ABC Makes Up for Lost’s Missing Pieces
It’s official: ABC has announced that seasons 5 and 6 of Lost will each consist of 17 episodes, in order to make up for the two missing episodes from this season. The total number of episodes will still be 48. That’s great news, because we certainly can’t afford to miss even two hours of the Lost story.

Wasn’t this announced ages and ages ago?

Nope, just announced today, IGN just put an article up about it earlier today, so it was just confirmed today.

You’re probably thinking of the additional airtime for this season. The two additional hours for S5 and S6 allow us to have 48 episodes after S3 to finish the series, as originally planned. It’s been confusing with the writers’ strike about how many episodes we were gonna get and when. No foul.
