‘Lost’ Season 5 Hint #10
We are now one week away from the Lost season 5 premiere. Seven days away from the rest of the world finally getting to see what members of the press have seen for more two weeks now. Half a fortnight away from the glory of new Lost.
Since I enjoy posting relatively big hints at big moments, this seems appropriate. Do you remember the Hatch? That thing that went kablooey at the end of season 2 and has been gone ever since? Well, it returns in a big way.
We really haven’t seen the crater left by the Hatch since Desmond’s naked jaunt through the forest, but the hole where the Hatch once was shall play an integral part to the new season.
What happens at the Hatch? What will the castaways find at the spot where the Hatch once was? The answers will delight you, as will the entire two hour premiere.

The Swan station?

When the island goes back in time to the 1970’s the Hatch/Swan Station is obviously up and running. We know that Desmond hit the failsafe key which permanently sealed the station and blew it up near the present day time. We also know from S4 when Locke had the dream sequence when he met Horrace Goodspeed building the cabin that time can loop on the Island. Therefore, I think the first few episodes at least will have some time issues involving the Swan Station. Perhaps this will relate somewhat to what the Dharma video refers to as “the incident” where the computer was used improperly. We should also see a “lockdown” sequence in the Station that shows who painted the image shown on the blast door in S2.

I agree…..
Although on a seperate note, i saw an interview recently with Matthew Fox, saying that he had a good idea of how the show will end at the end of season 6….which made me wonder….anyone got any thoughts about this and how the show will ultimately end???

I am anxious to find out how time travel works in Lost. If the actual physical island was traveling in time one would think that things would stay the same on it as they are now - the hatch is gone, New Otherton is blown up, etc. It seems that the island is moving physically and the inhabitants are moving through time.
As far as we’ve seen time travel working people don’t actually travel physically through time, its just their consciousness that moves through time to wherever their body was in the past or future. It appears that now we have to have people moving physically through time.
I’m curious to see how they explain this, and I hope it’s not just a monologue by Faraday. I enjoy finding things like this out bit by bit, not all at once.

I agree with Eric; however, we have to remember that this is a TV show. There are bound to be many inconsistencies. I seem to remember watching the Dharma video released for ComicCon where they had two versions of the same rabbit in the video. They will have to come up with a half-way plausible explanation on why physical time travel and mind-only time travel are BOTH possible.
Personally, I would like to see a scene where Ben comes back to the Island from the present with the O6 and then kills his duplicate self that is already on the Island with the Dharma Initiative in the 70’s….effectively erasing his young adult life - this would explain his occasional childish behavior (especially towards Juliet - he thinks he owns her or something?).

The crater left by the hatch is perhaps where the Dharma people come from. Are we certain however that the island move back to the 1970’s? Do people just come from the 1970’s? How do we know the island has not moved into the future? beyond where the Ocenic 6 are. They could be in a time where widmore has found the island? i have no idea tho.
as far as the ending goes, i would like to know which charactors are involved? because thier are so many different endings possible, we need to establish who the main charactors are going to be in the season 6 finale?
ben, locke, jack, kate, widmore, sawyer, hanso, worace, hurley, Walt???
i think Hurley may play a big part? As well as Walt? Locke seems to think Walt is special, and i think that Hurley has the same gift as miles.
personally i wouldnt like the final few episodes to be about everybody trying to get of the island. i can see jack and kate, or sawyer and kate, or even desmond and penny staying (just like adam and eve)to maintain the island. i also still havnt worked out who the ‘bad guys’ are? Ben or Widmore? or both?
i cant see their been a massive war for the island, i think its just going to be twists after twists? any ideas or theorys?

I think at sm pt, probably at the end of season 5 we wud relive the purge….
when season 5 premieres the losties wud b back in the 70’s and meet up first with the inhabitants of the Swan station who wud probably be radzinsky mentioned by Kelvin Inman in Season 2. Thats what I gather from the preview that has been showing on ABC, cause he comes out of the hatch in the same suit that Kelvin Inman wore with a rifle. Then at sm point, (from the spoiler I read) pple wud b attacking the Losties, and I figure this wud b the Dharma pple. So in the end, (probably Season 5 end), the Losties wud help the Hostiles take over the island, as we saw in Season 3 thus creating the loop. In Season 3, when Ben took over and gased the island, we saw that the hostiles were dressed in dirty clothes, it is possible that these pple who came out in the barracks with guns when all the Dharma pple were dead, are indeed the Losties who helped Richard and his pple overthrow the Dharma Initiative.

thats a good theory frances and probaly right.
can you expand on this loop theory? i know what you mean in terms of if the losties help the hostiles take over the island it would repeat itself and therefore relive history. however what does this mean for the island? why does thier need to be a loop? is it possible dharma (under widmore)will take over the island? and we learn that perhaps dharma could be doing good and portrayed to be evil by widmore.
???

What I’m curious about is this: If the Island moved locations as well as time… doesn’t that interrupt future events to happen? For instance, if it’s 1970 and the Island is at location (A) - all events 1970 to the present we’ve been watching on the show happen. Well, if the Island as moved locations (B), doesn’t that mean the Island is in the 1970s at location (b) causing events not to happen like Oceanic crashing?
We’ve seen all sort of shows dealing with time traveling, you change something in the past it could alter the future or destroy time continueum.

Why can’t people use proper English online anymore? Writing “wud b” instead of “would be” just makes a person look ignorant.

Why does everyone think the island is going back to the 70’s? could be 80’s too…..or even 60’s…..or all of the above…..not just the 70s…..ben was born in the 70’s…and didn’t come on the island till the end of the 70’s, so chances are the good stuff happened in the 80’s..

whos idea is this 70s time travel thing anyway - Adam and Eve had been laying in the caves for 50 years - kate is unhappy and says i dont want to be eve - (again possibly)- as far as time travel goes this has to be a clue - although its boring and predictable - I hope they go all the way back to when widmore and the black rock arrives

what’s the point of saying we half to wait “half a fortnight?” can’t you just say “a week”
Comment by Ashley — January 15, 2009 @ 8:12 pm
The reason everyone is saying the island is going back to the 70’s is becuase of the Comic Con video with Dr. Marvin Candle saying that he is 30 years in the ______. (could be future or past but it looks like the past) it also seems that Daniel is the one filming the video so this could make total sense. Yeah too much information to sink into my little brain.
Also off subject…. “You’re not supposed to raise him. Don’t bring him back to the island.” is Reffering to Locke….. not Aaron. Think about it =0)
