Lost Makes Time Magazines 100 Best TV Shows of All Time
Time Magazine has chosen Lost as one of the 100 best shows of all time. There is no indication as to what the rank is for Lost, but just making the list is gratifying for fans and creators alike, for sure. To read a little bit about why it was chosen, visit the Lost entry here.

when its all said and done, Lost should be # 1. and no, I didn’t mean to make that rhyme. Seriously, though, this is doing things with television that have never been done before. Yeah, its not universally popular so it probably won’t be # 1, but its just an unbelievable program.

I’d laugh if it was no 99

i’m betting it will 4th, 8th, 15th, 16th, 23rd, or 42nd place.

Lost is been lame season 3. It is bound to decline a bit. So no, it wont probably be in the top 5. My guess for #1 is a show that isn’t on air anymore.

Aaron: What show were you watching this year? Season 3 rocked

What really bothers me about this accolade is that "Married with Children" is the next TV show on the list.
For a ranking of ALL TIME tv shows, the bar must not be all that high!
Not to take anything away from our beloved LOST, but…

Helen/Pat Bundy would probably disagree. And it’s difficult to compare across genres. Of course a comedy isn’t going to have the intensity of LOST. LOST should be number one and it is universally popular, in fact it is watched by a higher percentage of people in other countries than it is in the US, which makes me very sad. I guess for us in the US, there just isn’t enough, "OMG! I can’t believe you slept with my best friend and my coworker and my sister, I love you, let’s get back together." It’s quite embarassing. Oh well, cheers to LOST and everyone involved in the production of the greatest TV show in my lifetime or for the past 24 years.

lostlover - the reason "Married With Children" is next is because they are listed in Alphabetical order. They are not in their ranking order there. It will be interesting to find out what LOST’s rank will be in the end.
It should at least make the top 25. I personally think it should be in the top 5 at least, just on its innovation alone. There never has been a show on the air like it. (There never will. *wink*)

Rob -
Maybe it’s just me, but I was kind of shocked to see "Married with Children" on the top 100 list at all! I understand that they’re not ranked. Those being ranked next to each other would be an additional slap in the face! But geez, what is the standard for a show getting on this list?!
To me, "Married with Children" landing on this list is like "Nikki and Paolo" turning out to be on Naomi’s freighter. {cringes}
I definitely agree though - LOST should be top 25.

I haven’t even read the list but it would be hard to believe if MASH wasn’t number 1…

Okay, I think Lost will be top 20, especially once it’s over (maybe higher). I am by no rights, a real fan of Married with Children, but you have to understand that a show that runs that long can not just be superficially judged by people who only flip though it as complete crap. It was an edgy show then, it is funny even when I don’t think i should be laughing. Think about how many shows have been on television. MASH will probably be #1 but i’m hoping for arrested development just to hit the top 100. I personally think Lost and Arrested Development may be the best shows (other than Simpsons as a Cultural Phenomenon) in my short lifetime, but that doesn’t mean the great majority of people believe the same thing as me. Mr. Show deserves a nod but I doubt it’ll be on the list. Maybe i’m just sick of harsh criticism because I like most everything. I can find things wrong with everything, including lost, but that doesn’t mean i’m going to go around criticizing with blinders on. "those shows i don’t watch can’t be good, I don’t watch them." Oh, and I’m hoping for Dr. Katz to get a nod too, but not everybody thinks neuroses are funny. I think bohemus is right: hopefully 8, 15, or 16 this go around.

hurleybird - Arrested Development is on the list, but no Mr. Show. There’s a link to the complete list from the Lost description page.

I wanted to know if there’s any info about the first episode’s name…?

hurleybird - for the record, I used to watch Married with Children regularly, and i LIKE the show. Agree completely that it’s funny. I love doing my Al Bundy impressions. Great characters, great show. I was just surprised that it made the top 100. Very surprised. I don’t by any means think it was a classic anywhere near the likes of LOST.
There’s an article attached to that listing where the author explains his choices. He made all the choices himself and admited that the list is subjective. It’s his opinion, but I also think that the list is far less valid since it’s just one guy’s opinion sorting through thousands and thousands of tv shows. Hooray for LOST, Arrested Development, and others. Nice to get more national recognition. At least Grey’s Anatomy isn’t on the list…….but I’ll stop critcizing.

in the simpsons entry, he ends it with Best. TV Show. Ever. I think he gave away his #1.

There is no number. Thats the point and i like it that way. So many tv shows are bad and the debate about which one is the best will continue on and on for years. 100 is good, Lost being there is wicked. Sopranos too, wicked. The review itself is limiting in its appreciation, prefering to salute its greatness because of fandom which is BS. The clues and hidden sci fi elements are what make the show interesting, its not the discussion behind it.
