Forget Jack, Kate, and Locke. Sawyer has been the best character so far this season, and he hasn’t even had his own episode. The changes that have occurred in him since he killed Locke’s father have turned him from vilified con man to fatherly hero.
If tonight’s finale stays true to last week’s first part, then we should be looking at more Oceanic 6 off-island flashforwards. However, I think this would be a perfect opportunity to let Sawyer shine. As a core character his flashbacks have always been hidden in mid-season storylines. But it is easy to see that his character could take center stage in the upcoming finale. It would be great storytelling to show these two sides of Sawyer — con man and hero — tear at each other as he makes decisions regarding Kate (and the promise he asks her to keep), saving Hurley, and his guilt over losing Claire.
To stay or to leave — that is the real conflict inside all of the 815 survivors, and this struggle is no more clear than in the case of Sawyer.

Well, we only know the 06 got rescued and are known about. Doesn’t mean other people didn’t get off the island (ex. Ben). I think we are going to get a surprise of that sort tonight.

Also, we know that Kate continues to contact him, and there is a “kiss” looming tonight that, i bet, involved Kate and Sawyer…

We DON’T know that Kate continues to contact him. We only know that he asked her to do something. I’d wager before they part ways tonight, he will have a request for her. Something he wants her to do back in the real world.

I think Sawyer gets killed off tonight. Yeah, I know, that would suck as he’s a great character but these LOST writers like to spin you around. Sawyer is in the copter when the previews for this epsiode were shown … so were the rest of O6. The only other guy in there was Lapidus (don’t remember seeing Jin). So, what if the 8 that are mentioned at the press conference are the O6 plus Sawyer + Lapidus. Yeah, I know, Lapidus wasn’t on the flight but who cares at this point? They’re lying about everything anyway so why couldn’t they lie about good ole Frank? The only hole in this theory is that Kate does not seem all busted up on the transport plane and I assume she would be if Sawyer was dead.
Anyway, food for thought.

The heroes of Lost are Jack and Locke. I couldn’t care less about Sawyer. He’s typical Hollywood goldenhearted bad boy. Did you expect something else from the character?

The con man side of Sawyer will always ultimately win over his good side.

you guys are forgetting about Lepidus. Without him, they wouldn’t have been able to get off the island.

ahah!
The second I finished watching the sneek peek(one in the chopper and fuel leak) I know he will jump to lighten the chopper so everybody else will get to the boat safely.
He is the truly hero.
Sawyer is no more everyman for himself.

The con man side of sawyer came from desperation, and escalated due to his self loathing. He’s had one hell of a journey of redemption, starting to care about his comrades on the island, and there’s obviously Kate as well. Shame he wont get her in the end (I doubt it), ‘cos he deserves to.
