A Spectacular ‘Lost’ Kiss is Coming
There are some pieces of Lost news that are so inconsequential that I can barely muster up the energy to report them, but report them I shall. In what will come as a big surprise to no one, Kristin at E!Online is reporting that there will be a kiss between two characters in the season finale. Thrilling, isn’t it?
According to Damon Lindelof, the kiss will be "spectacular," but it will not happen on the island. My guess is that it’s going to be between Jack and Kate as they finally escape on the helicopter, though it could also happen on the freighter or in a flash forward. What do you think?
Desmond and Penny. Has to be, I’m almost 100% convinced, to the point that I wish I hadn’t read this, because I’m sure enough to almost consider this a big spoiler. We’ve seen Jack and Kate kiss before, plus it’s off-island. And really, what kiss would be more spectacular than Desmond and Penny?

Two options. Kate and Jack in LA, when Jack convinces Kate that “We Have to Go Back!” Or Desmond and Penny, when Penny finds the freighter (then Michael blows it up?).

I think it will be Jack kissing Locke…talk about spectacular!!! It’s about time Locke got his props for being resourceful and savvy about the true nature of people and the island.
It won’t however be a kiss on the lips though. Jack will have to kiss Locke’s behind in a scene with the ultimate “I told you so!!!”

Ben and Locke? C’mon…S4 has been nothing but foreplay for these two. What I’m really hoping is that Kate saves Alex from her current predicament and gets a friendly smooch in return…we can all have a dream right?

I do not want to ruin the finale for anyone but it is so obvious the last kiss would be shared between jack and Sawyer .. Let us cut through all this time travel, flashbacks and flash-forward nonsense. Lost is ultimately a love story between Jack and Sawyer. Come on I cannot be the only one to see the sexual tension between the two. They intentional put Kate in the middle between them to take the edge off there undeniable passion for one and other. Unfortunately, Sawyer will have to stay behind on the island. The last scene as Jack is getting on the helicopter he gives Sawyer one last look. Then he races toward Sawyer and they finally embrace. Last line will be Jack’s. “I’ll come back for you James.”

Well color me less than optimistic, but I really cannot imagine any kiss between any of our cast members as one being spectacular.
Understanding a typical writing technique, a spectacular kiss usually comes after a troubled romantic build up. Build ups such as this normally takes several forms but almost always has one theme; that being that the couple has been restrained from one another for whatever reason. It could be separation by mileage, separation by jealousy/anger/disagreement, separation by being part of another couple at the wrong time, separation by not knowing/understanding the other half’s feelings, and so forth. It’s all a cliche mind you, but that’s how the technique works.
Jack/Kate/Sawyer all fit within those guidelines, but it’s been put on a back burner so to speak. In other words, the romantic buildup has not been very forward this season as there has only been a half mention of it here and there. I’m doubtful it’s a Kate involved kiss.
Juliet/Jack has already been done… after following the above technique, I might add. I wouldn’t call that kiss spectacular, but it was a long time in coming and it was such a relief to have it over and done with.
Ben/Annie is doubtful, but possible. There is a slight build up going on this very minute and I would love to see this as THE kiss, but there would need to be more immediate buildup. Typically there is an intense situation just before the occurence. Wow!!! A totally (somewhat unrelated) thought just struck me. Wouldn’t it be interesting to find out that the whole reason Ben is doing this time thing is to bring Annie back?! Now a kiss after something so explosive as that would definitely be spectacular. However if that theory is right, we likely wouldn’t know that answer until the last season. Shucks.
Jin/Sun is another doubtful one. Their relationship is all emotional and not very physical. I find a hug and kiss for them as a heart warming ‘accomplishment’, but I wouldn’t define that as spectacular. Jin’s final kiss will be sad and hopefully not a spectacular event.
Sayid/? is a thought here if I may. Sayid has serious relationship issues. He tends to select only women who are not going to be around for very long, for whatever reason. He is similar to Jack in that respect. Sayid easily falls in love, also like Jack. Could there be a Sayid/someone brewing? There has been no build up at all for him, but that Charlotte is an interesting candidate. Two of his three women had attitudes very similar to hers too, so that makes her even more of a candidate. Of course… he’d have to get off that boat first.
Desmond/Penny is a very likely choice. That one amazingly romantic episode more than qualifies as a build up for such a kiss. A special reunion between those two would be a nice one. The only problem is that I don’t believe I personally would find it spectacular. A kiss between these two is to be expected, so it’s hardly spectacular.
One that I doubt many are seriously considering that I’d find spectacular is Daniel and ?. No, really. I absolutely adore him and would think his kissing anyone would be a spectacular event.
Okay so if I had to choose one, my money would be on Des/Penny as the couple Cuse is referring to, but I’m crossing my fingers that it is either instead the very unlikely Ben/Annie OR Daniel/?.

Why else would Widmore say, “I see you’ve been getting more sun” to Ben? Ben surely got a lot of sun on the island. Why would he have to be off-island to get more? My guess is that he means Sun with a capital S!
And the actors who play Ben, Sun, and Widmore recently filmed a scene at Heathrow airport in London for the finale.
Why else would the kiss be so spectacular, unless it was between two characters that aren’t already together? Penny and Des would be cute, but hardly spectacular. But Ben and Sun would be a spectacularly amazing “WTF” moment for sure!
(Okay, it’s a stretch, but wouldn’t that be awesome?)
