Now Don’t Freak Out but….
Thanks to Daniel for this tidbit of info sure to cause shock waves of speculation.
LOST actor Terry O’Quinn has put his Haleiwa, Hawaii home on the market for $2.94 million.

Yes, this could mean that Terry will not be involved with production. It could also indicate that production is being relocated, as has long been a possibility.
Production of season four begins in Mid-August and will complete in March 2008.

I read in an interview somewhere that he said he prefers to work out of hotel rooms and stuff, but he coulda been blowin smoke.

yeah id already heard about this. I dont think it means much. Actors sell houses and stuff all the time. Locke maybe wont return until next season. So we think hes dead but he returns next season as Super-Locke filled with island power. And then later we get flashbacks about what happened to him. So if they dont need him for awhile he might want to go and do other stuff somewhere.

no biggie!
Comment by nickk — May 20, 2007 @ 9:13 am
i really don’t think they are waiting until next season to show what happened to Locke. that wouldn’t make any sense…plus the creators already said that Locke and Jack have some fight in the finale.
i need to resist coming to this page in the next few days just in case i stumble upon spoilers! eek!
Comment by South_park300 — May 20, 2007 @ 9:23 am
He probably needs the money to renovate Jacob’s shack.
Comment by Him — May 20, 2007 @ 10:05 am
What’s with the bright yellow walls? He’s probably trying to sell it before it dips below what he paid for it!
Comment by sheila — May 20, 2007 @ 10:09 am
not a biggie as in an interview with Kirsten he said he prefers hotels while working to give him his freedom
Comment by steve — May 20, 2007 @ 10:20 am
Hes just selling thats all, we all if not most know he is not done with lost, and I know he lives there with his family and loves it so maybe he is just getting some new digs closer to the set.
Comment by drew — May 20, 2007 @ 10:24 am
I wouldn’t be too worried, and I wouldn’t be surprised if others start selling too. Because of the shorter seasons, and August-March work schedule, the cast will have 4-5 months between to do other things, and Terry has, and perhaps others will decide that the extra month or so off is enough to start spending more time inland…
that being said…if this indicates Locke leaving the show or a move to another filming locale, I’ll be perturbed. Locke seems far too crucial to the show’s mythology for him to exit, and for both story and aesthetic reasons, I’d hate to see the location change…
Comment by wedestroymyths — May 20, 2007 @ 10:44 am
Could also be to do with the fact that Terry has to walk 2 hours along a beach to get to the set. He says he likes it but it could be making him mad at this stage!!
Comment by Stephen Byrne — May 20, 2007 @ 10:46 am
Totally off topic but…where is the new podcast?? Are they not doing one in reaction to the spoiler/foilers?
Comment by killbot. — May 20, 2007 @ 10:59 am
Oh man…I read about this TWO weeks ago and I assumed all of you knew. Sorry about that I would have said something earlier.

I heard this some time ago. I don’t think it means anything really. I think we speculate too much on this stuff. I mean, Naveen’s actions and Evies comments off camera might lead one to suspect that they too might not be coming back or at least could be written off. Dom as well.
Comment by downthehatch — May 20, 2007 @ 11:38 am
Has anyone heard if Lost will be shooting outside of Hawaii next year? On Leno last week, Matthew Fox said that he’d just finished shooting in LA the night before. That could’ve been misleading, or could’ve been a one-off location shoot, but could at least some production be moving off island in future?
Comment by Maya — May 20, 2007 @ 11:55 am
This may be the first the public is reading or hearing about this, but Terry O’Quinn may have been trying to sell for a while. As to why, there could be a myriad of reasons that don’t have anything to do with his role on the show.
And in response to the idea that Locke will not be seen until next season… this would be a catastrophic mistake in my opinion. I can accept not getting any additional insight into the Jacob conundrum, but a Lost finale without Locke is not a Lost finale.
Comment by Sandleford — May 20, 2007 @ 12:10 pm
It’s also possible that with seasons now only being 16 episodes, and not every character being in every episode, actors may no longer have as big of a need to have a house in hawaii for filming.
Comment by Jason — May 20, 2007 @ 1:05 pm
I doubt he will leave. He is intergal to the mythology of the show. His journey is the journey of the audience. Honestly, I can not imagine to continue to watch the show if Locke is absent. I am not one for romance so the Kate/Sawyer/Jack trio has no appeal to me. I was hoping locke would hook up with Danielle.

