ABC has finally announced their midseason schedule, and what has long been rumored is now official: Lost will no longer be airing on Wednesday nights.  The show will be kicking off its fourth season on Thursday, January 31, at 9pm.  There are eight episodes of the series currently completed, and though Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse didn't want them to air until the writers' strike was resolved, ABC is going ahead regardless.

It seems that ABC has moved the drama all over the schedule since it first premiered, and I'm starting to get a bit of whiplash.  I wasn't a huge fan of the show airing at 10pm on Wednesdays, as that's a bit late in the night for a series that requires hours of thought afterwards.  I often found myself awake into the wee hours of the morning, just thinking up theories and pondering whatever events transpired in that night's episode.  At least with the 9pm slot I'll get a bit more sleep.

The schedules for the other networks aren't yet set in stone, but it looks like Lost will be competing with new episodes of The Apprentice and Don't Forget the Lyrics, as well as reruns of CSI.  There's no question what most of America will be watching.

YES! 9PM! THURSDAY!

Thank you, Abc!

Not as good as wendesday 9pm, but still, I love this time slot!

hey, its better than feb 4th/6th. whatever they were originally planning! If I had it my way it would be starting tonight!

The only downside is that it the writer's strike will have less time to resolve. If we are hoping to get any additional episodes beyond the original 8, they'll have to start production a week or so sooner than expected since they've bumped up the premiere date.

Still, can't wait for season 4!

I think we've reached a point where we can pretty much say "Goodbye" to any hopes of the strike resolving in time to allow shows to return to production. Things would have to move lightning fast for a resolution, then the WGA would have to approve it and all that paperwork before production could resume. On the bright side, it means Lost is going to kill its competition in the ratings and, because there's no DH or Grey's or even DWTS or Bachelor for most or all of Lost's airings, ABC will be able to put every last dime of promotion into this season.

^^I agree John, seeing as if they get the contact all done, they would have to re-hire the entire crew, right? I thought thats what I read, everyone got laid-off. I would love it to be resolved, but I dont expect it to happen.

jack......kate......jin.....sun....hurley......sayid..........

I'm really pumped about this time slot, but I do wish ABC had respected DL and CC's wishes that they'd wait until after the writers strike to air them... I don't want my "Half a Harry Potter Novel." I want the whole thing at once!

I'm confused... the ABC website has the start date as reading: February 1st... but everyone else is reporting January 31st. Can someone clarify this for me? Thanks!

Los Angeles (AP) 121407 release says January 31st 9PM Eastern Time Yeah! Also says, whether or not it's able to air more than 8 episodes...should worse come to worse RE: strike there will be a "Mini cliffhanger" WooHoo!

PS: 020108 is a Friday. Set Tivo for Thurs 013108 :-)

what about the premiere party? Is the new time slot going to affect the premiere party that was supposed to be on feb. 2nd?

Karen

I'm with you Karen, I'd love to hear about the premiere party on the beach too... I've been waiting to make flight reservations from Pennsylvania so that I can go to this party.. I'm anxiously awaiting any info/tidbits about it.
