Lost Spoilers! The Latest Intel - Disinformation Watch! Lost Season 4 Previews?
If you’ve been making your rounds you probably know that some juicy tidbits have begun to circulate, including several purported previews for Lost Season 4. Here’s the low down on the latest and, as usual, my feelings. But first, the Tailsection Season 4 Spoiler policy.
Alot of frustration was aimed at yours truly last year over my stance concerning the finale spoilers. My position hasn’t changed. While I am dedicated to sharing the most interesting, tantalizing, and conversation provoking info, I act as a true fan here and will remain reformed of the practice of posting ‘ruiners.’ The kind of information I consider to be a ‘ruiner’ would be details such as the closing scene of an episode, a pivotal plot point, or any other aspect that would be best enjoyed without forewarning. I do not consider character centricity - in most cases - to be ruining, nor would I consider the chronology of an episode’s flash_____ to be ruining. Guest cast is not ruining. Full synopsis of an episode the morning of airing, most definitely ruining.
So without further ado. How about a game of two lies and a truth to kick off what will be a fun hiatus full of all sorts of bogus information. One of these widely spread spoilers is true, the other two are false. Care to guess?
- The premiere is Sawyer Centric
- Matthew Fox will be absent from several episodes
- Hurley or Sawyer have been marked for termination this season
Just a general rule of thumb folks. Beware of the man on the street intel. Since the show doesn’t air for several months, the producers have a certain luxury open to them when it comes to scheduling the shooting of flash backs/forwards, or even present tense Lost episodes. In general, Lost Spoilers that arise from a fleeting glimpse of shooting should be held in that context. If we had caught the scene with Sawyer nearly being hit by a car in the Ana Lucia flashback, for instance, we might have assumed that was a Sawyer episode. (wink wink). It aint official, until it’s official.
There is, apparently, a Lost Season 4 promo playing at kiosks in Disneyland/world. I’ve heard a few different things though. One says it is most definitely a new promo with no footage and no start date built around a ‘defend the island’ motif. The other says that the promo is actually the Lost video game trailer. Anybody who works at Disneyland out there? inquiring minds want to know.
One thing is for sure, this promo - courtesy of my friend Francisco at www.seriesblog.es - is NOT what it seems to be. It looks like the very same promo shot with a camera phone or similar gadget. It’s a rouse. Some footage is from We Are Marshall, some is from what appears to be Platoon, and still more looks like it might be from Transformers or Next, I can’t tell.
If nothing else, the dead give away is the start date. When ABC has a time slot picked, I’m sure we’ll know about it.

So you’ve basically said that there is no way to be sure the premiere is Sawyer centric and it’d be stupid to believe two favorites are marked for death so Matt Fox being absent from several episodes again this season must be the winner. Since you know this is true, can you tell us why they are doing this again this season? Is it because he’s working on other projects? Why are the writers giving their three most interesting characters and best actors (Terry O’Quinn, Matt Fox and Naveen Andrews) so much down time? We barely saw Locke and Sayid last season, is that situation going to improve this year?

I work at Disneyland, I’ll check out our area and see whats happening. I might be able to get a movie with my camera if I actually see it airing. Otherwise I’ll talk to cast tv to see if they know anything about it.

I hope we get a Sawyer opener, for the simple fact that the other two outcomes wouldn’t be very nice.
In terms of the trailer, I agree — not real, recycled material, but entertaining regardless. Great job to whoever made that. ‘Whatever keeps me going!

Actually, you said one of those three items was true, and there is only one that you could know to absolutely be true if you are really connected to those that would know and that’s the Matt Fox rumor because they’d never give up the other information this early. So is one of those items absolutely true or are you backing off of that now? I guess I don’t understand the game.

no comment on the spoilers. but i do have a comment on spoilers, which is, i agree wholeheartedly with you. i was one of many that read last seasons finale thanks to that pig fucker lostfan108 and i regret doing so. i will be spoiler free 100% this year. kick ass site and keep up the great work.

Even if you aren’t ready to declare the season premiere Sawyer-Centric, I seriously doubt Fox will be missing "multiple episodes" and the producers have literally laughed at the idea of ever killing Hurley. Sawyer hasn’t had an episode in almost 20 episodes, I’d say he’s due. And with the ship people arriving at the beach, and Sawyer at the beach, and Sawyer being Sawyer, it doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility that it will be a Sawyer-Centric premiere.

I too agree with your take on the spoiler issue. What happened last season was horrible and got out so fast that I ran across it in a place that wasn’t supposed to contain spoilers. I felt like a little kid that just found out there was no Santa. It was awful.
Comment by Luke — August 29, 2007 @ 6:29 pm
Hurley’s gotta go. Waste of space.
Comment by Michael Dobrofsky — August 29, 2007 @ 6:36 pm
Every season there’s this rumour about Matthew Fox, i bet it’s a lie again!
Comment by Mike — August 29, 2007 @ 7:02 pm
Spoilers!
I read on spoilerfix that the premier is Sawyer-centric, sooo…I guess we’ll get to see more Matthew Fox. How awesome and totally unexpected. /sarcasm
Comment by Bek — August 29, 2007 @ 7:20 pm
pffff
I don’t think Sawyer will die…. my money’s on Hurley to go
Besides, ABC knows that Sawyer’s one of the most popular characters so if he’s gone… a lot of audience wil be loose, and… Damon Lindleof said it was his fav character

This game is stupid just tell us whats up
Comment by Roger — August 29, 2007 @ 10:17 pm
The third one may be true. A Sawyer season opener sounds pretty weak to me, if they won’t show something important about the things going on the Island. I prefer a Ben or Desmond premiere. Seeing what they did to Eko, Sawyer’s death should be close.
Comment by Curt — August 30, 2007 @ 12:27 am
Its sawyer centric
Comment by Sbujero — August 30, 2007 @ 1:37 am
Isn’t Matthew Fox still filming Speed Racer?? Maybe that’d explain the short absence?
Comment by Dan — August 30, 2007 @ 1:39 am
hey doc, i gotta agree with you, theres no place for ruiners here. spoilers that provoke conversation is why were here.
once again, keep up the good work!!
rich.