Sorry to take this offtopic, but I’m with killbot. - where is the new podcast? Assuming we haven’t been duped with some foilers or something, is this supposed to be our punishment for the finale leaking or something? Doesn’t seem like a coincidence, if you ask me….
Comment by KrissyLove — May 20, 2007 @ 1:59 pm
I believe the article also states he’d rather live in hotels.
I called it. This was suppsoed to be the last podcast and I bet they’ll stop doing them next season because of these finale spoilers shenanigans. I’m glad, all those addicts that craved for the spoilers are going to get punished.
Comment by Muscle_Bob_Buff_Pants — May 20, 2007 @ 2:19 pm
Ummmmm, i could be wrong, but didn’t you read them?lol.
Comment by LiLi — May 20, 2007 @ 2:27 pm
I doubt this means much. They are doing shortened seasons and they know when the show is going to end. If I was only going to spend half the time in Hawaii and I knew that I would only be there for 3 more years on a shortened schedule then I would probally sell my house.
Comment by Sloaf — May 20, 2007 @ 3:24 pm
Umm, hasn’t this information about Terry selling his home been out for quite some time now??
Hardly new news.
Comment by Sara — May 20, 2007 @ 4:34 pm
As of season 4, Lost will no longer be shooting in Hawaii… no joke. ABC will announce it soon enough I’m sure.

This is a Great Marketing for the house selling and for the show.
MAkes everybody think he wont return, but he will, and makes everyone want to buy the damed house!!
Easy

@ Muscle_Bob: I’m glad too. I really hope they get their just desserts, because the finale I so anticipated has been about 40% ruined because of all this. Oh, how beautiful it would be.
Although, I will miss the podcasts. But it’s worth it, it really is.

I know this is off topic but somebody mentioned that production will take from August-March, but for 16 episodes? Even if that meant from the last day of August to the first day of March that would be 6 months for 16 episodes! Considering the flashback nature of the show where they can have more than one shoot going on at the same time, how could it possibly take them so long to shoot the show?
Comment by ThomasamohT — May 21, 2007 @ 8:41 am
Primary Production is being moved to Los Angeles for a variety of reasons:
1. As someone mentioned, the shortened season means a much shorter filming schedule - negating the necessity of cast/crew living in Hawaii.
2. Many of the cast, particularly the more popular ones, communicated the necessity to be back in L.A. to pursue other opportunities. Shooting in L.A. gives the production flexibility in terms of actor availability. Expect a more non-linear production schedule next year (i.e. if Fox is shooting a flick, they can shoot more of his scenes spanning various episodes in one batch of time). Fame is fickle - you can’t wait until your cult show shot on an island comes to an end to make the most of your marketability. And your hit show’s stars becoming bigger stars only increases the popularity of the show.
3. My understanding is currently, Lost is the most expensive Network show in terms of production (star salaries - not so sure). It’s likely that in order to continue producing a show of high-quality, ABC or the powers that be negotiated to have production moved to L.A. to save a SIGNIFICANT amount of money.
Everybody’s happy. Well everyone but all the wonderful union crew in Hawaii who worked hard on that show for the past three years.
Significant amounts of filming (exteriors) will continue to be done in Hawaii.

I love celebrity real estate. Everyone has to live somewhere, even the people inside your little DVR.
I commented on this story on my blog before I read the comments over here.
Is it confirmed that they’re moving production to LA? Can someone provide a link to verify it?

Kristin from E! actually already put something out there about this; she said that Terry O’Quinn said he fares better in hotel rooms, or something to that extent.

It’s nothing, the bins/trash cans are full, as are the dish washer and washing machine. The beds need making up and the windows need cleaning.
So what does any self respecting actor do?
Sell up and get a new one, no big deal guys!
Anyways, I heard he’s moving in with Jacob, apparently it was love at first sight, hatred of electricity, running water ect, and both buzzing with island power. A match made in heaven, or maybe hell.
Spooky!
