Dharma Special Access
Those of you who were involved in the Dharma Wants You ARG, will already have this information. For everyone else, due to financial constraints, the planned ARG was scrapped. In order to try to appease those of us who were Dharma Recruits, they have decided to send those of us who signed up weekly e-mails leading up to the start of the season. The e-mails are going to contain exclusive content and behind the scenes stuff.
Since only those who signed up for the ARG will get the e-mails, I will post the password for the week on the Tailsection forum: http://forums.buddytv.com/lost-general-discussion/72718-dharma-special-access.html#post1238238
This week has three video spots on it, one is Damon and Carlton explaining the situation, a second is footage from a book signing and the third is a recap. I assume that it will get better as we get closer.
The website is http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/dharmaspecialaccess/index
This week’s password is lafleur

why not just post the password here each week. why do we have to go to bloody buddytv again?
dont you realise how much people hate buddytv here

You know this is actually a Buddy site, don’t you? It is ran by Buddy personnel and the “forum” link on the right takes you to The Tailsection forum, which is hosted by Buddy.
I have been a Moderator at The Tailsection since the beginning, when Doc was running it. After Buddy took it over and Doc left a lot of people complained that The Tailsection was being ignored. Recently I became the Admin of the Tailsection Forum. While technically it is (as is this) a Buddy TV site, I am essentially running it, although I am not a Buddy employee. There are some things that I can’t do on the forums, but on the layout and the day-to-day upkeep, I am the one making decisions. I volunteered for the job because I was really frustrated with how The Tailsection was floundering in the Buddy system. There was nobody that was in charge of the Tailsection–who really knew and cared about The Tailsection–so the questions and concerns of long-time posters went unnoticed. I recently decided to get more involved here simply so their would be a tie-in between the blog and the forum.
The link provided will take you directly to the Tailsection Forum. You won’t have to deal with the Buddy menu at all. In fact it will take you directly to the thread with the password. Posting just a password each week would bump other more extensive stories and articles listed here out of the top 5, so it wouldn’t really be fair.
Give it a shot, try it this way, even poke around the Tailsection Forum. I promise that it will be easy as pie. Plus, you are always welcome to give me any tips on how you think the Tailsection Forum could be better.

I thought this site was going to improve? Nothing’s changed–there’s still no new content, and still no effort is being made to turn this back into an important stop for Lost fans. What happened to all those promises from a month or two ago?

Well it pains me to say it but I’m finally going to take TTS off my bookmarks and RSS Feedreader. The content here is stale and when something is posted it’s either a link to an existing article on BuddyTV or it has already been posted 2-3 days ago on DarkUFO. Hope to see some of you at DarkUFO or other lost sites.
It’s was good at the start TTS but I think it’s time to close the door.

Yeah, I’m bailing, too…and I didn’t want to. I was really holding out, hoping we’d eventually see some content here. But nothing’s changed, so I don’t see the point anymore.

I’m still here for ya Tailsection, always.

HMmmmm, not sure why all the discontent about our TTS LOST “content”? What specifically do you mean by “content”? imho, we LOST fans are given the opportunity here at TTS to add and share whatever content we choose.
Also, why target LOST_Grrl who VOLUNTEERS to admin this site, and frequently begs for our thoughts, questions and comments so she can adjust OUR TTS site to whatever content we choose.
Please openly share what “content” you would like to see here, and no doubt our LOST_Grrl will consider and work hard to deliver whatever makes sense within her time and capabilities constraints.
Personally, I see no reason why we should and much prefer that TTS not simply mimic the good content that most other sites already provide, nor feel that we need to compete with them in terms of timeliness. I see our TTS site as a complement to the many other great sites in our vast LOST Collective Psyche that adds much new thinking and fun to the core info already available to everyone.
We are free to choose who and what we are, as well as deliver whatever we choose to satisfy our LOST passions. Again, simply let LOST_Grrl know your thoughts, and/or perhaps LOST_Grrl may decide to provide a forum for us to share our thoughts on what OUR TTS site regularly delivers versus our many other great LOST sites.

What’s so hard to understand about the term “content?” It means “content”–as in, what this site once had, long ago, but no longer does. Go to Doc Artz’s blog. Go to DarkUFO. Check out what they post on a daily basis. Read the articles. Those are content. This site, on the other hand, hasn’t had a single article in nearly a week, and none of the small sprinkling of articles that have appeared here in the past few months have been anything more than snippets of articles from other sites. TTS has become a link sink, nothing more. And no one is attacking Lost_Girl. It’s not her fault. What everyone is complaining about is that after Don ran this site into the ground, then abandoned it entirely, the new management came in a few months ago, promising things would get better…but the site is in the same condition that it was under Don. Nothing whatsoever has changed. If you were here when Doc was running the site, you’d understand.

Since Content Means Content knows so much about Content, maybe Content Means Content should do something besides complain and create some Content him/herself. People who do nothing but complain about people who do something should give it a rest or do something to improve the situation.

