Thanks to James for letting us know about this!  Damon and Carlton appeared on Preston and Steve and unleashed a Dharma van-load full of information about tonight's episode, and even a few bits about season four!  Well worth listening to!  The clip is available on Preston and Steve's Website.  Preston and Steve also do some highly entertaining episode recaps every Thursday morning.  Click on for some of the spoilers from the broadcast.

  • The four toed statue is very very important but wont be addressed till season 4.
  • Walt or Michael will make an appearance by the end of this season.
  • One two or three people may die.  just thought u'd like to know.
  • Someone (an other) will be BLOWN UP in the finale.
  • The story is winding down.  They consider themselves past the mid point.

The four toed statue jives with a rumor that has been circulating about "The Ruins" being the big set for season four.  This came about when I was talking to one of my buddies on "The Island" and asked what the big set for season four would be (The caves for s1, the swan for s2, hydra island for s3.)  He said "Depending on how things go with ABC there is a rumor it will be 'The Ruins'."

WOW! if that is true season four is going to be just as good if not better than other series. i hope sayid is there to see it!

maybe since the island speeds up the healing process maybe it also speeds up evolution on the island too, maybe the statue was made by descendants of the black rock ship wreck who over a process of the past couple of hundred years of evolution have in the process lost one of there toes,to aid in swimming, seems far fetched but it might be true, and since DHARMA came to the island the others haven't been able to reproduce due to the virus dharma released!

Walt n micheal have to come back thay dissapeared for how long 2 weeks? micheal should go rambo on da other with siayd n jin.

lost rules

i think michael and walt might come back and michael will kill the main chararcter who darlton talked about.

the producers have said that michael will not be back for the finale so i reckon itl b walt.

Preston and Steve Show is the greatest radio show in this country. I am from Philly and they are the reason why just about all of Philly are LOST "phanatics". Every thursday after a new ep. they recap and ponder ideas from listeners calling in. They are the reason I am addicted to LOST. They podcast their show on Itunes and also for people who dont use itunes. prestonandsteve.libsyn.com for manual download. As they say, just give them of week and hopefully you will be hooked. GADZOOKS!!

Your welcome, Doc! I would expect to see Walt over michael within the next few episodes, or so they made it seem.

A while ago on Dark's site it was rumored that Malcom was in Hawaii filming some scenes...guess it's true.

If season 4 is the last season, it sucks that we finally get to learn all about the island and the core of the mysteries since we have so little time to enjoy and process them. Either way I'm siked and I think I'll go into a coma for about 8 months until it comes back on the air.

Maybe the four-toed statue was just a mistake in artistry and never finished.

Hmmm. This brings up so many questions! LOL.

Walt ....

Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse said they would explain Walt/Malcolm's growth.

Walt is back, but can we assume *not* Michael?

If only Walt is back, and he is "older", then WTF??

Could Walt = Jacob?

Questions, questions...

Maybe that wasn't Walt who left with Michael.

which show is the show with the interview on

This mornings show...05/02/07

If you go back a few they also have interviews with Terry O'Quinn (2/3times)), Michael Emmersion, Matt Fox, Dominic Monaghan, M.C. Gainey (Tom), and Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (twice).

I don't usually post, but I feel the need to relay a conversation that I had with an old college roommate, who was an art history major. She said that it was really common in ancient art (Babylonian, etc.) to only draw people with four toes. I can't remember why. Any thoughts on this?

I just read an article from TV Guide at DarkUFO that said that "Richard is just getting started pulling the strings. But you'll see what I mean by that next week." Could this mean that Richard is Jacob??? I was struck by this article so I thought I'd put it out there.

michael and walt definitely never made it off the island, I think that's a given. Reasons?
1)Walt wouldn't leave without Vincent
2)Michael is an idiot
3)Desmond couldn't sail away
4)Michael is an idiot
5)Ben would never let them leave so easily

However, having Walt come back would be very hard to pull off, he looks more like Greg Oden nowadays than a 10 year old kid.

To bdub:
Richard would be Richard Alpert, wouldn't it? The guy who recruited Juliet, along with Ethan.

I posted this to the who will die thread earlier...

**speculation warning**

I've got it. During the break between movies, Harold Perrineau (Michael), filmed one scene in secret for the lost producers which will wrap up his story. Here is the scene:

He shows up and is immediately killed before revealing an important truth about the island. The question that will captivate us for 8 months is "who killed him and why."

