‘Lost’ Season 5 Premiere Hint #2
As promised, here’s another piece of the puzzle, a hint about the Lost season 5 premiere on January 21 at 9pm.
Today we have a mother of a hint. So often on this show, it’s the characters’ daddy issues that take center stage, but now it’s time for some moms. In particular, there’s one character’s mother who will be incredibly important to where the show is going. How big of a role? Odds are, she’ll be even more important than Locke and Jack’s fathers, combined.
Have we met this mother before? I think it’s very likely we have, but that’s my pet theory that I will expand after the episodes air. .
Who’s mom do you think it is? If you’ve read spoilers or have seen the episodes, I beg you not to spoil it for the rest of the fans, but if you haven’t, speculate away.
Hmmmm…maybe Hugo’s mom knows more about his “curse” than he could imagine. It would be interesting to find out that she not only believes in the curse, but has information vital to the show. I highly doubt that.
I bet the mother is going to be Claire’s mom. Aaron’s grandmother. That would be amazing. She actually has more to do with the plot line, than we really thought.

Claire sounds like a solid guess. But JohnK said “Have we met this mother before?” and we have met Claire’s mother in a couple of episodes. What about Penelope’s mom? Do we even know anything about her or if she is alive or around? Since Charles Widmore became more important in Season 4 then maybe his wife will become an important character is the struggle to control the island.

Agreed that Claire’s mom is the best guess. She has seen Aaron, and anyone who can count to nine and hire a private investigator could find out that Aaron is not Kate’s son. The sneak peek of Kate being approached by lawyers representing some unknown person are probably working for her.
dave mentions Ben’s mom, Emily. She’s a possibility, too. The actress is almost certainly willing to reprise the role, since she’s Carrie Preston, Michael Emerson’s wife (yes, it is rather funny that Emerson’s wife plays his own character’s mom). I’ve always expected to see her return, as her storyline seems to have been left intentionally open.

I was thinking about Ben’s mom, too. There are theories that Ben’s mom is also Locke’s mom. I know different people played the roles, but it was during different times, so still a possibility. If it somehow comes out that Ben’s mom isn’t dead and that Ben and Locke are half-brothers then that could throw a serious spin on things.
But if Ben is really so ultra connected you think he would know if they were in fact related. Of course if he knows, that could explain some of his strange behavior towards Locke.

From John’s text I would think we at least hear about the mother in the episode, right, or we at least know whose mother it will be?
So, if John, who has seen the episodes, then says he believes we likely have met her, it follows that it can’t be a character that we’ve met as someone’s obvious mother, can it? So it cannot be Claire, or Sun, or Claire’s Mom, or one of the Emilies, or Hurley’s, Jack’s or Kate’s Mom because we have met them all and know of all of them that they are those characters’ mothers.
It’s got to be some character whose mother we haven’t met yet.

Kara, yeah thats what I was saying, it seems like its not someone we have for sure already met. That’s why I was thinking Penny’s mom since I can’t remember anything about her.
ani, I don’t totally buy the idea of them being brothers either, but the theories are there and I think there is still some connection that no one knows about. Theres enough evidence there for me to question it at least.
It could always be Vincent’s mother. That dog is still an unsolved mystery, agree?

theotheraaron: but we have seen both Ben’s Mom and Locke’s Mom, so I don’t think it can be them, unless I’m really misunderstanding John. From what he wrote I simply thought we will get a situation in the first two eps which makes clear that a specific someone’s mother is important, and that we haven’t knowingly met that mother yet. (John does however believe that we may have met her without knowing she is that character’s mother.) If, for instance, we for some reason discover that Daniel’s mother (or Charlotte’s mother, or Desmond’s mother or Sayid’s mother) is important, she would fit John’s riddle. As would Penny’s mother, because I don’t think she was ever even mentioned.
(Vincent’s neither, of course, so who knows? I bet that dog is the key to it all.)

