Wow, the inanity never ends. It is absolutely true, thank god, that Kristin Bell will be joining the cast of my other Favorite show, Heroes. What is not true, as it is being reported everywhere, is that Kristen Bell chose Heroes over Lost. Simply. Not. True. The part Bell was offered for Lost was a full time regular position. I'm not sure of episode counts, and the people who are sure aren't going to tell us, but there was without a doubt a commitment involved or Bell would never have mentioned a problem with the move to Hawaii.
If you follow the story back to its source on Variety.com, it is very clear that Bell just barely made it onto Heroes. In Heroes' showrunner Tim Kring's own words:
“This was not easy to pull off, but since we're an ensemble show, with many arcs playing out through the year, we found a way to jump into a small window in [Bell's] schedule.”
If anything, this further illustrates why Bell did not accept a role on Lost, she is simply too committed to other projects, at this time, to take one on that is going to require her to travel great distances to uphold her other commitments.
None-the-less, I surely hope that Lost's interest in Bell is steadfast. With three more seasons to go, there is no reason why the former Veronica Mars girl couldn't turn up in another guest or recurring role.

omg I know! I'm glad as a Lost fan you're able to admit you like Heroes, because some Lost fans are rabid Heroes-haters. I am also a Heroes fan. Yes, its nowhere near as good as Lost, but after Lost, its far and beyond the next best drama on TV. While I've never seen Veronica Mars, I like Edward Mars, so that counts for something. She said she didn't want to go to Hawaii, its not like she lied because she was soooo excited to do a few-episode arc on Heroes. She must've been something on VM though, to be courted by Lost AND Heroes.

So she DID *CHOOSE* Heroes over Lost, but not because of the shows themselves, but because of her roles in each of them.

I too am a fan of both shows, i have never seen VM, but it would seem Miss Bell must certainly be something else to get offered roles in two big dramas like these. What next? BSG? 24?
I agree with the article, if she was looking for a role with less commitment involved then a small role on Heroes would be much better suited than a recurring role on Lost in Hawaii.

Who cares if she's going to be on LOST or not? You make it sound like she's some goddess, gifted, genius actress? If LOST calls for a part for a young blonde twenty-something, then there's only a billion out there that fit the bill. Why do we need her in another season, or as a guest? What's she done to deserve a part over anyone else?
TV should be about casting FOR roles, not GIVING roles to actors 'cos they're the flavour of the hour.

Agreed Michael. Who cares? If they need a hot blonde actress it's not like she's the only one in the pool. Big f'in deal.

let me ask everyone something: who the f**k cares? seriously, did anyone ever actually watch Veronica Mars? I know I didn't, and judging frm how quickly the show got cancelled, I would venture to say that she's not that great of an actress.
So hooray that INSERT NAME OF WOMAN HERE isn't on Lost!
God, we need some real news here people. At least knowing that Libby and Michael's stories are actually going to continue in Season 4 is good news.

Hey everyone, give the Doc a break. It's already hard enough as it is to publish stuff during this slow news period. He's just excited that there is information between two of his favorite shows.
Posted By sk8rpro | August 21, 2007 11:49 AM
I'll second that sk8. I frequent a lot of other various boards for information and conjecture (more so during the hiatus) and while some sit dormant during the wait, The TailSection not only keeps updating whenever possible, it even changes colors.
@SteveH: That's kind of like saying "I chose the apartment over the mansion" while ignoring the issue of finance.
@Michael: Two things really... people's opinions differ, neh? Yours isn't really the deciding factor in all things.
As far as 'flavour of the hour': that plays a large role in all things entertainment. While both Heroes and Lost are good shows, I don't think either is above eye candy or the like to boost ratings. Whether you like the show the actor or actress is coming from, they'll still bring a following if there is one.
@verinon: Felicity lost it's following due to a hair cut. Family Guy, Arrested Development, Firefly... who knows how many Fox shows that were actually good got cancelled. It happens for a lot of reasons.

I agree with Michael Dobrofsky... if adding a nice blonde on Lost would have the same result as "Exposé" please choose a ugly brunette !
Since Season 3 was over I've been watching many many tv series... Prison Break, 24, Heroes, 4400. I have to say Heroes is probably the worst among all.
Prison Break is a nice show... 24 too.
Sometimes I feel like I'm betrayin Lost... am I ?

By watching 24 and Prison Break, yes Diego, you ARE betraying Lost.
And all intelligent people everywhere....
