Michael Emerson Discusses All Things ‘Lost’
The people over at the Fanboy 2.0 blog recently had the opportunity to sit down with Michael Emerson and talk to him about the weird and wonderful world of Lost. He discussed the secret scene at the end of the finale, the possible connection between Ben and Locke, and the awesomeness of Battlestar Galactica and The Wire. Check out some highlights from the conversation below, or click here to read the entire interview.
What lengths do producers go to prevent spoilers on a show like "Lost"?
Sometimes they go to crazy lengths. The script in the finale had blank pages. There was a secret scene. There usually is at the end of the season. But they went a step better this year. When they filmed the secret scene, they filmed three different versions of a moment in it so that even the people that were on the set will not know how the season ends.
I read a rumor that you were actually in the secret scene this season.
I might be.
Do you think we’ll be surprised at how much Locke and Ben have in common?
I think they are more connected in some shocking way than we have any idea of yet. Sometimes the writers have said cryptic things to me. I don’t know if there will ultimately be some kind of blood connection. I don’t think that but it will be something. They are on sort of parallel courses.
Do you think Ben is what the island wanted Locke to be?
Clearly the island selects its own leaders. That’s what all that mysterious flashback of talent hunting was all about. Richard Alpert going to Locke’s house when he was a little boy and they way they got Juliet. There’s something. . .and I don’t know, it’s funny. I still don’t have my finger on who that older, more ancient silent order is that is represented by Richard Alpert. Cause they’re not Others and they’re not Dharma either. I feel like they are something older. And when we figure out whet they’re all about, we’ll have gone a long way to solving the riddles of the island.

First! I hate that, but always wanted to do it. I wonder if he knows more than he lets on? I wish they would give us a clue about any one of the three endings.