supposing we are all right in thinking that Miles’ dad is Pierre Chang, then could it not be his mother? we havent met her yet, she would (presumably) be part of the Dharma Initiative, thus fitting with the apparent theme of the new season…? would also be an interesting way of explaining the whispers (perhaps) and Miles’ ability to hear the dead, whilst also maybe showing a key player in the purge? who knows…

Yeah, I agree, not Ben or Locke’s mom. But if Philoceanic is right about Miles, that could b a very interesting storyline.
Jeff Jensen says theres lots of Sawyer, Hurley, and Sayid, with Faraday playing an important role. We know Sawyer’s mom is dead, we know Hurley’s mom, but we don’t know Sayid’s or Faraday’s. I see more potential in Daniel than the others mentioned.

How could Kate’s mom get custody of Aaron? Only if Kate went to jail, right? Unless Kate’s mom is somehow blackmailing her just to take her kid away. Maybe she would do this to get back at Kate.

Has anyone noticed that now that there is actual news coming in that no one is bitching about “no new content”? Where are those people now!!! Hiding their heads in the f-ing sand pretending they weren’t such dicks for such a long time I bet.
I’m betting it’s Charlottes mom, if Charlotte was indeed born on the island then we’d have to run into her eventually, right?

Maybe Ms Hawking is Charlotte’s mom. Which would help bridge her connection with Faraday. Just speculating.
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW: Starting Mon 01/05 at 5pm on SciFi - they start with season 3 2-hour finale and then go through the entire 4th season! 4 episodes every Monday! They will usually start at 7pm (as before) but 1st Mon is at 5pm. A GREAT way to pass the time, refresh yourselves, and get ready for season 5!!

I scrolled down the page looking for anyone thinking it was Charlotte’s mom, with her being born on the island and all. Thanks for that post, Jacob. Having Charlotte’s mom as a main character would expand on the plotline of Charlotte “trying to get back here.” Which seems like likely to me.

I think we’ll find that Kate’s mom never wanted to press charges for hubby’s death. Perhaps she was put up to it by the powers that be.

Oh I see, so you think Kate’s mom will press charges then she’ll be the only around to take custody of Aaron. That makes sense, then she is an issue in getting Aaron & Kate back to the island.
It’d be cool if it was Charlotte’s mom because then we’d probably learn more about the history of The Island.

Why would people be complaining now that there is actual news? That makes no sense. Of course they’re no longer complaining–news is getting posted. The site is actually posting content now…sort of…so people have calmed down. What’s your point?

My guess is Ana Lucia’s mom. Michelle Rodrigues is listed as a guest star on one of the first couple episodes. The last time we saw Ana’s mom, she said she was going to meet Ana at the airport. She’s a cop, and she might have something to do with the island.

I think it could be Charlotte’s mom (which I think could be Ben’s young friend, and later, lover), Annie. He may have sent pregnant Annie off the Island, knowing that both mother and baby would die if they stayed on the island. That is also why he was the one so interested in Juliet (the fertility doctor)and what she could do to help pregnant women. That could also be why Ben did not like his “adopted” daughter, Alex being with Carl. He was afraid she would get pregnant too.
Sorry to make that such a long explaination. But Annie is the person who I think they will reintroduce, but this time as Charlotte’s mother.

We all think it may be a great possiblity that it could be Charlotte’s mom because doesn’t she say, “doesn’t it make sence? i’m still looking for where i was born”? and desides to stay there on the beach. She knows too much when we know too little about her and the island and why she was digging in the desert and Dharma artifacts.

i have one comment for everyone who thinks that Annie, Ben’s childhood fren is Charlotte mum…. Ben knew who she was and sadi so in Season 4, then he proceeded to shoot her twice, thinking he wud kill her, so y wud he kill his childhood fren’s baby??

That’s a goood point, Frances. I’ll have to think about that one. Unless, maybe, I got my background story wrong and Ben and Annie had a falling out. Who knows, but hopefully we’ll all find out some good juicy info tomorrow.
