   I’m with conventional wisdom with the following:

   Caesar= old leader of the others as the name is synonymous with ruler.
   Martha= Pierre Chang’s mistress/Miles mother. Death during childbirth? Yes which would explain why Pierre doesn’t yell “Martha, take him out of here” during the comic-con video.

   Illana has to be a character device for Sayid because he has nothing left since both the women he loved are dead. Perhaps a new love or perhaps a spy whose sister Sayid killed and she now wants revenge? Or maybe Mikhails wife on the island if they go back in time?

   Dan sounds like a real loser. This show has been devoid of lawyers since day one and now they are going to introduce one? Boohoo. If I want lawyers I’ll watch any of the 15 shows on tv that are based around law. No idea why they would bring this guy in, best guess at this point is to confilct with Locke who chooses the knife over the book of laws.    Sorry bluto but your comment about adding a lawyer is just baseless.

   Jack is a doctor, and we could watch any of the 15 shows on tv about doctors but we still watch Lost. The profession is not something you can complain about until you see how it’s use. Lost isn’t turning into a legal drama just because it adds a lawyer. So far we’ve seen:

   Doctor
   Military Officer
   Musician
   Architect
   Business Manager
   Office Worker

   I wouldn’t call any of those extremely unique professions yet we still love the show.

   Personally I think the lawyer is going to be a person like Abbadon, someone pretending to be from Oceanic that becomes a hinderance for the O6 trying to get back to the Island.

   But you can hardly critisize a casting role based on the occupation of the character.
