Highlights

Carlton and Damon answer questions from fans by calling them on the podcast.  The questions and answers are paraphrased here.  Be sure to listen to get the whole thing.

Question from Daphne:  Was there a plan from the beginning concerning the (dreaded) love triangle?
Answer:   They have agreed on who Kate will ultimately end up with, but the story is definitely not over.  Also, confirmation that the flashforward was not the end of the

Question from Daphne:  Will Jack's journey back to the island change the future.
Answer:  No.  The future is set.  Time travel will still be a motif, but the rules are outlined in "Flashes Before Your Eyes."  In other words, even though they didn't say it, Doc is cleared to adapt his time loop theory to his own work of fiction. Yay!

Question from Caleb:  On Richard Alpert, will he be coming back or cut out.
Answer:  They admit sort of making a mistake in not nailing him down.  So the show will adapt around the availability of Carbonell.   His character is essentially parked.  Cane is produced by ABC, so they do have some leverage, but availability is an issue.

The question of Nikki and Paulo is brought up.  There was an arc planned, but they ditched it when they saw fan reaction.  They are dead. Permanently.

Is Kate pregnant?  We will know by the "Ides of March."

Mikhail is dead, but he may be back for flashback episodes.

That was it.  As a gesture,  bringing fans on to ask questions and chat was the real highlight for us manic fans, the information was, aside from blowing my time loop theory out of the water, pretty plain.

Did I miss the "thrilling announcement?"

" Mikhail is dead".....Damn, thought he survived the blast.....

While all of this was interesting I didn't pick out anything as being thrilling, either.

I find the announcement that Nikki and Paulo are definetly dead and gone for good pretty thrilling

I didn't mind Nikki and Paolo so much. They were pretty useless but I think it was that way because of the backlash, I think if the writers had been able to continue their plan they would have turned into key characters. I know this will not be popular, but I was disappointed that we won't get to see whatever they had planned for Nikki and Paolo.

I agree, I thought Nikki and Paolo were alright. I guess fans had a hard time accepting new potential key-characters as just coming to the forefront. I think the foreshadowing "Things don't stay burried on the island for long" was brilliant, and the Nikki/Paolo episode was well-written.I think it didn't fit much with the season, but it was well-written.

I thought that the news that Cuselof likes Juliet was interesting. She is on my short list of characters that may not make it through the season.

I think the thought that Nestor Carbonell may still be able to reprise his role is the "thrilling" anouncement

So does anyone know if Cane has been picked up for a full season.  I wish Nestor Carbonell the best, but I hope that show bombs and then Lindeluse can make him a full time cast member.  Seems Ben's time as leader is just about over (even though he's great), if Locke doesn't take it, maybe Alpert can.

I am also interested by a potential story about how Mikhail lost his eye.

so docarzt from what youve seen of it and whats its up agaisnt do you see it being cancelled really hope so as dont no if could do without the Richard Alpert story not being completed.

I think we did see nikki & paolo's plan, it was just condensed into 1 episode.

tabularasa- juliet is on the short list of characters who has something to go back to in the real world (along with sayid & maybe hurley), so there's no way they're killing her, or hurley or sayid for that matter.

Nestor Carbonell and the exec producers of Cane are cool with Carbonell doing work on Lost.  But CBS network president Nina Tassler is against the idea.  So...anyone up to a fan campaign - letter-writing? petition? sugar packets? - to persuade her otherwise?  Hey, if sending nuts could get Jericho uncancelled, I think the Lost fandom can manage this.

(I've seen the pilot of Cane and really liked it, so I'd like both Richard Alpert and Uncle Frank, thank you very much.)

DocArzt,

What do you mean by "Certainly, as I've preached previously, it's not so much a Nina Tassler issue as it is a Nestor Carbonell issue.  With him establishing himself as a lead, it will become more a matter of whether he allows business to get between him and the Lost fans."?  Nestor Carbonell has already said he'd appear again on Lost, if he was approached.  At the time, he hadn't been approached, and that's when Nina Tassler went on record to nix the idea.  How is is not a Nina Tassler issue?

Also, you just agreed that Cane was good in one comment and said it was not good in another.  So which is how you feel?

(I didn't think the writing was bad per se, so much that the pilot focused on perhaps one too many subplots.  But, yeah, the acting's amazing.  It does star Nestor Carbonell, after all.  What do you mean by "invaded by high concept", though?)

Did I here Carlton correct when he said that Richard Alpert was in Episode 1 ?  Did he mean Season 1 Episode 1 ?????
