a solid and viable theory.

Uh has anyone been to this page b4 http://thehansofoundation.org/ so what does this mean? anyone kno?

Sawyer doesn't die. I read a link today about people who survive. Sawyer is one of them but stays on the island.

ian
what link did you read about the survivers? i would love to read it.
thanks!! im with everyone else it would truly be a huge disappointment
if Sawyer was killed off im still hoping everyone that is left behind
was alive and gets rescued, wishful thinking i know.

Are people still thinking that Ben teleported when he went in his closet in "Shape of things to Come?" Since Ben himself says to Widmore that he's trying to get back to the island, doesn't it make more sense that the island kicked him off? The island has chosen Locke as the New Ben, and discarded Ben.

Plus, this all happens at a different time than Ben summoning the Smoke Monster. Ben didn't dissappear to Iraq, recruit Sayid, then zip back to his house in time to watch Smokey attack.

I'm not really sure about Sawyer is dead theory because last night i read somewhere that Sawyer and Locke are both alive on the island.Like Ian I used to believe that Kate is reffering to Sawyer in the Sea.3 finale but when all the Oceanic 6 revealed and Sawyer is not one of it, I never think about it anymore. But Ian theory make sense and I think Sawyer somehow made it off the island too later. Kate stay with him after Jack knows Kate is doing a favor for him. I dunno but that's what i think.

I believe in billy theory too that Ben didn't telported himself. I think he just summoned Smokey in the closet.

Since someone mentioned constants, here's my thoughts. When Ben told Locke that he must survive the attack in the shape of things to come, it occurred to me in that moment that Locke must be Ben's constant. Am I off?

am i the only one who thinks that the 'oceanic six' act as bens constant?
