Yeah... I definitely spotted a scar on him. It's small, and kinda hard to see, but it's DEFINITELY there. There's only one shot you can really see it though... You can see it in the mirrors directly under his right hand (his left in the mirror). I took a snapshot of it, and uploaded it online here:

Kate has no reason to leave civilization to go back to the island. She needs a motive to go back. If she does something illegal for Sawyer then her motive for returning will be to live free on the island rather than go to jail. Kate will do something illegal and seek safety on the island permanently. As a side note, it appears Kate has been reduced to a lifeless pawn in this show whose only purpose is to be a dramatic vehicle to enhance Sawyer and Jack's characters. What happened to head strong independent Kate? Now we deal with bed hopping, boy crazy Kate. If Jack returns Aaron to the island, Kate's only excuse for not running away from relationships/problems will be taken away.
Jack offended the island gods according to Rose and that is why he is sick. The other school of thought is that the island wants to send Jack home because it needs him to do work there to keep the island safe. I think Rose is correct, not public opinion. IF Jack has upset the island by trying to remove people/rescue them then it will cause him to get sick and send him home. I think the island is trying to get rid of him. That way it sets up a redemption for Jack to return to the island and right his wrong. If the island sends him home, that doesn't set up the redemption story as powerfully. Look at how worried Locke and Ben were about falling out of favor with the island. The island IS trying to get rid of Jack.
Jack is time stuck? He was passed out when Juliet woke him up at the show opener. Kate then had to wake him up after he "passed out." The pain of an inflammed appendix will prevent you from sleeping and I'm pretty sure it won't cause you to repeatedly pass out. There is something going on here that is more than meets the eye. Jack's office calls him in the first flash forward and they say "I know how you are with your calender." Jack doesn't strike me as someone who is obsessive compulsive about his calendar, so the only possible motive I can see for Jack having issues with his calendar are either he can't grasp what year it is do to the island time problem or he is time stuck. Jack doesn't want to be put under during surgery because he is having problems coping with the time stuck sickness. IF you are put under you are going to be really confused as to where or what time you come out of it. He is having some issue and it isn't cause by a bad appendix.
Christian Shepard appears in the waiting area twice, once during the day and once at night. As the smoke detector did NOT beep the first time he saw Christian Sheppard, I think that Smokey had nothing to do with the detector malfunctioning. The low battery was nothing more than the writers giving Jack a reason to stumble upon his fathers ghost. Erica, the woman who interrupted Jack both times he saw Chrisitan, what are the odds of the same person barging in each time Christian tries to connect with Jack? To early to start the Erica works for Widmore campaign?
The Oceanic 6 are not dead. Hurley is just experiencing difficulties coping with seeing dead people, the trauma would be up there with adjusting to the time stuck issues. Trying to comprehend the incomprehensible will make you sick/crazy and Hurley has thought himself to the mental ward.
Your not supposed to raise him. Back to course correction issues that Desmond had. Is Claire supposed to raise Aaron? Is Aaron supposed to die? Is the adoptive family supposed to die? What if the island itself interfered with fate by crashing the plane. Everyone thinks the Losties were supposed to die and the island is course correcting for that, what if they weren't supposed to crash? What if all their problems would have been fixed if the plane landed in L.A. like it was supposed to and now the island must atone for making things right?
Funny musing: Like any good man, Jack waited until he thought he might actually be dead to propose to Kate. Usually you propose then your life is over? Amirite?
Why did Jin decide to stay behind after previously promising his wife he wouldn't leave her? I can understand if it was a space issue and he couldn't fit on the copter, but to offer to stay behind before you look at the logistics is odd! What's his motive?
Since we haven't found out why Miles wanted the millions for not turning in Ben, I am left to assume it was a throw away that was designed to show that Miles will do anything for money. Who else has money on the island? Hurley. Look for Miles to do something for Hurley(give up his seat on the helicopter?) in exchange for the promise of riches.

I am wondering why Hurly tells Jack, " i thought you wanted nothing to do with Aaron." Jack had issues with aaron at Kate's trial. Jack "rescued" Kate. I think Jack forces the rescue on the Oceanic 6 and some of them were never meant to leave. Also I think that Sayid is in the Coffin. He may be famous for being one of the 6 but really, in the United States (Los Angeles) who would go to the wake of a former Iraqi Republican Guard soldier who may have tortured American soldiers in the first gulf war. it makes sense that only Jack goes the wake of Sayid.

I didn't assume he was planning specifically on NOT leaving the island...just that he really wanted to ensure that his wife (and their unborn child) get off the island. This totally makes sense to me. I thought if there was some big rescue and plenty of space and all of that, Jin would want to go too, but Daniel already said they had no intention of rescuing anyone, so I thought Jin figured eventually the Freighters would be returning to the world, so he was just ensuring that at that time, they'd for sure squeeze Sun on to the flight.
Of course, I could be totally wrong and maybe he has some reason to stay on the island. I just don't think he'd willingly leave her, or *want* him to go without her unless it was a choice between Sun going by herself or neither of them going.

