Your Voice: I Want a Red Shirt Head Count

I love the action on Lost.  It’s awesome.  But with all off the guns, explosions, smoke monsters, and body-armor-laden-freighter-mercenaries there is bound to be quite a body count.  The deaths on Lost are so plentiful and often surprising that it has become morbidly delightful to anticipate just who may go down next.  We were shocked when Michael killed Ana-Lucia and Libby.  Many wept when Charlie drowned.  And of course the entire planet screamed "Nooo!" when Mr. Eko fell.  But what of the unnamed background folk?  Their deaths have been some of the most gruesome and gleeful of them all.  Leslie Arzt?  Gary Troup?  Those schmucks that followed Locke to the barracks?

Even as a rabid Lost fan, I am confused.  Where do these perpetual backgrounders stand at this moment in time, the end of season four?  Where are the unnamed, unwashed beach bums we all have come to take for granted?  The producers have stated during the Lost podcasts that Steve, of Scott & Steve fame, went with Locke, but was never seen.  There also appeared to be a second unnamed female 815 survivor in Locke’s group as well.  She had red hair.  Neither of these two are seen or mentioned to be killed.  Did Keamy’s men get them too?  Are they lost in the jungle?  Did they realize John Locke is totally tapped and screw back to the beach?  What!?

Just how many Zodiac raft trips did Faraday get in before the freighter blew?  We only saw two but there may have been time for more.  Even if it were just the one delivery to the boat there’s still three more nameless jerks dead in the water with Jin and the remaining freighter crew.  But there could be more we did not see transported.  Craig appeared to be on Faraday’s final ferry ride, but what of the other barely mentioned bozos like Sullivan, Richard, or the Frogurt Guy?  Were these clowns on the boat or the beach?

Maybe I’m over analyzing, but I for one would like to know exactly who Sawyer and Juliet will be leading against the NEW Team Locke (formerly the Others) next season.  All of my stupid questions could be summarized with just a line or two of dialogue.  Then we can get back to solving all those other little mysteries like time-travel, ghost-shacks, experimental science stations, four toed statues, and frozen donkey wheels.
