Forgive me if I possibly repeat some other person who has listed this theory previously, but what if Michael is Ben’s ace in the hole on the freighter? IT’s possible that part of the deal Michael made to get off the island was not only to dupe his friends, but to follow the heading that Ben gave him directly to the freighter. Ben tells Michael to pretend like they were stranded at sea and gather intel when they let him onboard. How far was Michael and Walt’s little boat supposed to get? All the way to the good old US of A?
Comment by Patterson — February 26, 2008 @ 11:08 am
i think ben told michael that he would cross some sort of shipping route and that there he and walt would be picked up by a boat.
so that would strengthen your theory, patterson.
Comment by gb — February 26, 2008 @ 11:24 am
I don’t think that is entirely correct.
Michael did a lot of bad things to get he and his son off the island, namely killing 2 people in cold blood (one a former cop). I don’t think he would have gone to such extremes merely to trade on stranded location for another. No, Ben told Michael that he would let him and his son go…HOME.
Saying that first, however, it’s not beyond the realm of conceivability that Ben double-crossed Michael. Once he got what he wanted he may have directed Michael to the freighter, and told him that if he didn’t do what he wanted he would reveal his misdeeds to the world (that he was a murderer). So that part could be possible and it could indeed be Michael on the freighter. There is only one problem with this: Walt. I find it very hard to believe that Michael has been tooling around the boat, working and also spying, whilst also raising a young child. I mean, really…what has Walt been up to while Michael is playing the Other’s KGB?
But having said that there is another problem: apparently there are photo(s) of Michael on the freighter floating around online. I have only heard of this and haven’t actually seen anything but it seems to be the case. So apparently Michael in on the freighter. But I still stand by my first point that Michael did not go directly to the freighter. And I don’t think that Walt is on the boat, either.
Comment by LostinTranslation — February 26, 2008 @ 11:58 am
sorry, i have to stand correct for that shipping route thing. according to the transcript on lostpedia ben says:
“Good, then you’re going to take this boat and follow a compass bearing of 325, and if you do that exactly, you and your son will find rescue.”
i also think that we will se michael on the boat. but what about walt? i mean, he was on the island, giving instructions to locke…
perhaps the spy is some new character, but that would by far not as susprising as someone the viewers already know…
Comment by gb — February 26, 2008 @ 12:37 pm
What does everyone think of the idea that Walt was the grown up kid who’s house Miles went to when we first meet him. Walt was maybe staying with his Grandma… fell in with a bad crowd and died? Therefore his spirit is back on the island talking with Locke? I wonder what that money is from? Do you think that will come into play, or do you think that whole situation was just to introduce Miles as a sketchy guy
Comment by inlovewithjack — February 26, 2008 @ 1:30 pm
nlovewithjack i agree with that walt wanted go back to the island and then wnet with the rong crowd on druga and that amd then died and micheal feels guilty and gets bk to the island sumhow but i duno how he gets on the frieghter from here ,,, ur thoughts
Comment by JASON — February 26, 2008 @ 6:33 pm
My theory isn’t probably the most sound idea around, but I am the type that likes to sit around and listen to other peoples thoughts, so it was good enough to post, I thought.
THe comments about Walt are perfectly valid, where would the lad be on the boat? Other conversation about him was thought provoking as well, especially the thoughts on Walt being the dead teenager called by the Grandma. Lost shows all things for a reason, but no one showing up for Walt’s funeral but Jack? That’s just crazy talk, someone else would show up. Like…….other people. I don’t know, but someone.
Comment by Patterson — February 26, 2008 @ 11:39 pm
Umm….like the grandma for instance. Also what if ……the frieghter….is a U.F.O. and what if………Ben’s man on the U.F.O is………Elvis Presley.

