Lost Producers Talk About the LOST Videogame
EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) has an awesome four page spread in the issue hitting stores today. Included are the requisite screen shots and blurbs, but also another pinhole opening in the radio silence veil.
One of the more interesting bits of the conversation reveals the following:
EGM: So will the game solve any mysteries from the show at all or just focus on Elliott?
DL: In terms of solving mysteries, we leave that to the mothership. The game basically just deals with Elliott’s mysteries. He’s actually able to explore a couple of areas of the island that our characters either haven’t found or have chosen not to explore, but other than that, I think if we revealed major mysteries in the game, the audience who watches the show would be pissed off.
CC: Yeah, they’d cry foul. What the game does, though, is the character explores things that you’ve seen on the show that you maybe wanted to know more about. What’s behind the wall in the Hatch, where the mysterious electromagnetism is…
DL: Now that the Hatch is blown up, you would never get an opportunity to see that room on the real show, so…
A good summary of the article can be found right here.
(Thanks to Patrick for the info!)

Wait, what is behind that damn wall?

They want you to buy the game, so they won’t tell you everything.

"entering the numbers into the computer unlocks the island’s computer network"
interesting, hopefully some light will be shown on who was talking to michael and wether or not the swan was really connected to the other hatches in any meaningful way.
I’m betting there will be worthwhile revelations made in the video game, somewhere along the lines of the Lost Experience. Sure, they want to keep people watching the show so you aren’t going to solve every mystery but there is going to be plenty of material to satisfy fans willing to put in the effort.

WOW DocArzt, I’ve been away, and it’s clear that I’ve missed much … this is GRreat!
= think our Producers really said that we can now ONLY explore the Swan interior thru "their" game, without ruling out Flashbacks … capitalism does mostly benefit all! I very much need a LOST fix, and am buying $EGM$ this morning.
= "Bohemus" posts "entering the numbers into the computer unlocks the island’s computer network". Where did you get this?!?? My head is like the 4th of July, particularly thinking beyond about what is unlocked and/or locked!

So is Eliott just the name of the character that you play?

TailSection Kibbutz: just bought my first ever copy of EGM for $6.27, and think the LOST 4-pager is worth it.
= The Elliott character rationales are well discussed. I was surprised that a character’s individual “redemption” need was cited as a major theme.
= Exciting to me is the interview with our Producers in which they said that they purposefully are planting “a lot of Easter eggs in the game”. I trust our buddy DocArzt will create a TailSection game forum with an Easter Egg subforum.
= The game screenshots are also very interesting if canon. For example, the station and tunnels are both cruder and larger than I expected, particularly the crude infrastructure like electrical wiring and meters. Though, obviously much construction took place, so someone and groups were highly motivated to quickly explore and exploit our Island.
Free and transparent, thus uncorrupt, Capitalism rules … including my recent $6.27 investment!

in the FAQ on the 1up page link it says that the numbers will unlock the computer network.
If you watch the trailer, toward the end there is a flash of a chat log on the computer right before it shows locke. the message is something like ‘find us and we will show you the way’

I wonder it the others/dharma initiaive barracks are in the game. If so…sweet.
Comment by Tyler Cheman — September 6, 2007 @ 2:46 pm
since it takes place before the exodus to the temple i would bet you don’t go to the barracks…. however, wouldn’t it be cool if your character, elliot, was like cindy and got nabbed/converted to the others. ie the end of the game is you accepting whatever the others give you as the truth, then we later see Elliot in the show as an other
