Cuse and Lindelof Sound 0ff at 2008 Screen Writing Expo
This last weekend, Carton Cuse and Damon Lindelof participated in a Q&A at Creative Screenwriting’s 2008 Screenwriting Expo. The folks over at ign.com have an extensive recap of the panel here.
Cuse and Lindelof provide some fascinating insights on their creative process for Lost, as well as some tidbits of what we can expect for seasons 5 and 6. Something we shouldn’t expect? Answers to all of our questions. According to Lindelof: "Sometimes we’re presenting things that are not really questions for us, but they become questions for the audience, and we don’t have an intention of answering them." So fans who fixate on questions that have little to do with the overreaching story might have to live unanswered questions when all is said and done. I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly okay with that.

THere is a better recap here with lots more info.

Yeah, that’s awesome. But there are still over 60 days left until the season 5 premiere. More than that if you live outside the U.S. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Remember the good ‘ol days, when there was new content on this site, and each new posting received dozens and dozens of responses from readers? I miss those days.

however, the panel recap was fun and well-done. im looking forward to this series wrapping up, not just to get my answers, but so i can die happy.

But the series finale is so far away you might be dead BEFORE then. Then again, you could also get married and have three kids before then too. Hell, maybe even a few grandkids.

I got my dossier results back and they labeled me a “brick layer” or something because I used cheats on a couple of the tests (cheap). But hey, maybe I’ll get to lay some bricks for a new station, right? The website is still up, I think the only thing you can do on it right now though is download your results.
But to get on topic, I’m confused as to why so many people are dissapointed with Darlton basically telling us that not everything will get explained. They’ve always compared the story of Lost to real life where not everything gets a definitive answer and some things are best left a mystery. A lot of people seem to think that everyone running into eachother in flashbacks actually meant something but I remember them saying before that they just thought it would be cool if they were connected in the past somehow. I bet they’ll still give us an answer to Smokey, Jacob, The Black Rock and maybe if we’re lucky the four-toed statue. There’s still 32 episodes left so that’s a lot of time to solve a lot of mysteries, and the story has really been accelerating since towards the end of season 3 so I have total faith in the writers.
Just think that in the first 32 episodes of Lost we went from knowing absolutely nothing about what was going on to seeing Smokey, learning that there were other people on the island, finding and entering the Hatch, learing about the DI, finding out there were tail section survivors, seeing several people breath their last breath. And that was all before they started cutting out the filler episodes. I bet three times that is going to rush over us in the next two seasons. A LOT can happen in 32 episodes.