“Possible Spoilers”……….. I think there should be a thread about the clues from the game “Via Domus” that is current. And yes I know that this game is not “canon” to the show. But that only means that you do not have to play the game to understand the show. It does not mean that events in the game are irrelevant to the show. They would not purposely put anything in the game that contradicted the show, period. These topics for starters. There is alot of info about ESP and the “sixth sense”. There was talk of enhancing the human mind in ways never thought possible. “Prebiotic Chemistry” was on a document and that led me to a web site that spoke of the “Union of God and Science”. There was the “God is Dog” reference. Maybe a reference to Vincent? And lastly, Smokey seemed to affect the compass. It spins like crazy when he was around. Your thoughts?
Comment by jasonator — February 27, 2008 @ 2:23 am
i think it is impossible that walt is the one (who is not there) in the room where miles is hunting ghosts or something. this episode was a flashback episode, so it in my opinion it would make no sense if walt was the one miles was searching for in that room

Can anyone tell me why I’m having trouble watching the abc link for full episodes. Every time I try to load an episode, it gives me an error message that the advertisments aren’t available right now and to pick another episode. It doesn’t matter which one I choose. I’ve tried almost every one.
Comment by Good — February 27, 2008 @ 12:05 pm
I was thinking that if Michael is on the boat, maybe he struck a deal with Ben, that he stays on the boat awhile, and has Walt stay with his mom (the grandma) don’t forget it was also on the phone with her in the airport freaking out asking her to take care of him for a while. What if Walt was staying with grandma, separate from Michael and fell into a bad crowd and died… Hence his spirit goes back and forth from G-ma’s house and the island to help out. (maybe too out there) Seemed his spirit was still in house when Miles was there… But also Locke saw a “taller” version of Walt on the island.. pointing to the fact that he has grown up.
The miles storyline comes in separate but yet still all tied in (how Lost rolls)
As for the person in the coffin.. maybe it’s Juliet? The only person who would care about her would be Jack, certainly not Kate. And she’s not one of the “6″ so still keeps them alive to head back to the Island someday…

To Whom It May Concern,
This may be a bit of a stretch, but as a huge fan of “Lost”, I made a short comedy inspired by the show last year. It’s about a couple who break up while watching the Season 2 box set. It has already won the audience award at a few short comedy festivals but I’d like to get it out to real Lost fans.
You can see it on youtube:

If you like it, I’d love to hear back from you, and I’d really appreciate an honorable mention on your site.

I have a theory on Naomi’s bracelet after watching Ji Yeon. The initials on the bracelet were R.G. and unless i missed it we never hear Regina’s last name. I say this in all seriousness that Naomi and Regina could have been lovers or at least in love. This would make sense of Regina’s behavior. Initially i thought, as I’m sure most did that Regina was just sick, like the rest. However, when Keamy walks out and tells Lapidus don’t be late, i think he was referring to Naomis funeral on the ship. The next morning Regina has the book upside down, clearly exhausted and not thinking clear. She then throws herself off the side of the ship. I believe she was mourning for Naomi although it certainly could’ve been both sadness and sickness.I’m leaning towards sadness. I doubt it highly but you never know, maybe Naomi was her constant.Just throwing that out there. Enjoy

Hey, just watched ‘Ji Yeon’. Am I the only one who thinks Jin’s not dead. I believe he is still on the island, just not one of the oceanic 6. I think that was why his tombstone read 22/9/04, to carry on the illusion that everyone who wasn’t the oceanic 6 died in the crash. I think she goes to the ‘grave’ because it is as close as she can be to him. But we know his body is not in there. There are probably graves for all the passengers after they were ‘found’ in the ocean. If it really was Jin in the grave, it would mean he came back to the world and died there, so it wouldn’t be 22/9/04. When she said ‘I miss you’ it wasn’t cause he was dead, it cause he wasn’t there. So even if he was dead, why go to the grave, we all know he’s not in there. Plus as a further note, I don’t think the lost writers would put a character through that level of redemption just to kill him off. After this episode, when he forgave Sun for her affair, it showed that he is the most loving person on that island. I don’t think the character should be rewarded with a death before his child is even born. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking because I like Jin and I don’t want him killed off.

