Easter Eggs for “Because You Left” and “The Lie”
A new season of Lost means brand new Easter Eggs!
Now in easy-to-view slideshows, we offer updates on tiny details and smaller facts about last night’s episode you may not have picked up on first glance.
For the first episode, there are the Numbers, details on the Arrow Station, and my new favorite game, “When Are They?” This is the latest Lost craze I’m trying to invent where fans use context clues about the established timeline on the Island to pinpoint when in time the castaways are. You may be surprised to learn how precisely we can pinpoint when they jumped to.

The second episode didn’t have as many Eggs, but there were more Numbers, numerous callbacks to past episodes.

I have a theory. I wonder if the “Expose’” easter egg could actually be a clue that Locke’s not really dead. First of all, Ben didn’t confirm to Jack that Locke is actually dead, he ignored the question. And, remember the Nikki/Paulo episode where they get bit by the spiders and are mistaken for dead? Maybe Locke allowed himself to be bitten by a spider. The Expose’ bit (Nikki was on that show) could’ve been a clue like the “Hoffs/Drawlar” funeral home clue. You never know! They’ve killed off so many great characters that it would be nice if someone got to come back. I’ve still got my fingers crossed that Jin somehow survived the freighter explosion.

On a second watching… I think I might have figured out some things.
1. The ‘animal’ Miles found could have been the boar from Season 1 which Sawyer killed and as far as I know the losties never ate. Of no particular relevance of course, but think it makes sense.
2. I agree with the ghost thing. Now let’s imagine when Ethan saw Locke, how must he have felt when Locke suddenly disappeared? Exactly. He must have felt exactly like everyone else did with every Dr. Sheperd’s, Ana Lucia, Charlie, etc, appearances. I don’t buy that they are only ghosts, could they be they’re skipping in time somehow? The show never really aludes to ghosts, and I think, somehow, Sheperd, Anna Lucia, Charlie, etc are just part of the whole time-skipping thing. Remember Charlie says to Hurley that yes, he is dead, but probably he was only dead in his time, and somehow, in his time-skipping problem, he got trapped and although dead, still could appear… just like Locke did to Ethan. I don’t know if I’m close at all, but I believe it’s a possibility.
3. Now to the most daring theory. I still believe that the Finale to Season 6 will go back to the pilot with the time-skipping. Writers have claimed time and time again that the key is held in the first episode. I watched again the pilot, and noticed 3 things.
(a) First of all, it is Ben’s black club, which everyone knows about, how could it end up there, could have it been something tied. I remember Ben implying that the club holds bigger ‘powers’ than it looks like, and it can hold a key to the final loop (maybe it helps you in someway time-skipping is not now).
(b) Moreover, look at Jack’s expression, he’s not merely curious, surprised or anything you would be if you found yourself crashed on an island. To me he looks more frightened, or I don’t know why maybe I want it to look like that, but to me, it looks like someone who has resigned himself and knows he’s going to face something big, like someone who has already been there… dunno, but to me Jack looks ‘prepared’.
(c) Moreover, and this is the biggest thing, to me. JACK’S PUPILS SHOULD BE DILATED (or whatever the word). That is, it’s normal that when we’re subject to strong light, our pupils get small and when we’re dark, our pupils get bigger… now Jack should have been with his eye closed, so his pupils should have been big, but no, they were very very small, indicating he was subject to big light before the start of the pilot… got it? Time-skipping light at work here? Remember, they focused on his eyes for some reason, Lost does nothing for nothing… maybe is that the big clue we’ve been missing all along?

Anyone noticed Doctor Marvin Candle was called Doctor Chen?
Comment by Mª João — January 23, 2009 @ 2:27 am
Also, I’m betting Marvin Candle’s baby is Miles!
That’s why he has all those powers - because he was born on the island!
What do you guys think?
Comment by Mª João — January 23, 2009 @ 2:48 am
Mª Joã: Actually, they called him “Dr. Chang,” because his name is Pierre Chang. “Candle,” “Halliwax” and “Wickmund” are just aliases he assumes when filming the orientation videos. (And yep, fans have been saying for about a year now that Miles is probably Chang’s son.)

Carlos:
I agree that the pilot probably has more clues than we have noticed.
I believe that the final episode will be like the pilot but viewed with different eyes so to speak. the very first scene with Jack waking up will come back in the very last episode and then the circle will be complete, the timeline will have been restored. That’s what I think. I’m really looking forward to watching the show progress.

what is ben’s black club you refer to in the first episode im not familiar with what this is. you say “Which everyone knows about”

rick:
Some people have a theory about the telescopic baton that Ben uses in some episodes to kick ass, is the same artefact that is located by Jacks head in the very first image we see of Jack in the first episode when he wakes up in the jungle. look closely and you’ll see a black baton of some sort laying next to Jack. I’m not sure if it is the same object as Bens baton, it seems to differ in size.

First, I do think that the pilot holds a lot of answers… I have always believed that Jack may be waking up, knowing that he has “work to do”… now whether this is future jack or not… i don’t know. also, i think that the answer to it all is charlie dying earlier thus making contact to the outside world impossible. or more impossible than it was.
Second, this is just a thought. But Miles implied Charlotte had been on the island before. What if Charlotte is on the island as a child at the same time they are now with Charlotte getting headaches and nosebleeds (that she hasn’t gotten since she was a “little girl”…). We haven’t seen what can happen when someone is with their own past or future self, which is probably important with the whole bunnies Dharma video. I’m also wondering if Charlotte’s parents are on the island now. and what happens if charlotte hasn’t been born yet and they kill one of her parents… hmm.
okay that’s it for now.

Lost is so complex that every theory makes sense and every theory does not… about your last part, hurleybird, writers have said that they do not intend to go into the time paradox of one meeting himself, etc… so that might not be it. Don’t we all love Lost?

I am curious about Miles. Maybe he is Dr. Candle’s son or maybe he’s not. But I am sure that he has more to offer to the show’s main plot. Not only hanging around with the losties all around the island.
did you notice that he seems not to be really impressed with the time-jumps? He is not afraid, desperate or worried at all just as Sawyer, Juliette, Charlotte and even Faraday.
I am pretty sure he is hiding something good for us and hopefully it is going to be uncovered soon this season!

What if desmonds visions of charlie dying were “new memories” much like the one Faraday gives him about going to find his mom.