That Preview is false, because it says ( Wednesday February 7th , Lost Returns ) Next year February 7th will be Thursday
Comment by Clayton — August 30, 2007 @ 6:43 am
Sounds like Doc is giving us a big clue: Just because someone saw Sawyer filming scenes does not mean the first episode of the season will be a Sawyer flashback/forward.
(1) Sawyer could be making a cameo in someone *elses* flashback/forward
(2) They could be shooting out of sequence … maybe Sawyer’s flashback/forward is the 2nd or 3rd episode?
As for the rumors, I think the Matthew Fox one sounds the most logical. Didn’t I read on one of the LOST sites that someone confirmed he is in Berlin filming SPEED RACER. I know Susan Sarandan is filming SPEED RACER now, too.
I travel to Hawaii on Tuesday … staying with a friend on Oahu … I will have my camera ready and my eyes open for LOST clues!!!
Comment by Matt — August 30, 2007 @ 6:51 am
Speed Racer filming wrapped up last weekend.
Comment by Luke — August 30, 2007 @ 7:08 am
I vote that it is a Sawyer centric episode. It’s true that Sawyer hasn’t had one in awhile so it would make sense. I hope it’s a flash-forward!
Comment by Shiloh — August 30, 2007 @ 7:42 am
Guys the first episode is Sawyer-Centric. Guaranteed— already heard that it was fact
Comment by Beatty — August 30, 2007 @ 7:43 am
Why bash the Sawyer-centric episode? If it’s a flashforward, and we see him off the Island, it would be typical LOST. Giving us more questions before they even begin to answer anything. My money’s on Sawyer-centric, or the tease of him showing up in anothers flashback.
That girl on E said that Fox has been around filming already, so no reason to believe at this point that Fox is taking any kind of hiatus.
If they ever kill Hurley or Sawyer, it would definitely be during sweeps. Even then, either one could show up in someone else’s flashback. Based upon the facts that we know, Kate and Jack definitely get off the Island. No one else showed up to the funeral, which is most certainly connected to the Island. So we can’t be sure that anyone else survives (nor can we be sure that they all aren’t chilling on the beach at that point either). And if the person in the coffin is Sawyer (can’t be portly Hurley), then he’s dead at that point in the future. To say the producers would never kill either of these characters off is an emotional response and not based upon any facts.
Comment by Higdon — August 30, 2007 @ 1:06 pm
A Sawyer premiere is not very appealling to me, given the nature of his flashbacks so far. There is nothing I want to learn about Sawyer’s past (the goes for many of the old characters). If the premiere is a flashforward, Sawyer is not the first person I want to learn about but if if it will show something about the things going on the Island, then it’s alright. But I want a Locke episode.
Matthew Fox may not be appearing in several episodes thoughout the season. He has some films to promote I think. On contrary to many internet fans, I hopeb this is not true..
Hurley or Sawyer dying? I hope but I don’t think so. I’m all for death in Lost (except Jack & Locke) if handled well.
Comment by Can — August 30, 2007 @ 4:25 pm
I don’t think Doc was saying anything concrete about the "two lies and one truth," he was making a point.
I also have read from many sources that they are shooting a lot of things WAY out of sequence this season, since some of the actors have other projects going on. Plus, almost the entire season will be filmed before it even starts airing, so they can definitely afford to do that.
Comment by RodimusBen — August 31, 2007 @ 4:29 am
Does anybody know when Lost will be back on our screens in England??
Comment by Sally — September 2, 2007 @ 9:13 am
The person in the coffin in the last episode of season 3 was Locke…100%…No family, no friends, and kate had to leave jack to go see sawyer….Im telling you that is whats going on.
Comment by Bob Mack — September 6, 2007 @ 11:37 am
Please, please, please use the spelling
lose
when referring to a loss of some kind, and
loose
when referring to either something that hasn’t been secured/anchored or a woman of questionable morals
Please. I’m just sayin’

Ive just been to MGM whilst on holiday in sunny Florida and i whilst in the abc diner i viewed the lost advert and it is genuine - all season 3 footage and talking about defending the island because something mega bad is on its way… it got my heart pumping anyway!!!
Comment by Ian Perrett — September 11, 2007 @ 2:34 pm
I hear premiere is Hurley centric and he will be "offed" early this season.
Comment by fighter — September 12, 2007 @ 2:33 pm
There is one important detail to have in my mind: the producers already know the exact number of episodes until the end of the show, which means they could mix the filming of all three seasons if some of the actors have an important project or something. That would mean it’s completely useless to speculate about the photos and the new material when everything is a part of one great puzzle.
Comment by Truthseeker — September 19, 2007 @ 3:16 pm
Its not stupid to speculate truth seeker, its what helps us get through the agonising months waitinf for lost. although i agree they could mix it up, there is no harm in speculation, isnt that what having forums and being able to post commenys is all about?
Comment by The Lost King — September 29, 2007 @ 3:50 pm
I absolutely LOVE Sawyer and Kate. Sawyer is the main reason i watch LOST. The writers can’t possibly kill him off. He is the most popular, most gorgeous character.