Quigley, that's the only Richard that I can think of. It gave the actor's name but I can't remember what it was, but it is the character Richard and not his real name.

Also, on the Michael/Walt front. If Michael did appear it would be a shock becuase it was reported that Michael turned down a chance to be in the finale this season. My money would be on Walt with some kind of open explanation that could leave the door open for Michael to return but also give doubt that he is alive.

HAHA, Huge lol @ Supa's last post.

DO you remember at the end of the season 2 finale when Ben said "We got more than we bargained when Walt decided to join us" I always wondered what he meant when he said that. I don't the the real Walt ever left the island.

Ok, so if Walt is somehow in the final episode, how will the writers explain his age? He must look older by now.

TabulaRasa, I think that is very good theory.

Michael needs to pay for what he did to Libby and Ana-Lucia.

Ben is the man behind the curtain.

People age quicker on the island, that's how it will be explained, I hope.

My guess then, TabulaRasa, it will be WAAAALLLTTT! that kills Michael, due to ALL the father issues.

Maybe Alpert was a fictious name he used on Juliet in the outside world and his real name is Richard Jacob.

That's right A3OLIAN...
That's the women can't get pregnant...the fetuses don't evolve normally...Cycle of life is screwed on the Island
Don't be too hard on Mike...He had to do what he had to..plus peolpe didn't really care about AnaLu..

Who is Richard???

Is it Alpert???

Yes Richard Alpert - Mittelos Bioscience Corporation
Maybe it's really Richard Jacobs
As in Jacobs's list - double plural

I think the division among the 815ers is going to boil down to two groups. The group who wants to leave the island (Jack, Sayid, Juliet, Desmond) and the group who wants to remain on the island (Sawyer, Kate, Locke, Hurley)

I always thought that it would be crazy if Walt, for whatever reason, ended up killing Micheal. Kinda twisted, but ironic; The very thing that Micheal killed for in order to save ends up killing him in the end.

Come to think about both the writters(in podcast) and Harold Perrineau(on Jimmy Kimmel) seemed to go out of the way to mention he wont be back.

Suddenly I am suspiciuos about this, mainly do to reading the postings on here...

First off just about every actor says after they are off the show that they would love to come back. I even think Harold mentioned this when he first left and was doing the talk show circuit.

Also it was mentioned by Darlton that the story line was not over. That eventually we would find out what happened to them. If they ever made it off the island, or where have they been.

Of course Walt is likely more important to the story line. I think the reason Perrineau was pissed off, was because he didnt want to come back to just be killed.
It's somthing that could be taken care of with easy dialouge: Jack- "Where is your father?" Walt- "They busted a cap in his ass fool! Now it's your turn."

If Perrineau did come back, just to be killed- He would have to be pretty tight liped about it. Maybe even go as far as "acting" pissed at the show, he is an actor afterall.

So far everyone has wanted off the island. Loooks like season 4 will be about getting into the island. That might be the reason for the 815's split into to two groups- Those who want to stay and those who want to leave.

They 4 toe statue has to elude to the original inhabitants of the island. People that the island was harmonius with. Someone from Dharma found out about this place. Then killed all the four toe people. And they have been trying to harness the power of the island ever since(unharmoniously).

I thought the death count was going to be 5? So just Charlie and an "other" and maybe one more? If Michael is already dead, does that count as one?

I hope they dont blow Ben up. Juliet could sit on a bomb to save lives. But i think she'd only do it if Ben was already dead. Not too many "others" that would be an option, except maybe "Patchy". Hmmmm, actually Alex would be an intersting death too.

I'm still for five seasons with a mini-series ending after the 5th.

Piecing together info from various sources:
1) from the production stills of "The Brig" that Doc posted a couple of weeks ago we know that Danielle will appear at/in the Black Rock tonight.
2) From TV Guide: And somebody else shows up to pilfer some of its dynamite (Danielle)
3) From this morning's Philly Podcast: Someone (an other) will be BLOWN UP in the finale.
The way I add these three items: Danielle pilfers dynamite from the Black Rock and BLOWS UP Ben in the finale' (for taking Alex and raising her as his own). One death and the circumstances surrounding it solved!

I didn't bother to read all the posts. But maybe Walt was in the aircraft with the parachute girl.

Maybe the statue lost a toe from an IED in Iraq like me.. Wouldn't that be weird.

