More Lost Casting News! Light Spoilers.
This is an excellent opportunity for you guys to chime in and let me know how you feel about casting. Is Casting a spoiler, or not? I do not consider it a spoiler since the presence of the actor doesn’t reveal anything about the story.
I’m especially psyched about this one. Jeff Fahey. He was Jobe in the original Lawnmower Man (Which, incidentally, Stephen King disowned because it was so wildly removed from his short story), and was also in one of my favorite Cheese ball horror flicks of all time, Body Parts.
I’m going to be duping Carlton Cuse’s comment here - mostly because it is flat out true - but Fahey has the most piercing eyes, and like so many of the other casting choice he just has this tension to him… coiled evil…
So Fahey is on board, and the the role is top secret, of course. You can read more from Carlton and Jeff Jensen on www.ew.com.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhh…..JACOB!!!!!

Here are my two possibilities: Degroots or the DJ of pirate radio station transmitted from a ship off the coast of Washington that mysteriously disappeared. Oddly enough the DJ was promently featured in an early film by a director that later changed the way movies are made.

concerning whether this is a spoiler or not, as a precedent, E!’s Kristen put this same casting news in her non-spoiler section of her spoiler chat, so that might help. personally, I think casting news is a little spoilery.

If he’s not cast as Jacob, I think I’ll eat my hat. lol

Jacob! Could be Magnus Hanso, but i don’t think so. He is perfect for Jacob.
Comment by Jake — August 27, 2007 @ 7:16 pm
He looks exactly like Jacob!!!!!! And dare I say, he bares a resemblance to John Locke. Also, casting news should not be considered a spoiler. We all knew that they would be casting a Jacob eventually.

Guys, the Jacob we saw in The Man Behind The Curtain has dark eyes o.0!
Comment by Jake — August 27, 2007 @ 7:26 pm
No way… Jeff Fahey?! He’s a crappy b-actor! I hope he dies off quick. And no, there’s no way he’s Jacob. Locke is Jacob… just like Kate and Jack are Adam and Eve. No doubt about it.
Comment by steeeeve — August 27, 2007 @ 7:30 pm
could be wrong, but i DOUBT he will be Jacob.
i’m even betting we wont even see Jacob in the 4th season
Comment by South_park300 — August 27, 2007 @ 7:30 pm
I don’t think it is Jacob… they would keep that a secret.
Comment by DedJezter — August 27, 2007 @ 8:54 pm
This is the BEST casting news since they cast Henry Ian Cusick! :D I absolutely ADORE Jeff Fahey and just when I didn’t think my favorite show could do better … this comes along! YeeHaa! Howdy, Cowboy! This is G.R.E.A.T. !!!!

Ok, I haven’t seen him in anything, but can his voice be compared to the "help me" from Jacob?
He’s either Jacob or the resident college professor who sells weed to his students.

I wouldn’t say that posting the casting info is spoilery, or that the fan reaction would be either, but it does affect the veiwer. Of course, if someone wanted a pristine introduction to each episode and season, why would tehy come to a board or this post in the first place. Several of the boards I visit are kind enough to segregate discussion (topics are rarely blended until after each part is public knowledge). Also, I think that if this information is truly damaging to the experience of the show, the producers and network would do a little more to keep it under wraps.

I know that it is tempting to assume he will have a crap performance as someone above said since he is a ‘b actor’ but hell, in the context of our favourite show it could be really something else. it has been shown with other ‘b list actors’ on LOST befor that they are really enduring and awesome characters. i am willing to wait it out, it may be surprisingly way cool! plus, when i was a jr. in high school, i wrote a term paper in spanish for my spanish class about how "lawnmower man" was my favourite film! i got a C+
Comment by Frenk Melk — August 28, 2007 @ 5:39 pm
Frenk Melk,
I agree. Besides, the show is filled with "B" actors (and Kate is played by someone who had never done more than modeling and playing a corpse before Lost!). And Fahey is not a "B" actor talent-wise. He’s very good. Just one of the many that never managed to go to "A" class … why? Blame it on Hollywood that has this image of what a leading man should be. And, sadly, talent hardly every plays into that formula.

Howdy Mr. Cuse, Did you also write on the movie Pretty Woman? I loved Nash Bridges, have currently been in the l880’s so I have not seen Lost. Did you tie up the loose ends? Keep on writing! Tell Jenny HI/
