A Gorgeous DHARMA Recruitment Ad
The folks over at the Giant Ideas Blog managed to get their hands on a very cool DHARMA Initiative print ad. They don’t specify where the ad came from, but I would pay good money to have a poster of it on my wall.
Check out their website for more information. Thanks to Bryan Ward for the submission.

WOW, that is pretty awesome. Especially compared to the low budget style TV ad that ran last night.

Thanks for posting this! There are some Easter Eggs hidden in the image, so look closely.
PS: We’re not sure where it came from either, it seems to have just appeared on our desks.

Is that a polar bear near the trees? I also see the numbers, an airplane, a face in the sky…

Good catch on the Polar Bear! I didn’t want to junk it up with to many hidden things, although I sorta wish I had put a sign on the hut that said New Otherton. Oh well.

They should recruit experts in the field of spell-checking. They misspelled “Initiative” in the 3rd line.

For those that might be looking for a hi-res version of the ad (and I fixed the typo, sorry about that) it is available on FLICKR by following this link:

hm… actually it’s an awful poster. sorry… but i will explain.
did anybody notice this ambiguity in the picture and grafix? it actually looks like a cynical satire of a possible (more realistic) dharma recruitment poster. DNA embedded in a sunny scene in front of a stormy sky with a shadowy airplane and an icebear at the beach. to top it off, add a completely inappropriate and morbid black text field with some spelling errors and there you go. it completely defies the tone of the tv series. thx for the effort tho.

Did anyone else notice Smokey on the left side by the trees or am I just seeing things?
Comment by AJ Keller — May 30, 2008 @ 4:44 pm
Everyone is entitled to their opinions Albert, but your comment sorta invalidates itself. I did however appreciate Jerseypin pointing out the misspelled word (singular) and fixed it on the Flickr version. Anyway, you are free to not like the poster, however it is based on the few examples of Dharma artwork that we’ve seen, most of which is based around white type on a black background. Feel free to look for yourself, just type Dharma into the search on Lostipedia and follow the links.

And congrats to AJ for noticing the “Smokey” reference. Nicely done.
(I’ll admit that it is more an error on my part in Photoshop, but I noticed it and left it that way on purpose.)

Erm… as this would have been produced when Ben was a kid which was what? The early 70’s?… did they have photoshop back then?
Not to mention high resolution photography or a decent representation of DNA? (Not sure on that last one)
Looks nice though.

Pineapples101 - Even though they didn’t have photoshop back then, that didn’t stop the process of combining photo elements through various processes. In fact, Photoshop is simply the digital version of those processes.
And the DNA helix was discovered in 1953.

Ahem…if someone commenting in this thread can “fix” a typo, then it is assuredly a fake advert, a good one but fake nonetheless.
