Want to Help With ‘Lost’ Websites?
We here at The Tail Section are looking to bring Lost fans even more exciting content, and we need your help to do it. We’re currently looking for several co-webmasters who would be willing to write for the site and provide interesting content, theories, or ideas for improvement. Do you have the desire to have your Lost thoughts read by people all across the Internet? If so, we’d love your help.
We’re also looking for someone who might be willing to take on the task of revamping TheLostExperience.com, which has lost its way since ABC’s online game ended. If you have any experience with web design or ideas on how to improve that website, please let us know. If you are a die hard Lost fan with website experience and would like to help out with either site, please e-mail Kim[at]buddytv.com, replacing the [at] with a @.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Excellent–glad to hear it, Kim. This site, unfortunately, was starting to develop cobwebs. I look forward to seeing what develops.

It may be a little too late for it to matter, unfortunately. There are so very few follow-ups to the very few posts that do get added here, which I think may be an indicator that most of the site’s readership have departed due to Don’s inability to keep the site active and interesting. The dozen or so of us who are left may not be enough to make the hit count worth the effort of whoever takes over running the site.

Nah, the thought of working for buddytv who destroyed this once great site is not something I’ll be doing.
How many other great sites have you destroyed in order to get a few more hits to your site?

When this site was bought out by BuddyTV, a lot of people predicted this very thing would happen, given BuddyTV’s track record of running sites into the ground.

I agree that there was a definite decline and major change when Buddy took over. However, WE can change that! I am now the Lost Administrator for the Tailsection Forum and will try to contribute here when I can. I am re-making the forum so that it is organized, easy to use and relevant. The fact that Buddy took over the site doesn’t have to mean the end of The Tailsection. If fact, if anyone has any ideas about the forum, I am more than happy to listen to you. The best part about me being the Lost Admin is that now you will have someone who was a) an original Tailsectioner, b) actually cares about Lost and c) will listen and respond to what you guys say and want.
Please don’t give up on The Tailsection…we can revive it.
If you have any comments or ideas about the forum please let me know at lost_grrl@comcast.net

Welcome, lost_girl! Any idea why Don and BuddyTV suddenly vanished? There was a period where we had regular updates, and Don was a regular part of this forum, until a couple of months ago, when he completely abandoned the site and it all but died.

Buddha:
I really don’t know a lot about what Buddy and Don are doing for this site. Frankly, I didn’t even know that it was still being ran. I have concentrated mostly on the forum and have been asked to become a part of this part of it as well. I find it sad that the Tailsection Community–once one of the top three US sites for Lost–has become a shell of what it was. I know that all sites have shrunk as viewership has settled into the hardcore fans and Lost is not the culture phenom that it once was. But this site should have been able to weather that like a couple of the other sites did. Two things did it in…When Buddy took it over from Doc (I don’t blame Doc for handing it over, I know he had his reasons) the site became part of a larger entity that was not focused all on Lost. We got “lost” in the Buddy TV world. The people who were running it didn’t really care about Lost, even the ones assigned to deal with the Lost aspects were tv fans who watched Lost, not Lost fans (know what I mean). The second was that once Doc started his new site (again, nothing against him he did his best to prevent and stop it) there was a lot of infighting by people who thought they had to take sides or somehow leave this site to show loyalty to Doc. That crap was really stupid and caused quite a lot of division.
I really hope that these last two seasons can be different. Now we know that the person who is running the Tailsection forum is a Lost fan, an original Tailsection mod. I don’t have to track down a Buddy admin to ask for this change or that change (within reason). And I am dedicated to doing the necessary maintenance that went undone for so long. I am open to any ideas and will do my best to make the Tailsection Forum great again. And I hope that I will find the time to contribute here as well.
Sally,
I am also at Dark’s forum, mostly there for the ARG talk. I agree that Dark is a great site.

Hi, Sally. Just curious–what, exactly, will you be doing for the site? What will your role be, and how do you plan to improve things here? I’m curious, because of your comment that you hope to find the time to contribute. The main problem this site has is a lack of posted news and articles. If you’re not sure if you’ll have time to contribute then (and I mean NO disrespect whatsoever), then how will things change from the dead-air status Don and BuddyTV brought to the site? Doc used to post news and stories on a regular basis. When he left, Don tried to do the same but quickly faltered. He then invited people to write “Your Voice”-type articles so he wouldn’t have to write much in the way of new content, but after the first couple (which were quite good), the quality and frequency soon dropped until, ultimately, a few pointless “Your Voices” were offered, and then nothing. Since then, we’ve gotten about a half-dozen two- or three-sentence posts per month, providing nothing but links to articles on other sites, which have garnered very little feedback here because they’re not interesting enough to bother replying to. What will be different with you at the reigns? And when do you anticipate that new content will begin appearing? (And to be clear, I’m absolutely not challenging or doubting you–I’m very happy to hear someone new is taking over the site. I’m just curious what your plans are from a new-content standpoint, which is the site’s biggest downfall in recent months.)

Buddha: I think that your comments were directed at me rather than Sally since her only comment was that I should visit Dark UFO. The confusion may be in the fact that I addressed you and then addressed Sally at the bottom of the same comment post.
When I said that I hope to have time to contribute here, I meant that I hope that I have time to contribute here because I am already in charge, as Lost Administrator, of the Tailsection Forum. I was a Mod on the Tailsection Forum from almost the very beginning–when Doc started it. After Buddy TV took over the forum was neglected, just like this blog site was. It became a place for second-hand news, not the go-to forum that it used to be. It was clogged up with old posts, posts in the wrong section and was very user un-friendly. I have been working on that and will have it completed before the start of the new season, but a good forum does require upkeep to run well, so that is my main priority. I have already “spoken” with Kim at Buddy (who is going to be running this page) about how we can coordinate and work together for the betterment of the Tailsection (both the blog and the forum).
So believe me (and I know that you meant no disrespect), I will be very busy on the Forum side of things and hopefully here too.
And as always, I am looking for ideas to improve the forum itself and am open to any suggestions. Right now it is a bit of a work-in-progress because it does take a while to do all this stuff, but it is very navigable as it is right now. I am hoping that Buddy TV will let me speak with the designer people to somehow spruce up the looks of the site itself, but even if not, the organization and content will be there. Just click on the link in the box on the left side (top) of this page and you can check it out yourself.

So whatever happened to the plan to improve this site? This blog–which is the most prominent feature of the site–is still as barren and non-updated as ever.
