God, The Devil and ‘Lost’

Lost Theories — May 14, 2009 at 10:21 am by John

One of the big outstanding questions from the finale is: Who was that guy with Jacob?  The mystery Man #2 is certainly a major player, having a longstanding relationship with Jacob and eventually killing Jacob by taking over Locke’s body.

One popular theory, and one that I’m inclined to believe, is that this man is none other than the Devil, and that Jacob is God.

John K.’s Theory: Faraday and Penny are Twins

Lost Theories — April 3, 2009 at 11:08 am by John

If this theory sounds a little crazy at first, allow me to provide evidence.  These are the facts:

-Based on Erik the Hostile’s warning to Alpert this week, Ellie and Charles Widmore are still on the Island in 1977

-In 1954, Faraday thought he recognized Ellie, which is a name that could be short for Eloise, his mother

-Daniel was a professor in 1996, meaning he was most likely born before 1977

-Penny first started dating Desmond in 1994, which means she was most likely born before 1977

-There has never been any mention of Faraday’s dad or Penny’s mom

-Charles had Eloise Hawking’s address nearby when Desmond asked for it

-Penny is Desmond’s Constant and Desmond is Faraday’s Constant, so both Faraday and Penny are connected to Desmond

Fan Theory: Pull Lever in Case of Paradox

Lost Theories — March 5, 2009 at 3:44 pm by John

It’s probably not the first time that good ole frozen donkey wheel
skipped its axis, and since we are all still here I imagine the
ancients that built it probably had a protocol of sorts to realign it
should it happen. What DHARMA didn’t realize when they tapped into the
“near limitless” energy supply is that they would be subject to the
same problems as the wheel, namely paradox.

Fan Theory: My Father Knew Your Father

Lost Theories, Uncategorized — March 4, 2009 at 11:41 am by John

I have thought from the beginning that everyone who has ever been on
the island is connected. Most of the 815ers have problems with their
parents. What if their parents or they themselves have all been on the
island before, some have  mentioned Christian may have possibly been
there before. Maybe no one is supposed to leave the island and they
either want to get back (Widmore) or simply the island wants them
back.

Is Lost an Homage to Get Smart? The LA Times Thinks So.

Lost Characters, Lost Theories — March 3, 2009 at 4:27 pm by John

The LA Times has a fun story today, pointing out that in one episode of the 1960s camp spy show Get Smart, Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 get stranded on a desert island. Curiously enough, the island moves and at the center of it is a giant electromagnet.

Cuse confirmed that “Yes, that is in the category of complete coincidence.” Obviously it is in the category of complete coincidence but it still makes me curious to see the original episode.

David Malcolm Kelly has a theory too. He told E! Online, “I am really convinced he has those magic powers. I think he can make anything happen that he wants to. Remember with the polar bear? He brought the polar bear out of the book. I think [his abilities] are totally independent of the Island, but I think it is a place where he can really use his powers. At home he can’t really do anything with his powers, ’cause he’d be just kind of a weird kid—on the Island is where he can be free.”

John K.’s Theory: What Happened to Kate?

Lost Theories — February 23, 2009 at 9:42 am by John

Kate made Jack promise never to ask her about what she did with Aaron, and while he agreed, fans certainly didn’t.  Aaron’s fate was one of the biggest questions left in “316,”

On the pier, Kate went off with Aaron, and nearly 24 hours later, he was gone and Kate was in Jack’s place.  What happened to Claire’s “bay-bay” is a total mystery.

John K.’s Theory: What Happened to Sayid?

Lost Theories — February 22, 2009 at 4:51 pm by John

Sayid left the pier, wanting no part in Ben and Jack’s plan to go back to the Island.  Then 36 hours later, he was being escorted onto Ajira Airways flight 316 by a U.S. federal marshal.  What happened in that time is quite a mystery.

The biggest question is whether Ilana is actually a marshal.  Given everything we’ve seen, I would tend to believe that she’s not.  Ben has proven himself quite resourceful with plenty of friends wherever he goes.  There was even a reference to Gabriel and Jeffrey, making at least two unseen and unknown co-conspirators.

Where Are Rose and Bernard?

Lost Theories — February 17, 2009 at 10:25 am by John

I have a confession: I watch a lot of bad TV.  But it was thanks to this that I came up with an honest Lost question: where are Rose and Bernard?

Sam Anderson has been guest starring on the huge Grey’s Anatomy/Private Practice crossover event, and while she hasn’t shown up again, there’s been a lot of talk about Ricky’s foster mom on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, a role played by L. Scott Caldwell.  See, I told you I watch bad TV.

Why Do They Need to Go Back?

Lost Theories — February 13, 2009 at 10:47 am by John

The entire premise of this season has been that the Oceanic 6 need to go back in order to save the people left behind in the Island.  In the latest episode, John Locke succeeded in realigning the frozen donkey wheel, sending him off the Island.  But what next?

In theory, it seemed as though the wheel being off its axis, spurting gold dust into the air, was the cause of the time jumps, and by pushing it back into place, Locke possibly solved the time jump problem.  But if that’s the case, why do the Oceanic 6 need to go back?
