Well, I had hoped that the Lost season finale would experience a huge upswing in the ratings, but unfortunately that was not the case. What else was there to do last night aside from watching one of the best episodes of one of the best shows ever? Who knows. Anyway, the Lost finale averaged 12.2 million viewers over its two hours. That’s up a little bit from part 1, but down compared to the ratings of past finales, which you can see below:

With an amazing two hour episode of Lost to look through, we came up with more fantastic Easter Eggs than usual. Included in this article is information on the real Jeremy Bentham, an amusing 815 reference, the Octagon Global Recruiting ad, and Kate’s phone call. See anything that we missed? Talk about it below.

The folks over at the Giant Ideas Blog managed to get their hands on a very cool DHARMA Initiative print ad. They don’t specify where the ad came from, but I would pay good money to have a poster of it on my wall.
Check out their website for more information. Thanks to Bryan Ward for the submission.

If you’re anything like me, then you probably like to read a thousand different opinions after a fantastic episode of Lost. I find that it really adds to the experience and often opens my eyes to things I hadn’t previously considered. If you check out the links below, you will find reviews of last night’s finale from a variety of different sources. Not all of them are positive, but hey, there’s no accounting for taste.

Though it didn’t necessarily throw off all the spoiler addicts, the producers of Lost decided to film three different endings for the big coffin reveal in last night’s episode. Good Morning America showed all three endings this morning, and it’s pretty interesting to watch if you ignore all the inane chatter.

The fake commercials for the DHARMA Initiative have a certain look to them, don’t they? The instant I saw the commercial for Octagon Global Recruiting play out during the Lost season finale, I knew it was in some way related to the show. If you check out the company’s website, you can see the commercial and sign up for updates by entering your e-mail address. The OGR national recruitment drive just happens to be taking place in San Diego on the same dates as the big San Diego Comic-Con. That’s definitely not a coincidence.

Last night’s epic Lost season finale featured an interesting, totally creepy dream sequence. Not only did Kate dream of Claire telling her not to take Aaron back to the island, but she also received a phone call from someone speaking backwards. It was a total Twin Peaks moment, and now we have the audio from the call played in reverse so it’s intelligible. In case you can’t play the file, it’s a man saying, "The island needs you. You have to go back before it’s too late."
The big question is: Who called Kate?
Thanks to TTS reader Russ Boyd for submitting the audio file.

Aside from the red shirts, there were fewer casualties than I expected on last night’s season finale of Lost. Desmond made it out alive, Jin (probably) made it to safety, Sawyer proved to be a great swimmer, and even Lapidus escaped with only a few scratches. However, there was one especially big casualty: Michael. After completing his mission on the freighter, the island finally released Michael and allowed him to sacrifice himself for the greater good.
Today, TVGuide.com has posted an exclusive interview with Harold Perrineau regarding his exit, which he certainly isn’t very happy about. Check it out below:

Halliwax’s Orchid video is the most important clue to determining where the island is going.
Halliwax mentions that the rabbit will be sent into the future a short time and it will look as if it has disappeared. The Comic-Con Orchid station video where there are two bunnies is a blooper reel, because they shot this orientation vid twice. In the Comic-Con one the rabbit is sent into the past, which is why everyone in the room freaks out. A paradox would occur if they met. Once the island disappears, it’s not that they have physically moved it, the island simply doesn’t exist in that realm.

The night we’ve been both anticipating and dreading is finally here: It’s time for the final Lost episode of 2008. As the credits rolled on the first part of "There’s No Place Like Home," our castaways were split up and spread out all around the island. Locke and Ben were attempting to bust into the Orchid station, while Jack and Sawyer were on their way to rescue Hurley. Kate and Sayid were captured by the Others in the middle of the jungle. Sun, Jin and Aaron were on the freighter, and everyone else was still stuck on the beach. We were left wondering how the Oceanic 6 would possibly come together, and tonight we finally got our answer. We also got an entire cavalcade of other answers, one of which I completely forgot I was waiting for.
