Final Hints for the Season 5 Premiere
We’re one day away from the premiere of season 5. Can you feel the excitement? It’s so big that the presidential inauguration, which is usually held on January 21, was pushed up a day simply because Sasha and Malia are huge Lost fans (they especially love Hurley).
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been offering hints about what you can expect to see, and there’s so much I didn’t have a chance to hint at.
-Jill the Butcher
-The skipping record
-The church and the woman inside
-An airborne Hot Pocket
-The plane crash
-The Arrow(s)
And such brilliant dialogue as:
-“How stupid does that guy think we are?”
-“It looks like you heart them.”
-“Her name is…”
-“Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?”
You will see and hear all of those things, plus much, much more. Just one more day, and everything will make sense. Then we can really start analyzing what the heck is going on.

thats a joke right? about the inauguration.

Yes, it’s a joke. Inauguration has always been held on January 20th.

Is it a joke that he spelled Hurt “heart”?
Comment by tivnuts — January 20, 2009 @ 1:22 pm
Yes, that was an inaugural joke, though to provide a history lesson, the inauguration used to be on March 4.
However, I meant what I wrote about “heart.”

My guesses for who says these things.
And such brilliant dialogue as:
-“How stupid does that guy think we are?” Sawyer?
-“It looks like you heart them.” Juliet
-“Her name is…” Ben
-“Why is there a dead Pakistani on my couch?” Hurley

Awww. Am i the only one that’s gathered that Sayied dies in this episode? I think i saw him lying dead on a couch. Hurley was there, looking out the window. My guess is that a fellow psycho comes into the room, says “…Why is there a dead pakistani on my couch?!” *Maybe Dave?* just before Hurley knocks him out. It’s just the LOST way.

if sayid dies in the first 2 episodes i will be very suprised as it has been stated that all the oceanic 6 must go back, having said that, they are taking lockes dead body back but i think 2 dead bodies would b too much baggage! PLus sayid is an Iraqi not Pakistani. We gotta wait till sunday for it to come on in the UK so enjoy tonight guys!

Stu, ABC.com should have the new episode up tomorrow or on Friday. I’d highly suggest watching it as early as possible before some one whispers something that gives away something else important. Excuse the vagaries of my someone and somethings, but hey, this is Lost, we don’t know details.

Stu,
I’m sure if Sayid does die, although I highly doubt it, the comment made by the mysterious person about there being a “dead Pakistani” on his/her couch is probably just a generalisation, if it is in fact Sayid they’re referring to. Similar to those made by Sawyer when he would refer to Sun and Jin as Chinese when we all know them to be Korean. It’s like, I’m Australian, yet everytime I meet an American or a Canadian they instantly assume I’m British. Makes sense though, I guess, since I live in the UK. This country sux for being a LOST fan. Sky1 is a subscription only channel, and yet they all still complain about illegal downloading. Good one, Oliver Twist! See Stu, generalisation.

im guessing hurley brings a knocked out sayid to his house and hurleys mom comes in and says that line, only he isnt dead just knocked out and hes iraqi not pakistani.

Uh, if someone killed Sayid and Ben told me that Widmore was out to kill all the 06ers, I’d try to get my ass back to the protection of the island.
I just can’t imagine them killing of Sayid at the beginning of the episode (Unless it is a flash forward to after they get off the island a second time and resolve the show). We still need confirmation about who lived and who died in the season finale, to pile up more bodies at this point is senseless. It would have more dramatic impact to kill off Sayid later in the season when thing slow down.
Considering Sayid has shot an arab or 2 since leaving the island, why don’t we think this is just another guy he assassinated who happens to be a paki?

For BlutoSchmooto: All four of your guesses as to who says what line are incorrect.
In fact, none of those characters say any of those lines.
In fact, only ONE of those lines is even said by a series regular.
I’ll also say that the first and third quotes involve the same character, as do the second and fourth quotes.

Will ABC be posting the Season 5 episodes to the web site so they can be viewed there (after they have aired on TV), or do we have to wait until the end of Season 5 to see them on the web?
Comment by Steve — January 21, 2009 @ 5:20 pm
Thanks JD. I didn’t think i would have to explain the whole Generalisation thing.[:
I assumed the quote would be used as a joke, of course. Such as Lapidus saying on the freighter, “Don’t go tryin to call baghdad or nothin.”