The same five people have been coming on this site and complaining about “no new content” for over a year now. They’re just here to bitch and bring the rest of us down with them.
I stay at this site because it’s much more personal than any of the others BECAUSE it has such a select following. At sites like DarkUfo and Doc Artz so many people visit them and comment that your comments go unnoticed. Here when you comment on something people take notice.
I’m more than certain that “Content Means Content” is probably one of the same guys that comments on every article and how it’s not good enough. Well Mr Content, this site is a hell of a lot better than your site…oh what’s that? you don’t have a site? that’s what I thought. Why don’t you do something about it and submit your own articles or go bitch somewhere else. I think we’re kind of tired of hearing about what you want.
Comment by Jacob — December 1, 2008 @ 12:55 pm
I think it’s ridiculous to attack them. They asked for our ideas and many sites rely on e-mail tips to get their news. Look at Perez Hilton. You think he’d have all that up if he didn’t have people constantly e-mailing him hot tips and pictures? I like this site. It’s the largest database of lost theory I can think of…

Thanks for sticking up for me Rich!!!! I have only recently been able to actually post on this site–my time has been devoted to improving the TTS Forum. I know that the Buddy Admin are striving to have a new post each day here, but it is kinda difficult since Lost is not actually on right now. I visit other Lost sites, particularly Dark’s but really, what are they giving you in terms of “content” that we aren’t? I just had a look at their site and the most recent posts are simply a more drawn out version of the “Dharma Special Access” post that I made–instead of giving you the information to go to the site, they posted the videos from the DSA in a couple of different posts, making it seem like you were getting more bang for your buck, when really all you needed to know was the website and the password. There is also a post about the season 5 poster…not all that special…The only thing that is there that isn’t here is the snippets from the Lost Magazine.
As I said, I visit Dark’s site quite a bit and I know that it is not the admin that are gathering all of that info–a lot of it comes from users of the site contacting admin with a heads up. I would be thrilled if you guys would contact me when there are things going on in the Lost world that I may have missed! You can ALWAYS contact me via the TTS Forum or even e-mail me at lost_grrl@comcast.net with any suggestions for this site or the forum. I volunteered to get involved in admin for the site because there wasn’t anyone taking care of it, and because it had fallen into disrepair. But I can’t do it alone. What made TTS so great way back then was not Doc–although he is great. It was the COMMUNITY. If you want to take back TTS and make it “ours” again, then you can. It isn’t entirely up to the administrators of the site to make a difference.
When I started campaigning Buddy to let me be Admin for the Lost Forum, I did so because so many people were complaining about the structure and non-existent upkeep of the forums. I came up with a structure that I thought might work best and then put it to the members of the forum to say what they thought about it–before I even submitted it to admin. I was not originally even thinking about being admin because at the time there was someone at Buddy who was willing to work with us to make the site better (Buddy Nick), but he left. And then there was nobody, so I hounded the Buddy Admin until they agreed to make me Admin for the Lost forum. I am not getting paid by Buddy (although if they want to pay me they are more than welcome to, lol). I have a job and a family in real life. But I was–and am–really devoted to try and bring back just a little bit of the same spirit of the early TTS days. But I am not an army unto myself and cannot do it alone. Those of you who aren’t happy with the content, speak up with suggestions and idea, not just complaints! And again, you can always PM me on the forum or e-mail me at lost_grrl@comcast.net. I look forward to your input!

“Since Content Means Content knows so much about Content, maybe Content Means Content should do something besides complain and create some Content him/herself.”
That’s a completely bogus response. I am not the webmaster here, nor do I have any control over what gets posted. Those running the site do. It’s up to them to create the content, not me.

You’re not even listening to what everyone around you is saying, are you? If you want something changed then you have to help change it. Lost_grrl just explained that if there’s something you think should be up that isn’t then email her. DarkUFO and other sites don’t provide all that much new content, they make games and polls and other things to distract from the fact that there is no new Lost news. They want you to keep coming back so they start making up things for you to do on the site. This particular site doesn’t do that, it cuts through the bull and gives you Lost news that actually matters. It also gives you an opportunity to make comments that can actually be heard, unlike other larger sites.
I guess I just don’t see the point of complaining about anything here. They give us entertainment for free, why would anyone think that The Tailsection owes US anything?

The very good news is that “ContentMeansContent” seems very intelligent and that everyone agrees, particularly our volunteer Admin LOSTGrrl!
We all want TTS to be our LOST treasure, albeit we have a semantic difference concerning the content of our own personal treasure. Also, seems we are all openly and candidly expressing what defines the content of our own personal LOST treasure. AND most importantly, LOSTGrrl will execute whatever makes the most sense for the benefit of all TTSers and welcomed Lurkers. Please let’s continue our dialog.
Good news for all!

btw, I do strongly disagree that other sites are somehow not delivering welcomed content, and should not in any way be disparaged. Think they are wonderful and help satisfy my LOST passion, albeit complementary to our TTS LOST site!

To everyone leaving the Tailsection for good, that’s great news. Fewer whiners is a good thing. Buh-bye!
