Vote for the Best Lost Episode of Season 4
In anticipation of January 21st, BuddyTV is asking readers to vote on their favorite Lost episodes from each season. This week they are asking what your favorite episode was from the awesomely epic Season 4.
Considering there was so little ‘filler’ last season, this is a tough one, but my vote goes to "The Constant." What about you, what was your favorite episode of last season?
Also, stay tuned for an all-out-battle for Best Lost Episode Ever on BuddyTV in the coming weeks.

My vote is for “The Constant” as well. In fact, its my favorite ep for the whole series. It was so mind-bottling for me.

I think you mean “mind-boggling.” (Unless you’re implying the episode actually placed your brain in a glass or plastic container, of course, in which case I stand corrected.)

Top Five for Season 4:
5. Confirmed Dead
4. The Constant
3. Cabin Fever
2. There’s No Place Like Home (All parts)
1. The Shape of Things to Come
I liked “Confirmed Dead” simply because it introduced us to the new characters, and that’s what made it stand out for me. All the flashbacks for the new guys were mind-blowing. A lot happened on the island too.
“The Constant” was a good episode, however, I can’t be one of those people who claim it was the best episode ever. In fact, the only reason I include it in my top 5 is because of Season 4 being so short. Had there been ten more episodes like in the first three seasons I would probably end up ranking this episode lower. I’m just not a huge Desmond fan, so any episode centric to him is not going to be a massive favourite. Still, I loved the time-travelling aspect (I’m a huge “Back to the Future” fan), and the lead-in to Widmore’s possible connection to island, although not completely revealed until the following episode.
“Cabin Fever” for me, was a necessary evil that worked out quite well. Upon hearing the news that the first ’shortened’ season would now lose three more hours as a result of the writer’s strike, I for one was hoping that the remaining episodes that were going to get made, with the exception of the finale, would focus purely on the new characters ie., Faraday, Miles etc. It’s been said that some of those hours that couldn’t be used in season 4, now moved over for season 5, were originally intended to centre on those new characters, however, having a Locke-centric episode at this point did prove to be beneficial as it atleast gave us more insight into the characters of Richard Alpert, Matthew Abaddon, Horace Goodspeed and to a lesser extent, Ben. It was a really good pre-cursor to what we should see in season 5. Also the actual Cabin scene where Locke meets Christian and discovers Claire is phenomenal.
The finale delivered on all counts. There are many different ways that I personally would have piloted season 4 had I been in charge of the controls. However, even though there some elements to the thread of the story that I believe should have been different, this finale still gave us pretty much all the answers to the questions that were raised during the season. It was action-packed, it had great mystery and a shocking conclusion (although I actually picked it, it was still good nevertheless). It don’t know if this should be counted as having 2 parts or 3. There needs to be more clarification in regards to this. Wikipedia says there’s been 82 episodes thus far, but on the DVDs finales such as “Live Together, Die Alone” and “Through the Looking Glass” get classed as just one episode. Confusing.
I picked “The Shape of Things to Come” as my favourite episode of season 4 simply because it was the most intense, dramatic, and shocking episode of the season. I was literally stunned when Keamy shot Alex to death. I truly, honestly did not expect that to happen. And that’s what you want in a TV show or film, the unexpected. What was up with Ben being off the island and in the middle east in the latter half of 2005? How did he get there? The doctor turning up dead. All brilliant stuff. Easily the best episode of season 4, beats “The Constant” hands down.
