‘Lost’ Recap Special Set to Air Before Season 4 Premiere
Though I must admit I rarely watch them, I can understand the appeal of ABC’s Lost recap specials. They get new viewers up to speed and serve as a nice reminder of all that has happened for the rest of us. However, I’ve noticed that the network always tries to pretend that big secrets will be unveiled in these recap specials, and that’s never the case. I think we all know that’s just promotional spin at this point, and that the real drama is going to unfold on the show itself.
That aside, ABC will be airing a one-hour recap special before the Lost season 4 premiere entitled "Lost: Past, Present & Future." It will air Thursday, January 31 at 8pm, and the network promises that "the special will take an in-depth look at the mysteries of both the island and its inhabitants and recap the secrets that have been revealed, as well as those that remain unanswered."
If you need a refresher on the complicated Lost mythology, I recommend checking it out. Otherwise you should spend that hour baking some Dharma cookies and preparing for a big Lost premiere party at 9pm.

I like to watch to see what they show, sometimes it can tip you off as to which ideas they will be revisiting.

You are right in that nothing is ever “revealed” in these shows but…..2 hours of Lost come on, no downside there! As for me, I am planning to lay in the Apollo bars, pop a massive amount of popcorn, turn off the phone and enjoy 2 hours of the best show on television.

I have to say its not entirely true that they dont tip us off in these specials. I remember that on the one right before the season 3 finale there was a moment where Cuse said something to the affect of, “you will know where these characters came from, are now, and how they will end up.” It struck me as odd because i didnt know what they would do to show the future. though now with the benefit of hindsight it makes perfect sense given that flashforwards seem like they are going to be a part of the show. Im not saying it was huge tip, but it did get me thinking through the whole show.

So did anyone else think the narrative voice of the Recap sounded like a computer version of Ben?