the island is trying to keep Jack... if it was the opposite, then why would his father go after him again? or maybe it is punishing him for some mistake... i guess his mistake was making contact with the boaties.
it was his appedix indeed... or else, why he, being a doctor, would let Juliet cut him up in a useless surgery?
i agree... Erica is probally keeping track of Jack for Widmore. Widmore is probally keeping track of all the oceanic 6. that would explain Bakir not being the killer of Nadia, but only being after Sayid (and Ben twisted that to con Sayid to his side).
i also agree that the dead people (like Cristian) are not Cerberus... and dunno why so many people made this link. For me Cerberus a.k.a Smokey is only some 'defense stuff' (that Ben can summon but can´t control)... and the dead people are dead people... the producers already talked that the losties aren´t dead in they are not in a limbo; i guess once you are/were in the island you can talk to dead people.
the oceanic 6 has to be alive, otherwise Michael would also be dead... and Ben would never leave the island himself... they being dead doesn´t make any sense.
still dunno why he is not supposed to raise Aaron, but it is connected to that fake medium telling to Claire that she is the only one who could raise him... probally Aaron has some big secret mystery... and i bet Walt has too.
wrong... anyone would marry Kate right away... Jack is just being Jack, with his relationship problems.
Jin probally has a motive, and i think his alive and working for Ben like Sayid... just a crazy guess although
Miles still a mystery for me.. why excatly 3.2 million? Thinking about his flashback, where he takes the money from the dead dealer... maybe someone dead told him about Ben having his (dead person´s) money... too crazy?

another thing about Jin leaving Sun... when he threats Charlotte i got the impression that he knows he is going to stay back... that´s why he need a garantee that someone is going to take her off island

Many years ago when I was in college, the pain from my own then inflamed appendix caused me to pass out. I think everyone's experience is different. The emergency room doctor missed it but my family doctor noticed it and probably saved me from a great deal more suffering or worse.

I think Jacks removed appendix is going become a very important issue in the future. I expect in a future flash forward, he will come to realize that his appendix is still in his body and only then will learn about the time travel thing.

In response to the dead people versus smokey (I refuse to call him Cerberus) issue, you should look to the Lost Producers Podcasts between 4.08 and 4.09. In that, they reveal that there are various kinds of apparitions, that smokey is responsible for at least some appearances of dead people. Eko's brother appearing to him just before he was killed was definitely smokey, not his actual brother. Christian appearing in Jacob's cabin was a ghost. You're just going to have to wait for a better explanation, but don't dismiss anything until you know.
On an Easter Egg side of things, I have heard a theory (that I don't personally believe) that the smoke detector going off was an indication that Christian's appearance to Jack was indeed the smoke monster... eh, it's worth pondering.

i keep hearing that ''THE FROZEN DONKEY WHEEL'' that the producers have said is something to do with the finale is
something to do with time and that we may see saywer in the future (OFF ISLAND) due to (SNBH)
IF THIS IS THE CASE I DONT THINK THAT ITS THAT BIG OF A DEAL OR WILL BE A BIG DEAL beacuse
WE AV SEEN THAT DOC RAY IS ON ISLAND BUT (DEAD) AND IN THE SNEAK PEAK WE CLEARLY SEE HIM IN THE BACK GROUND ON THE FREIGHTER(ALIVE)
...

i thought it was interesting when jack said to kate "your not even related to him (errin)" as if to suggest that he actually is. this makes me think that he knows he is related to claire and is indeed related to errin/aarron whatever it is lol...?!
Also its wierd that Hurley was saying they are dead, we as the audience all know that he isnt really crazy, it makes me think that perhaps they are in a parrallel time to the island. By that i mean, they did actually die but somehow them crashing on the island made them alive in one dimension and dead in another, and hurley knows that... ?

Why do you refuse to call the Smoke Monster Cerberus? That's its name--it's established on the show.
Posted By Cerberus | May 5, 2008 4:19 AM
Cerberus? I can't remember that being established on the show. Refresh my memory please. Has anyone on the show actually spoken the name Cerberus? Which episode/who said it?
Posted By heyyio | May 5, 2008 9:16 AM
The name Cerberus appears in the map that Locke saw in the ceiling of the Hatch
Posted By gabriel | May 5, 2008 11:21 AM
Cerberus appears on the door hatch along with a lot of other random names, acronyms and letters. Nowhere on the hatch does it say Cerberus is smokey or even allude to it. If all you have is the door hatch scrawlings then Cerberus could just as easily be the name for Jacob, the sonic fence or the magnet that Desmond sets off. Weren't the scrawlings applied by one of the nut cases in the hatch? They didn't seem to know why they were there so how would they know the name for the defense system?
So what people are asking is, where was it said in the context of an episode of Lost that the name of the smoke monster is Cerberus? So far no one has provided proof of this.
Posted By notquite | May 5, 2008 1:00 PM
LOL... okie dokie then
Just it seens more suitable than any other alternative, cos Cerberus is the name of the three headed dog that guards one of the gates of hell.
"They didn't seem to know why they were there so how would they know the name for the defense system?"
For me that map has quite a few details that, at least, shows they were all around the island, like locations of other hatches and the burial place of Magnus Hanso. If you rather call it smokey, be my guest, but i am 90% sure that Cerberus is in fact his real name
Posted By gabriel | May 5, 2008 4:42 PM
It seems more suitable than the alternative? That my friend is called theory and Lost fans don't usually take theory as fact. That is why Jason in his post "refuses to call the smoke monster Cerberus." It has not been established that the monsters name is Cerberus. No one has yet been able to provide proof otherwise.
Posted By notquite | May 6, 2008 8:36 AM
