New Show from ‘Lost’ Scribe Airs Tonight
Javier Grillo-Marxuach is responsible for writing seven episodes of Lost during its first two seasons, including "House of the Rising Sun" and "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues." Since leaving the show he’s done some work on NBC’s Medium, and written an ongoing comic book series called The Middleman, which is about a struggling artist who’s recruited by a secret agency to fight the forces of evil. Tonight at 8pm, ABC Family brings The Middleman to life with a new TV show co-created by Grillo-Marxuach. He also penned the pilot episode.
If you check around the Internet for some reviews of The Middleman, you’ll see that most of them are fairly positive. The show is supposedly entertaining and filled with snappy dialogue, though it does have a layer of cheese that’s to be expected from ABC Family. I’ll be checking the pilot episode out tonight, even though my co-worker watched it and advised me against it.

Don,
Did you get my “Theory” I sent you? Went to the address you sent me the last time you didn’t get it.

Hey Gary,
I did get it. Thanks for sending it in! I have a few “Your Voice” entries that I need to post, so look for yours to appear on the site in the next few days.

Don, I think your coworker is full of crap. The show was entertaining and quite enjoyable. It brought back fond memories of the old Batman series. Plus, the dialog was top-notch… Right on par with the witty banter from the movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Sorry Fish, but I tuned in and thought the pilot was abysmal. It certainly wanted to have that Shane Black/Joss Whedon snap to it, but the actors were so wooden and the execution so horrendous that it all fell flat. Back to the Lost DVDs for me!

I had high hopes when I read this article but the pilot wasn’t that great at all. It was like a dumbed down version of reaper
