Lost Blu Ray Artwork Hits
Yes, it is very…. blue, but it is Lost and that is all that matters.
The official box-art for the Blu-Ray set hit Amazon recently, and it looks, well, basically the same as the standard DVD box. I was hoping for some green foil leaves, maybe a gold foil Lost Logo, but hey, at least the extra fifty bucks gets you over 200% of the standard DVD resolution, or does it?
It’s funny that Disney is allowing retailers to accept money for the set but is being absolutely hush hush over what it contains! I’ve been hammering on the E-Mail addresses of the folks I’ve been informed are in charge of the Blu Ray set on behalf of both TTS and BuddyTV and am getting nothing but silence. My key questions are:
Will the set include a new transfer from the negative to 1080p? Or an upsample of the broadcast 720p?
Were any of the behind the scenes extras shot with HD cameras, or will they be upsampled SDTV?
These are important questions. Luckily, Doc is already Blu Ray equipped, but as an Easter Egg aficionado I would more than just a bit perturbed to find out that episodes were upsampled from 720p, and therefore providing no additional detail, AFTER handing out a bunch of Ben Franklins for a Blu Ray player.
Of course, our Lost creative crew is not to blame for this, but Disney should really just get over themselves and release some details already.

Doc, don’t worry. Lost season 3 is mastered in 1080p/24, and my insider at Buena Vista/Disney Home Entertainment says these are a straight transfer from the masters.

GodBlessTexas, can you please ask your inside about this release being codefree? This is really important to me…

DocArzt - Agreed. My guess is that the details on the BD set are going to be identical to the ones on the DVD set, but I’ll ask my source and see if he has any info.
Samuray - I’ll also ask him about region coding. I’ll post as soon as I have a response.

That would be great, thanks!

My insider at Disney/Buena Vista says that the extras will most likely be the same extras from the DVD, either in SD only (most likely form his response) or a mix of SD and HD where HD elements exist.
As for region coding, there’s no definitive word.

Well, thanks for asking anyway. Did you hear if the one or the other scenario might be more likely than the other?
