Discussion for Episode 5.6 “316″
John Locke is off the Island and Ms. Hawking is starting to reveal her plot about getting back. This season has been spectacular, with a ton of huge twists in every episode, so what will “316″ bring?
As a reminder, here’s what ABC has to say about the episode: “The way back to the island is revealed to members of the Oceanic 6, but there’s trouble ahead when not all of them wish to return.”
Also, for your edification, here is what the Bible has to say about John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

for some reason, I think this episode will be filler, compared to last weeks and next weeks (which will be one of the best ever). The story of the Oceanic 6 is getting old already. “There’s trouble ahead when not all of them wish to return”? Eh. We already knew that, and they are focusing an entire episode around it. yippy

Nah, drew. I think there’s some good stuff coming tonight, because when Damon and Carlton could have just focused on 5.07, Jeremy Bentham, they didn’t. They felt it necessary to handle this one as well, even though they’re back to back.
I think both of these two episodes will be important.

So is Penny dead? Ben killed her and Dez is going to chase him to the island?

Wow. Best episode of the season, and possibly one of the best ever. Drew, you could not have been more wrong about this being filler. It’s the exact opposite of filler. It was a game-changing, revelatory episode that pushed the whole series forward about a million lightyears.

This is just a thought, but when I saw Ben all bloody on the docks, for some reason it made me think that he was the person who got beat up by Widmore’s guys in the video that he showed Locke last season. Either that or he tried to convince Des to come back to the island and then got his ass kicked.

So, are they now back living in the Dharma Initiative times? No more flashes? lol I remember seeing photos of Juliet in a blue Dharma jumper. And the Losties having the good ole “Namaste” welcoming.

Uh-oh. I think we need to sit down and think long and hard about the implications of Hawking’s revelation that ‘the Island is always moving’. I’m going to go out on a limb and presume that she means through space _and_ time (and there seems to be sufficient supporting evidence for both). It’s already been established that ‘Island time’ and ‘world time’ is disconnected via Faraday’s payload experiment, but the extent to which the two are ‘off’ seems to be (or at least have the potential to be, pending clarification) way more bonkers than anticipated. For example, time on the Island could be traveling (right word? flowing?) ahead, behind, at a faster rate, slower rate, or even variable rate?? (Comprehensive solution: time is all relative anyway?!?)
This opens the door suddenly make a very exciting, but quickly nightmarish, mess of things. Basically, (if I’m on the right track here) every Island/off-Island interaction needs to be revisited with this information in mind, and thought the hell through. Right now, however, I have work in the morning, let me know what you guys think of what I’ve got so far.

I don’t think there is any reason to speculate about this show anymore since they give you the answers to questions in the very next show now.

Well just goes to show Ben only cares about himself. I think Sayed is the one who beat up Ben, Hurley got on the flight to protect people and knew about it because a ghost told him to, Sayed was arrested and extridited for something that Ben framed him for.
Oh and more proof Ben lies alot and the Others know it

that one guy who gave his condolences was kinda creepy to me. I think they gave him a little too much screen time to just another extra. I think abbadon got him to go on the flight because he figured out the “energy pocket” thing and hoped it crashed.

It won’t be sayid who beat up ben.
Ben called from beside a marina. Penny and Desmond are living on a boat, and Penny said she’d go to los angeles with him.
Although I don’t know why they would have sailed there and not just flown.