Ok, I got halfway thru the posts and figured it out. ;)
Walt will look older because he WAS off the island. Time is frozen on the island and that's why pregnancy doesn't work out.It also kinda explains why they're still alive but the helicopter chick said the wreckage was found with no survivors. They're all suspended in time, but not in purgatory. I just haven't worked out how Ben has aged since birth while being on the island.

I think it is going to very interesting how they explain walt's aging. when they do we will finally find out what exactly is going on with time on this island( at least somewhat..haha) I would love for jacob to be Walt. but if i have to hear michael one more time whine: but, he's my son!!

i think i will go insane...

He's my son!!!!

Someone mentioned the 4 toed statue and art......

Sometimes in painting and sculpture, figures are painted/sculpted with only four toes or fingers. Sometimes its hard to make 5 look right and it actually looks like there's too many fingers/toes.

I thought the comment about Richard pulling the strings was interesting too...........But I really just can't see Richard being Jacob.

Michael (or at least Harold Perrineau) stumbles onto the beach and looks majorly shocked and disorientated.

The survivors rush up to him and shout questions at him.

"Michael, where have you been?!"

Then Michael says:

"I'm not Michael...I'm Walt."

Fucking shocker at the end of the season!

I can't see Richard as Jacob either, but he is seemingly the only one that can get off of and on to the island at will, unless there are two Richards.

It's weird, but when me and my husband were watching the episode where they showed the statue my husband automatically said it was ruins from a story or a city where the people there were building this staue with 4 toes. one foot was suppose to be on one island and the other foot on the island next. But for some reason the people never finished making this statue, i think because they had a war or something....i will have to ask him again because i can't remember the details, sorry.

The ruins? I like the sound of that!

LiLi, it sounds like your husband was thinking of the common misconception about the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

oooh ok. ummm does that take it off the list then? lol

I'd figure that Richard Alpert's "pulling strings" refers to him making moves to usurp Ben's position/authority. I doubt he'd be the all-powerful Jacob since Ben was ordering him around in The Man from Tallahassee and in One of Us.

And if Jacob=Richard...well, that's lame. People don't take sinister men in eye makeup seriously.

Just the mention of 'The Ruins' gave my heart a little flutter. Just that much and I'm already anticipating Season 4 as the best yet.

The Ruins...un-freakin-believable...

Richard Alpert as Jacob? Meh. That'd be kind of a let-down . He seems too minor and inconsequential. Also I remember somewhere along the way Darlton saying Jacob would be someone we had never seen before. I really hope so, because any Jack is Jacob, Walt is Jacob theories just smell like Jumping the Shark to me...

I agree brother, Preston and Steve are my lifes blood in the morning and they are the best thing to ever happen to Philly!! GADZOOKS

Damon and Carlton have said that Jacob is someone that we have not seen yet...so it is not Richard Alpert.

When did they say this? My recollection is they avoided the question and left it abiguous. The only thing they confirmed is that he is not Billy Dee Williams.

I just have to admit from gusteaux's post that it does sound like mabye Bens got to worry about being blown up and soon. In tonites episode he messed with Locke and you dont wanna do tht unless ur in for it. My guess would be he is blown up in the finale by Danielle or she tries to blow him up and kills another important other insted.

*Speculation Alert*

Anyone thought that this may not in fact be an island, but instead the LOST city of Atlantis. The mythology, four toed statue, just seems like it could all fit together but I am not the one to get into all the little details. In tonights episode they mentioned the island could not be seen from the helicopter until the light was just right, made me think that it was not above the water and instead maybe below. Any thoughts?

the clouds had to break just right to see the island, but the coordinates led Naomi to open water. Point being, the island isn't in the same place as it was a few weeks ago when the hatch did whatever it did.

I still haven't figured out how a plane from Nigeria would end up in the middle of the Pacific.

The wreckage of 815 was found on the other side of Australia off of Bali, so they could just as easily be in the Indian Ocean as the Pacific. It would make more sense considering the Nigerian Beechcraft and the Slave trader.

1+2=?

The satellite phone thingy was interesting...

The Big H says: "Is that like a radio?"

Sawyer says: "It's like a radio, yes, but I've never seen equipment this sophisticated".

Now, why would he say that? It just seemed an odd thing to say.

Then, later, we seem him futzing around with it on the beach. (Always a good place to be taking apart delicate, sophisticated electronics.) And we see the thing, and sure enough, the thing does indeed look sophisticated.

