Rebecca Mader (Charlotte?) Talks LOST
Rebecca Mader, who is thought to be playing ‘Charlotte,’ if that is her real name, has given up a few bits of information concerning her Lost experience that may or may not be telling.
Rebecca was interviewed for Star FM and naturally the question of Lost and her involvement was touched on briefly. She managed the patented radio silence bit quite well, but did give up some interesting tidbits.
When asked what group of people she belonged to, Mader pled the fifth. However, when asked if she was off island or on, she said that she was on island.
We can over speculate and see how this might come across as she is on the island from the beginning, which I would like since I projected her as a character who has been there all along, or we can assume she comes with the "not penny’s boat" crew since they are more or less guaranteed to show up in the premiere.
To further reinforce that speculation, Mader talks about her first day of rehearsal as taking place in the "jungle," and describes one particular day of shooting where she is laying on her back in the jungle with several of the characters gathered around her. I totally read something into that "laying down in the jungle" line too. Maybe she’s a member of this rogue second group of Others we’ve heard so much about (in my head). In the second season I totally believed there were 2 groups of Others, but it turns out the Others were pretending to be homeless, what with the fake beards. I still wanna know a few things about the others. When did they all get combat training, and when was Juliet’s shoulder dislocated 4 or 5 times before. But yea, hopefully Dark gets up the rest of that interview.

Laying on her back in the jungle with several of the characters gathered around her? Either she was making some extra money or perhaps it was a flashback to the crash. The people gathered around her could have been the other Lost characters, or some of the others. Her character could be a replacement for Charlie or one of Ben’s people (the few that seem to be left).

My guess is "charlotte" is to throw people off…..maybe she’s Annie. (though probably a little too young for Ben), but hey-it could happen if Alpert was young forever.

Maybe she was a crash survivor that the others found first, and convinced she was the only survivor, or something along those lines…how interesting would that be?
Failing that, she’s either gotta be from the not penny boat, or one of the Others that was in the ‘background’ a la Nikki and Paulo, and we all know how that turned out…although I suppose she could be some group of Other Others (god this is getting complex lol) who we’ll just refer to as the ‘Hostiles’ for now, for propriety’s sake, if nothing else.
I think Fahey is going to be on the boat, and they probably want to spread out the new additions, so who knows, but either way, I’m waaaaay more excited about these new characters than the ones we got into last year (cough, Nikki, Paulo, cough) but Juliet, Alpert and Ben really brought up the whole new character vibe…lets just hope there’s no N&P within the newbies this time around.

Um, Season 4 is next and we haven’t even seen the guys from the (ant)arctic station at the end of Season 2 yet. Why would you think it’s guaranteed that we’ll see the mysterious "not Penny’s boat" in the very first episode of Season 4?
Not saying you’re wrong, Doc…but "guaranteed"? I don’t think so.