I am wondering if anyone saw The Langoliers last night on the Sci-Fi channel? I watched and was stunned at the similarities between Lost this Stephen King story! I will admit I’ve never read the novella, so I’m going off the mini-series. However, that is where a lot of the coincidences fell into place for the show.
First, the story is about a plane that leave L.A. for Boston. As they leave they travel across the desert in NV. and travel through a tear in the space-time continuum. Passengers that were awake disappear, those asleep survive.
Then, they arrive at an airport that has no power, food has no flavor, pop and beer have no carbonation. They finally figure out that they’ve traveled into the past. However, there are “monsters,” or Langoliers, that are there that they suspect are there to eat humans. In fact they are there to destroy the past.
Anyway, there is one scene where the Langoliers are approaching the airport and they can’t be seen but make a sound just like Smokey. They also move through the forest just like Smokey, destroying power-lines as they go.
The passengers figure that time, the present, is contained within the plane and if they can fly it back through the rift then they will be all right. So, they escape the Langolier, not without a few casualties. Oh, did I fail to mention the blind girl who can transport herself out of her body to communicate with an injured man to help lure him to his death? She is near death, strapped to a board on the plane, yet uses her mental abilities to send her image to the “villian” Mr. Toomey (no less) to use him as bait for the Langoliers. Reminds me of Walt!
Anyway! The rest of the passengers fly off. They make it back to LA only to find the same thing. No power, no people etc. They figure out that now they’ve flown 15 minutes into the future. So, they stand in the terminal waiting for the future to catch up with them.
The survivors all stand against the wall and watch the future catch up. It comes in a wave of iridescent colors. The sky turns purple…reminded me of the hatch blowing. Then the camera pans to the survivors against the wall. And the killer is, there are 6 of them! Yes, it is the Oceanic 6! AND it’s two women and 4 men! Sound familiar!
Now, someone tell me there are no correlations to The Langoliers with Lost! I checked Lostepedia to which there is little reference to The Langoliers. However, is anyone has watched this show, please tell me if I wasn’t going just a little crazy last night in thinking that it was Lost in a four hour episode?
I do acknowledge that Lost has more to it than the simplicity of this King novel, but it seems to me that there is quite a bit taken from this story line.
What do you think?

i was on another lost website where it said that a source had revealed that later on in series four is a lost flashback to lockes birth, and guess who is there richard that doesnt age,but that isnt what in terested me it said that u get ur first glimpse of lockes mum a miss emily locke, and whos mum was also called emily … ben.and then i started thinking locke is probably a little bit older than ben,so if lockes mum gave birth to him when she was to yung to bring a child up she would have had to put him in fostercare and then a few years later she died giving birth to her second son ben, this would make locke and ben half brothers and give a reason for them being the only to that can see jacob and could possibly explain why women that are pregnant die on the island, because bens mum died after giving birth any comments r welcome.

Dear Lost,
do - ray - me - fa - So - la - te - do
How long the sun hides from the path
What calls for who am I to this
Or what I am to that
Does it linger through the abyss
A chance that follows me from shade
The clouds roll by gliding a blatant sha-do
Across the path across the night
Eyeing the ray of wanting light
How current the wind chases
Taking me past fa library
So if it is it ought to be
And the music continues la faint melody
Coming to terms with so sigh it te-a
Sitting by the win-do
The dreams that fall with the rain
That quenches my heart down to my toe
How comes it offers opportunity
Waiting for such a harmony
For everything to be perfect
O it will be tomorrow