Too sophisticated. Even by Hollywood prop standards, this thing is the iPhone of the satellite phone world. Slick design with a touch panel, context-sensitive display? For a sat phone used for the rugged job that is search and rescue? Maybe in 5 years time.

So, maybe, just maybe, Naomi belongs to a world a few years from now.

Maybe Naomi belongs to the same world/dimension/phase that the Monk and the Antiques Lady belong to? Maybe Naomi is a Watcher?

an other gets blown up

...and Rousseau came to the Black Rock for dynamite.

Everyone that likes Ben has worried that he won't survive the attack the Others wage with the camp. He'll survive only to shock many by meeting a much more explosive fate.

Preston & Steve are the reason why I watch the show...I became a big fan of their show, because they are hilarious, and they always talked about it each week. I had to see what was up, and here I am after two devoted seasons still on the edge of my seat.

Interesting theory. Perhaps a depression in the middle of the ocean that can only be seen from a certain angle.

Maybe 325 degrees from true north?

The actor who plays Richard Alpert has been in a lot of TV shows, some movies, and is a relatively big name by TV show standards. He could easily be Jacob, because it is unlikely he would come on to Lost just to be Ben's peon. He must have a fairly significant part to play in the episodes to come.

just had the same flash 2 days ago about atlantis. Where the statue is set is kind of an odd place. seems to me if you decided to construct a monument you will put it somewhere to be seen. not next to the beach that will ultimatly be eroding. i think that what we have come to know as the islands are actualy the tip of the lost city of Atlantis

To Tabula Rasa,

I like the point that the island is in the Indian Ocean, as there are a zillion islands between the Malay Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent, outside of trade routes and as tropical as any in the Pacific. Which brings us to a very interesting coincidence. On Dec. 28 2004 a magnitude 9 earthquake epicentred on Aceh created a tsunami that engulfed one tropical paradise after another in the approximate area the island would be if the plane was blown off course towards the east as it was flying to Los Angeles. The supposed date on the island is Dec. 21 2004. I guess we'll know soon enough if they were near the Andaman/Nicobar groups as there will suddenly be a whole lot of deck chairs and parasols washing up on the beach just in time for the New Year's BBQ.

Could Jacob be Jack? Or is Jacob a doppelganger of Jack?

Kick ass episode!!! You all obviously agree so big-ups to sawyer for chainin his long sought nemesis. I kinda like stig's and tabula's line of thought. Big fan of the depression in the ocean, its so hatchy its pure brillance, might even be true... ;-) Im on the fence as to wether the island moves. On one hand it could be a fantastic writing device/concept but on the other it just seems a little too fantasy (Anyone remember that floating animal/island thing from DnD's 2nd edition Monster Manual?) I was gonna write a story using that in 97 and call it 'Where am I... and who are you?'. Note to self 'Write every story idea completely and immediately' Anyways the only other thing I can think of has to do with the 'masking effect' of the island. Obviously the physics are different there. The coordinates from the end of season 2 could be correct, because the electro magnetic signal had to 'travel' a little way to be recieved properly by the listening team, ie the signal had to travel thu the 'masking effect' and the coordinates' spot is where the signal passed thru the 'effects'' barrier. There has to be a barrier or the whole world would share the same principles and viola, the special island becomes nothing but another rock of dirt surrounded by water. Cant wait for next few weeks, I got the shakes. I think Ive become addicted to stuff blowing up and they didnt give me my fix this week...

If the island turns out to be a kind of switch station for different timelines, I think it's possible that Jacob might be another Jack. Or he might be another Christian.

I think the statue is a god. The Island is a devine place. Smokey i some sort of devine creature/god. Humans arent supose to be there, thats why the pregnant women are dying

How about this?:

1) The rumored 5 deaths includes Walt (and/or Michael).

2) "Blown Up" does not mean via explosion. Don't forget about the show's frequent use of air balloons. Could "blown up" mean in a hot air balloon? Perhaps a certain man with persistent connections to the Wizard of Oz?

Season 4 of lost will contain flashes of the past, present and future. Walt will make an important appearance and use his 'special powers' to help with the war against the 3rd group. The thrid group is an extremely evil group who have been prevented by getting to the others and the survivers by the monster. The others and the survivers will join forces and battle against the 3rd group. The otheres are actually good guys. Naomi and the people on the boat belong to the 3rd evil group!
