Carlton Cuse Says ‘Lost’ Season 4 to Have 13 Episodes
In a recent chat with Variety, Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse explained the plan for the remainder of season 4. Due to the fact that they won’t have time to craft eight more episodes, the plan is to complete five more episodes and tack three more on to season 5 of the series. This will bring the total of episodes in season 4 to 13.
Cuse admitted that some stories will have to be condensed, but he also said that they will be able to complete season 4’s storyline in the remaining episodes. "We’re going to try to make as many as we can and do a good job of finishing out this season," Cuse said. " We’ll have to compress some of the storytelling we planned for this season, and that may not be a bad thing. Damon and I feel like we know how we can finish it off and still make it a really, really great story."
Overall, this is great news. We may not get a full 16 episodes this season, but the story will wrap up and leave us with 19 episodes in season 5. It’s a good day for Lost fans.
16 is a cursed number anyway.

so, i know this is looking WAY into the future…but what will this mean for the season 4 DVD set??
is it going to be cheaper than the other seasons? cuz i mean, it seems kind of wrong to charge $50 for thirteen episodes, when usually were getting atleast 16 or 20…i dont know just wondering…

“16 or 20″? lol…have you ever bought a Lost boxed set? They’re all 22-23 eps depending on the season.
None of the seasons have been 16 episodes prior to this current season.

The writer’s went on strike to get royalties from the sale of DVD seasons (among other things), so that could mean that season 4 will be just as expensive at 13 episodes as the first three were at 22-24 episodes each.

Will episode 9 still occur one week after 8 or is there going to be a delay now that production is starting up again?

i know your saying that its not about quantity but quality, personally i would like more than 13 episodes in this sewries because every episode is already quality to a high standard and to lower it to 13 i dont think its a good idea and if they are going to charge the same price for it i wont bother me that much because lost is brilliant and no matter what it costs i’ll still get it. quick question based on episode 2 of season 4 - do any of you think all thats happened in all 4 seasons so far has been caused by benjamin linus eg. the fake plane crash found underwater, the jamming of the communications to stop people finding ben i believe that everything has happened because of ben and his followers does anyone agree or disagree.

i was thinking about the dvd’s too. But some HBO dvd’s cost about $40 for only 10 episodes so they will probably just keep the price the same here

I for one will be Very disappointed if a 13 ep set cost the same as the earlier 23 to 24 ep sets. That would just be wrong.
As for the writer’s pay raise making up for the difference, I don’t think so. The way I understand it, the writers have been getting something like 4 cents for a typical DVD, and with the new contract, it will double to something like 8 cents. Even if we’re talking about larger numbers since it’s it’s a multi-disc boxed set, I don’t think it should make much more than a dollar or so difference in the final price tag.

Sorry, but in these tough times I can’t justify spending the same amount of $ on 13 ep dvd’s as I would for 10 extra episodes. i don’t know how the producers can either.

I will be just as happy to pay $40-$50 for the 13 episodes because each one is SOO good.
they are all intriguing, interesting episodes that are just as good as buying a movie.
people pay $20 for a movie which is 2 hours
we are getting alot more than 4 hours with our lost.

im like u all about the price i will go out and buy it no matter what hwoever what has slightly annoyed me is the fact that i dont have sky so have no choice but to watch the boxset which i think was anther ploy to gt more boxsets sold however all the actors/actresses desvere the best pay goin