I was sitting here contemplating “Cabin Fever” for the millionth time in my head and I had a revelation. OF COURSE Mr. Abaddon wants John to go on a Walkabout. We should realize by now that some characters, i.e. Ben, Abaddon, Alpert…, have a somewhat omniscient point of view. That is they know future/past events and what this crazy island is all about. If so Abaddon would want Locke to go on a Walkabout and not be allowed to participate so that he would head home early, hop on Oceanic Flight 815 and crash on the island. Why? Because Locke would become distanced from his fellow survivors and lose faith in the island and would stop Ecko and later Desmond from pushing the button. And then the sky would turn purple and send out some sort of anomaly so the outside world would know the island is still there. Granted Charlie still had to “unlock” the island but the hatch explosion was the first step in this direction. And along come the Frieghter people.
Comment by Kendra — May 9, 2008 @ 9:00 pm
There are two separate and parallel timelines going on the freighter(s) during “Cabin Fever”. Everyone needs to watch the episode again. Below are the events on the freighter(s) along with running show times for your convenience.
First Timeline
3:52
Dead of night, pitch black…..keamy and men arrive on the Kahana and remove one man (Mayhew) and a cart him to sick bay with his guts hanging out. Keamy says, within earshot of Sayid,”A black piller of smoke, threw him fifty feet in the air…ripped his guts out.
Second Timeline
18:20
Aboard ship broad daylight outside……Lapides announces that the man is dead (you can see daylight outside of Gaults cabin when he and Keamy enter just after Lapides anouces this).
20:12
On deck in broad daylight….We see the same man taken from the chopper with a blanket covering his body and not his head; he’s not dead yet in this scene. The same set of events slightly altered. And apparently, Sayid and Desmond are talking about having overheard that his injuries resulted from a gunshot, which Desmond believes is no the truth.
Timeline unknown
24:53
Establishing shot of the Kahana, apparently at daybreak or sunset.
Second Timeline
26:14
Kahana broad daylight. Gault tells Sayid what to do to get away in the raft.
First Timeline
31:48
Kahana dead of night. Chopper being loaded for the return trip.
Have a look at this and ask yourself some questions. Did it take almost two full days for Keamy to make a return to the island? He would never have waited that long. Look at his urgency all throughout the episode. Would Desmond and Sayid be on deck for HOURS talking about it not looking like Mayhew was shot with a gun whe Sayid would have overheard Keamy saying it was the black smoke?
People aren’t paying attention. This is exactly what Michael Emerson meant when he said time would be going sideways.
Comment by jbragg — May 12, 2008 @ 7:59 pm
I don’t know if this one has been picked up on yet, or if it will turn out to be true.
We already know that Ben’s mum was called Emily, But in “cabin feaver” we see Lock’s mum… she is also called Emily???? Is this just conincidence???
Or Are Ben Linus and John Lock actualy half brothers. If so it could possibly explain a lot about ther connection to the island.

I think I just found a hidden message in the web related to the return of Jack and the other 4 to the island.
The article is on the New York Times web site and is talking of the crash of Flight MI-185. Oceanic 815, rings a bell? 5 Maerican were on board, rings a bell?
Check this out.

Forget the previous, it seems that it is a real crash. What a coincidence with the numbers. Sorry folks.
Comment by Okane — June 2, 2008 @ 1:39 pm
This is a bit off subject but…
We now know how the Black Rock got into the middle of the island. If the island disappears when it is moved it must reappear (as the rabbit in the chamber would disappear and reappear). Hence the island appeared under the Black Rock while the ship was sailing. This points towards the conclusion that the island was capable of being moved in the time of the Black Rock. As far as I can tell the island can only move forward in time. So before whenever the black rock dated from, there was someone who could move the island forward in time. It stands to reason that there is a person in the current episodes who was around in the days of the Black Rock…otherwise the writers would be missing a trick and the ultimate 200 year flashback in the series 7 finale (hehe). Therefore we are looking for a person who does not age….ahem.
Comment by mantis — June 5, 2008 @ 5:09 am
P.S. What’s the betting that there was a Whitmore on that ship? Perhaps he found the island, laid claim to it, movce it, left and then his descendants have been looking for “their” island ever since. Just a thought….
Wouldn’t this make the island a “kraken”?
Comment by mantis — June 5, 2008 @ 6:17 am
Jacob ben Abraham Kahana, rabbinical author; died in Vilna 1826.
Coincidence? Jacob, Ben and the name of the freighter, Kahana? All in one name…can’t explain the Abraham though.

