I’d like to use my first post to introduce myself to everybody here at thetailsection.com. My name is Brian Rowe.
I have just been given the opportunity to join the site and keep you guys up to date on Lost news and rumors. I’m basically here to help Don and the rest of the staff make this the go-to Lost site on the net. Look for installment one of my Ten Greatest Lost Episodes countdown starting next week. I’ll be counting down the best/most important episodes thus far and analyzing them in the context of where we are now, on the brink of season five. Should be a wild ride this season, as always. So long for now. - B Rowe
The first promo for Lost’s fifth season has finally hit the web, and it’s just as awesome as you would expect. The 76 second clip spends a lot of time covering the events of season 4, but there are some exciting new scenes shown in the last half. Head over to DocArzt’s to see the promo, then chime in below with your thoughts.
Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello has reported that Dominic Monaghan will be making an appearance on the slightly overrated NBC action-comedy Chuck. Though the actor is set to play a free-spirited British rock star on the show, creator Josh Schwartz swears that the character is far removed from Charlie. "He’s a lunatic in the best sense of the word," Schwartz says. "And there’s no heroin [addiction]." Monaghan will appear in the special 3-D installment of the series airing on February 2.
Monaghan also spoke with Ausiello about his big return to television. You can check out the interview below:

We here at The Tail Section are looking to bring Lost fans even more exciting content, and we need your help to do it. We’re currently looking for several co-webmasters who would be willing to write for the site and provide interesting content, theories, or ideas for improvement. Do you have the desire to have your Lost thoughts read by people all across the Internet? If so, we’d love your help.
We’re also looking for someone who might be willing to take on the task of revamping TheLostExperience.com, which has lost its way since ABC’s online game ended. If you have any experience with web design or ideas on how to improve that website, please let us know. If you are a die hard Lost fan with website experience and would like to help out with either site, please e-mail Kim[at]buddytv.com, replacing the [at] with a @.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Dominic Monaghan had a nice, long run on Lost. His portrayal of Charlie, the heroin-addicted former rock star, was nuanced and integral to the overall Lost mythology, and most fans were very sad to see him go. For an actor, leaving a well-paying consistent job on a popular television show can be difficult, especially for someone like Monaghan, who doesn’t possess movie star looks and who will most likely have to spend his career working smaller roles. Dominic has just been cast in a new science fiction film set in the year 2100 called Fortuna. The film takes place in a bleak and depressing future, where climate change and a struggling economy has created a vast chasm between the wealthy and everyone else.
Fortuna is about a game that the wealthy have concocted to give the impoverished hope in the depressing times they live in. In the game Fortuna, one thousand desperate contestants vie to win a spot amongst the wealthy. However, there is more to the game than the participants would like to believe – none of the contestants are ever seen from again, which puts the elite class’s goal of reducing poverty by 30% over the next 50 years in a much different light. Dominic Monaghan and Freddie Rodriguez (Six Feet Under) play contestants who enter into the game, despite their skepticism. Barthelemy Grossmann, who wrote the script and will direct, also will portray a contestant. Shooting begins November 10 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
E!Online has unearthed a possible spoiler about why the Oceanic Six must reunite to return to the island in Lost’s fifth season. Read on at your own risk.
"What I’m hearing is that the reason Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun and Hurley need to reunite is because the Oceanic Six need to fan out to a group of Dharma stations," E!Online’s Jennifer Godwin writes. "Even more intriguing? According to my source, these stations are not on the Island, but in other locations, and these off-Island stations are believed to be the ticket to getting back to the Island." She goes on to mention that we may have seen one of these locations already, so it’s time to start guessing what they may be.
I guess this sounds plausible enough, but I assume the task must be more difficult than visiting a few different stations and flipping some switches. If the Oceanic Six are only needed to visit Dharma stations, does this mean that Aaron and Walt don’t need to return to the island? This news practically raises more questions than it answers.
UPDATE: Kristin at E!Online has unveiled which of these off-island Dharma stations we’re already familiar with, and once again Australia is the key to the game. As she writes in her latest column, "the station is specifically in or around Ayers Rock/Uluru, the place Rose and Bernard visited on their honeymoon."
The somewhat anticlimactic DharmaWantsYou ARG is almost at an end. You can check out the e-mail announcing the final test below, which claims it plays "an extremely important part in determining your final role within the Dharma Initiative’s upcoming research project." After you take the test, all your results will be collated and collected in a personal Volunteer Assessment Dossier, which will be available for download on the website after December 15.
Head on over to DharmaWantsYou to take the final test. Now that the ARG is coming to an end, do you think it lived up to the hype?

This is a small spoiler, so run away now if you don’t want to know.
According to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello, we won’t learn whether Jin is dead or alive until episode four of Lost’s new season. In his latest spoiler column, he writes, "Sawyer, Juliet, Daniel, Miles, Charlotte, and ***** will learn Jin’s fate at the precise moment we do: in episode 4. In other news, ask yourself this question: Why was Jorge Garcia shooting a scene in jail last week?"
Any guesses on who the character with the five-letter name could be?
There’s no official announcement from ABC about when season 5 of Lost will premiere, but DarkUFO is reporting that the show will return on Wednesday, February 4. This would mark the seven millionth time the series has switched nights, because apparently ABC just can’t make up its mind. Do you care if Lost airs on Wednesdays or Thursdays? Sound off below.
