TV Guide Interviews Rebecca Mader
The folks over at TVGuide.com have a new interview up with Rebecca Mader, who plays Charlotte on the series. The interview doesn’t contain any information that’s particularly interesting, but this is a good opportunity for us to discuss Mader’s performance. One of my fellow TTSers is bothered by her for some reason that he can’t quite pinpoint, but I personally disagree. I think she’s doing a great job. I wasn’t a fan of Mader’s work on the FOX series Justice, where she slapped on an American accent and came across as a bit stiff and bland, but so far she’s doing a bang up job on Lost.
One thing the interview mentions is the fact that Kristen Bell was originally offered the role of Charlotte, but turned it down to go work on the execrable Heroes. I love Kristen Bell like a leprechaun loves gold, and I would have done a dance of joy had she been cast on Lost. It wasn’t meant to be, but it does beg the question, would you rather see Bell as Charlotte? Or is Mader doing a fine job?

I think she is doing a spectacular job. I wouldn’t change Mader for one instant. Did I use that expression right? She comes off real natural with the role. Kudos to Mader!

I definitely like Mader as opposed to Kristen Bell…..Bell just seems too “girly” for the role…but I guess we’ll never know…

I feel like there are a lot of English actors in American shows who become oddly bland once they trade in their accents. I heard that Mader’s character was originally meant to be American even after she was hired, but I’m glad they didn’t go there. I like Mader a lot so far. She has a kind of freaky smile that goes well with the ambiguity of the character.
Incidentally, why did Locke let her go if she’s certain to spill the beans that there is a spy on the boat? Unless she is the spy, and Ben knew she was wearing a vest. Still.

Rebecca Mader is awesome as Charlotte. I like what she brings to the character, even with only two episodes. I feel it. I’m not too familiar with Kristen Bell’s work, but I don’t think she’s the perfect actress to play Charlotte. Rebecca Mader is.

I think Bell would have seemed to young to play Charlotte. I’m on team Mader.

Yeah I think she’s doing a good job as Charlotte. I don’t know what it is maybe her eyes. But she is fascinating to look at.

I do enjoy this web site and the folks who post on it…..but I am shocked and totally turned off to “The EXECRABLE HEROES….” quote!!! First off congrats on the word execrable!!! You own a thesaurus…. aren’t you Great! But really, Heroes is a good show too and one day when the mystery of Lost is over Heroes will still be plugging away with it’s infinite possibilities of new seasons and characters….is it better than Lost? No…..(well I could trade in some episodes of seasons 2 & 3) but it does not deserve to be called EXECRABLE or Abominable….those words should be saved for the Simple Life and American idol or any other non-thought related so-called “reality show”……I hate people who come on here and bash Lost…so why bash Heroes?

But to further comment…..I am sooooooooooo Glad Kristin Bell did not end up on LOST!!!! She is horrible on Heroes!!! Just HORRIBLE!!! I probably would have stopped watching every episode she was on if she came to Lost!!! THANK GOD we dodged that Bullet!

I can’t stand Kristen Bell. She is much better suited to the cheesefest that is Heroes. She is also much less believable as a mysterious scientist, as the only thing she seems to convey is ‘bratty blonde’.