By the way:
In Hawaiian, “kaha” means “to mark, draw, place, turn or surf,” and “na” means “belonging to.”
Belonging to the place? Or more ironically, belonging to the surf, since the explosion:o)

I was seeing the Pilot episode again, and seeing that writers have held the the pilot was full of clues, I noticed some coincidences which continue to strengthen my theory that Jack was put into the island after the crach, that is by some way of a loop.
1. Look at Jack’s side after 33 seconds, and you’ll see that very same black stick Ben used in the Sahara to beat those guys on the camel, and the one he gave to Locke before going to affront Widmore’s men.
2. Now look at Jack’s face at around 0.46. He doesn’t look like he’s surprised that he lived from the crash, or that he was surprised of where he was. To me, his look is almost like saying “Damn, I’m back here.”
3. Why is Jack so far away from the plane He walks for around 200-250 metres before going near the other survivors.
4. Anyone noticed that white slipper? Who’s that? Is it relevant? I remember only one guy wearing white slippers, and that’s Walt. Anyone remember the writers saying Walt will be very important to the plot?
5. Why Jack knows almost everything what to do, who to save, and how, etc? He’s been there before of course.
I think that Jack returned on the Island by either moving through time, or space. For example, he wasn’t on the Oceanic 815, but traveling through time he took the plane to crash and go back, failing miserably of course because he was gonna go through whole neverending loops. Whatever the answer is, it’s clear that the Pilot shows these 5 clues (for me). What do u think?
Comment by Carlos — June 23, 2008 @ 2:54 pm
Mantis, the white sneaker belongs to Christian - or at least, Christian is seen walking around the island early in S1 wearing 1 white sneaker. He must have found it, cos later he is wearing the whole pair.
I think you have a lot of company in believing that the pilot may not have been wear the story began. It is only one of many iterations (I wonder if there has been a recurring drama on the island that matches Danielle’s reiteration number. Probably not, but who knows?)
We know by Desmond’s memories (which Claire accepted so easily - very consistent with her S1 character) involve past cycles on the Island with Charlie dying at different points in the story. He is not the only one who must have died. Perhaps we will witness Locke dying to start the cycle over again. Each time they try to get it right. Like the gunslinger, the odds are stacked against them.
I think that at the beginning of a new island cycle or even after a cycle changes within itself, memories of former cycles are remembered at the very beginning but quickly forgotten. Just as in life… if we plan our lives before we are born, we are born remembering the world we came from, but by the time we can talk, almost all of us have forgotten our real nature and purpose.
Mantis, ben means son in Hebrew and yiddish (and aramaic? not sure about that one, but I think so). Abraham is considered the father of the Jewish people, and as the family tree developed, the father of Islam and Christianity. Abraham’s son was Issac. Jacob was the son of Issac. Benjamin was one of the sons of Jacob.
So, here we have Ben, both as the son of Jacob and the great grandson of Abraham. Benjamin, in Genesis is both the name of one of the man who founded one of the tribes of Judaea and he is Benjamin ben Jacab ben Issac ben Abraham (they were pretty avid geneology keepers in those days Thats where all the begetting shows up.
So you can see the connection. Benjamin is the great grandson of Abraham, the father of the 3 major western religions, and he is also the leader of one of the 10 lost tribes of Israel.

if you carefully watch the opening credits for Cloverfield, you will notice a strang octagonal shape *just like the Dharma Initiative emblem* pop up. Also what seems to be random numbers and letters *coordinates* also pops up for a second. The director points the camera on it as Ethan is walking to the medicine cabinet to get a needle and syringe for Claire. I hope someone out there knows. Thanks alot for your help.
