Island

Kate and Charlie talk about the possibility that the horse Kate saw was real.

Flashback (Train Station)

As Kate waits to get a train ticket to Tallahassee, she realizes that the man making conversation behind her is an FBI agent.  He tells her that she’s under arrest for murder and that her mom gave her up to the police.

Flame Station

The orientation film explains that the alarm must be entered within the 4 minute period.  It recommends that shifts are changed to keep everyone alert and refreshed.  Several splices of the film are noted missing, but Locke doesn’t think they are of any importance.  The film also warns that the computer should not be used for anything else other than entering the code.  Locke explains to Michael that pushing the button is very important, as he has been doing it since Desmond left the hatch.  Eko seems to know something.

Beach

As Kate sits by Shannon’s grave, Sayid comes by to lay a necklace on the tombstone.  As she talks to Sayid, Kate feels like she might be going crazy on the island.  Sayid tells her that he saw Walt right before Shannon got shot, so he must be crazy too.

Flashback (Cop Car)

The agent asks Kate why she killed Wayne now of any time.  He tells Kate all of the things he knows about Kate and about her mom’s abusive boyfriend.  The agent guesses that Wayne might have touched Kate and it pushed her over the edge.  As she screams that Wayne never touched her, a deer runs out into the middle of the road.  The agent swurves hitting a telephone pole.  Kate looks over and see’s the agent passed out with his head resting against the airbag.  As she fumbles to get the keys to her handcuffs from the agent’s waist, the agent comes to.  They struggle as Kate is able to kick him out of the car.  After she puts the car in drive, she looks up only to see the Black Horse.  She then quickly pulls away.

Flame Station

Locke explains that the keyboard of the hatch computer wont allow anyone to type anything into the computer until the 4 minute mark.  Michael looks around at the hardware surrounding the computer, as Locke leaves the room.  Eko tells Locke he has something important to show him, and begins telling an old story about the Old testament.  After his story he shows Locke the piece of missing tape from the Orientation filmstrip he found in the bible from the jungle.

Flashback (Army Center)

Kate visits Sam Austen, her assumed father.   After she assures him that no U.S. Marshals nor police are around the premises, she confesses to him that she found out that Wayne was her father, since Sam was fighting in Korea until about 4 months before she was born.  Sam tells Kate that he knew Kate would kill Wayne if she knew he was her father.  A teary eyed Sam tells Kate that when Kate was 5, her mom wouldn’t let Kate come with him, although he begged.  Kate asks why he didn’t kill Wayne, as he says murder isn’t in his heart.  Sam allows Kate an hour before he calls the authorities.  She gives him a hug and calls him "daddy."

Flame Station

Kate talks to Sawyer, but he’s asleep.  As she calls him "Wayne" and he mumbles as a sort of response to the name.  She tells an unconscious Sawyer that she killed Wayne because she hated that he was apart of her and that she would never be good or have good things with him in her life.  She continues that she could never be with Sawyer because he reminds her of Wayne.  Sawyer wakes and sarcastically tells Kate that what she said was sweet.  She smiles that he’s awake.  Confused that he’s in a bunk bed, Kate explains that they aren’t saved yet.  Locke and Eko fix the film strip and realize the coincidence, or maybe fate, of having the two parts of the plane landing in two parts of the island, and each place locating a piece of the filmstrip.

Jungle (Outside the Hatch)

Kate and Sawyer begin walking to the beach.  Sawyer then sees the black horse that Kate had seen on and off the island.  He asks if she knows the horse, and she says she does.

Beach

Jack offers Anna Lucia a drink.  He offers it as a peace offering.

Flame Station

Eko and Locke watch the new film strip piece.  The computer must be used for only entering the code.  Using the computer for any type of outside communication would compromise the integrity of the project and could result in another incident.
Michael begins playing with some of the wires in the back of the computer.  He looks at the computer screen and see’s the words "Hello?" written as a received message. Michael writes back, "Hello?".  They answer, "Who is this?"  He answers, This is Michael.  Who is this?"  They respond, "Dad?"
