Lost Easter Eggs
The latest Lost mobisode, entitled "Jack, Meet Ethan. Ethan? Jack," really raises some interesting questions about events within the series.  While my wish to see Arzt in each and every mobisode didn't come true, it's always nice to have the creepy and mysterious Ethan Rom back.  As you can tell from the title, these two minutes cover the first time that Jack and Ethan met, and their friendly banter left me with a lot of thoughts swimming in my head.

The mobisode kicks off with Jack searching through bags, on the hunt for some useful medicine.  Ethan shows up, introduces himself, and shows him a case full of all the pills a doctor on a mysterious island could hope for.  Ethan claims he found the case in the jungle, and tells Jack that he's glad someone is thinking of the long term.  He also points out how unrealistic it is that the other castaways are still waiting for rescue.

Claire is standing on the beach, pregnant as ever, and Ethan mentions that he knows Jack is thinking he may have to deliver that baby.  Jack replies that it's nice to know he's not alone in not expecting rescue, and Ethan replies with the humorous zing, "You're definitely not alone."  Ah, so true.  Jack says that if Claire does go into labor Ethan can be his assistant, but Ethan looks away as if he's troubled by this notion.  Jack apologizes, but Ethan gets up to leave.

"Jack, my wife died in childbirth," Ethan admits, "and our baby didn’t make it either.  Well, let’s hope we’re both wrong and the rescue boats are on the way right now."

And so the mobisode ends, leaving us with tons of questions.  The first question is, of course, whether or not Ethan was lying about his wife and baby dying.  I'm thinking he's not, mainly due to what we know happens to pregnant women on the island.  If he really did have a dead wife and baby, it would also explain his obsession with Claire.

My other big query is just what is contained in the magical pill box that Ethan "found in the jungle" and gave to Jack.  Those pills could have been tainted in some way, and the castaways have been relying on them since they first arrived on the island.  Another possibility is that Ben gave the pills to Ethan as a way to ingratiate himself among the castaways and they're not tainted at all.  The latter option is probably more likely, but I'd still feel a little weird popping pills that came from an Other.

Overall, this was a pretty great mobisode.  I enjoy the ones that leave us with some questions to ponder, and any chance to see a long dead Other is always great.  However, I still say beware of those pills.

well said Doc. Can't wait to see what you got for us.

I visit Doc and I visit TTS. Both are good and have different material. I'll support TTS as long as you guys have it going. I'm fine with a few links to buddy tv. Doc did it every once in a while why shouldn't you? Not site is perfect, not even Docs new one, so give Don and crew a break.

Exactly Jimbo... none of the LOST websites are perfect, but each site can serve its own function.

TTS is a fun place to go for friendly discussion and some fun tidbits. I like it here, it's usually very friendly...

except when the trolls come out to 'play'.

yeah that's what I'm saying. Plus I never go to buddytv so any links I see here I've not seen before.

I reckon that the pills prevented the infection from coming to the beachcamp, which would explain why none of the castaways have gotten 'sick'... and The Others would obviously give them to the castaways, 'cos he wanted some of them... if not, all of them...

And, that's why The Others haven't gotten 'sick.'
Just a thought =]
