Lost Season Three DVD Info
Just got this info from somebody in the industry, but not necessarily in ABC’s neck of the woods so some details may be a little off.
Season three will be released later than the previous box sets, possibly late September. The rumor is that the box set will include three extras disks! One will be the typical extras disk, another is something that is supposed to help LOST fans pass the time (?) and the third will contain a demo of the LOST video game from UBISoft.
Speaking of which, the LOST video game is expected to debut around that time, am I correct? Anybody know?
I wasn’t able to get an answer to my most burning question though: what color scheme will the box-art be! Also no word on what platform the LOST video game demo will be fore, but I’d bet PC. Interestingly enough, Ubisoft has been very very quiet about the development of the game. I know it is based on the Crytel/Far Cry engine. Seems unlikely they’d turn LOST into a fps though?

Any word on any of the first three seasons coming out on HD / Blueray DVD ?

Yea Doc if you can then interrogate people about the bonus content. I’m hoping for at least 7 episodes of commentary, hopefully more than 1 making an episode from pre to post production (season 2 only had Fire + Water), and a lot of featurettes.
That second disk to keep the fans happy….maybe it is an offical, cannonical, island map of every location we’ve been show so far? A lot of people have been wondering where everything is in relation to each other so an interactive map would kick ass.

The demo of the game will be PC. Its meant to be here next month, but obviously that was never happening what with no info or screens been seen at all, and your info just confirms everyones suspicions of a delay.
Im very interested in this disc thats meant to keep us occupied.

sounds awesome, hope it’s all true!
as for the color of the box, i would say, maybe green? or purple?
Comment by South_park300 — May 16, 2007 @ 11:04 am
anyone think the image on the box will be the season 3 image of close ups of everyone’s eye?

So is this game coming out for Xbox 360, PS3, etc. or is it JUST a PC game?
Comment by Steeeeve — May 16, 2007 @ 11:17 am
Yeah I think the dvd color will be green and it’ll be the close up of the eyse probably seeing how the past dvds have been the seasons posters
Comment by DarthVibbert — May 16, 2007 @ 11:25 am
The game is coming out on PC, 360, & PS3. That game engine could easily be adapted for use in an oblivion or bioshock type of game - fprpg, possibly.
Comment by mafafu — May 16, 2007 @ 11:29 am
You must mean the Crytek Engine…
Comment by Dale — May 16, 2007 @ 11:45 am
I hope the game comes out on PS3. I’ve got a mac and we all know how game developers love to make games that work on macs, so if it’s PC only I’m a bit stuck!
bluray release of the episodes would be good but not essential. they overcharge so must atm for next-gen video formats.
thanks for finding this doc

thats a true lost fan, one who’s wondering what “colour” the box art will be
Comment by nickk — May 16, 2007 @ 11:51 am
Just because the game engine has been used in the past for FPS, it does not mean that’s the only area it’s capable in. The Unreal engine has been used in a variety of games both shooters and in other genres.
Hope the bonus disc has some of those mobisodes we heard about though- they could be used to pass the time etc?
Comment by RichardAM — May 16, 2007 @ 12:09 pm
I actually had the chance to ask Damon and Carlton that directly. They said there were no plans at this time. I think the industry is just waiting for the hardware to proliferate to justify the cost of new transfers etc…
Comment by DocArzt — May 16, 2007 @ 12:11 pm
I’m personally hoping that it will come out for Wii.
Comment by valentin_50 — May 16, 2007 @ 12:23 pm
Sure wish I could get my hands on that “keep us occupied” disk a week from tomorrow!!!
Comment by gusteaux — May 16, 2007 @ 12:29 pm
There should be a bonus level where you plug in your guitar control from Guitar Hero and play Drive Shaft songs. That would own.
Comment by Steeeeve — May 16, 2007 @ 12:32 pm
Maybe they will include a modified version of “The Lost Experience” game on one of those DVD’s….
That would be fantastic!!
Comment by Christine — May 16, 2007 @ 1:02 pm
If only Bioware was making the game…
Ubiscrap games suck !

Doc, any word on whether or not ABC plans to rerun S3 this summer? I have all episodes taped except the first five. I’d like to have a complete set on tape to hold me over until the DVD comes out in Sept. Don’t all contracts for all network shows include the rights for at least one on-net rerun?

HERES MY TWO CENTS
I have been thinking about what Season 3 would look like in my DVD collection and from the trend, I’m thinking the colour will be green. The first season was blue - like the water or “oceanic”, the second rusty because of the hatch and this season is back in to the heart of the jungle (and look at the promo poster with all the leaves and such)
I also think that like the first two, it will have a cover-sleeve the slides off with a transparent middle where you see all the characters, it would be amazing if this season it has all of the survivors lined up on the front like the other seasons, BUT if you chose to flip the case around inside the sleeve you can have a similar cast line up but with all of the others! That’d be cool (sort of like on the season 1 dvd you can switch between the cast silhouttes on the ridge or the blue overlay on jack, charlie and kate with the wreckage behind them.
I’m hoping they offer demos on different platforms so you can get the dvd with the platform of your choice, i’d prefer the demo on 360, but I guess it will be on the marketplace at the same time.

I am more interested if there is going to be a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD version… By September I might have a PS3 that has a Blu-Ray drive in it.
Comment by Eugenia — May 16, 2007 @ 1:33 pm
September?, but i want to buy it now, well not right now but soon, after the season finishes
Comment by SolidGoldChimp — May 16, 2007 @ 1:34 pm
The game will be dank.
It is supposed to be very relevant and tied in to the overall mythology of the show. A few weeks ago on the Official Lost Podcast Damon said he played the demo and was very excited about the release.
I’m hearing the game will be very similar to Myst except with next-gen graphics and sound. Needless to say I am very stoaked. I only wish they’d release the game sooner than the fall. A summer release would’ve been nice.
Peace.
Comment by theonefin — May 16, 2007 @ 2:05 pm
What would the game be like? The show has so many unfinished storylines and unanswered questions, so how would you beat the game? Unless you don’t play as main characters, and don’t directly follow the show’s story. That would likely be lame. FPS? RPG? Free Roaming would be cool. Imagine confronting the Others in the middle of the jungle at night! Maybe some raft, sailboat, and submarine missions. Imagine beating people sensless with Eko’s Jesus stick! Hopefully you wouldn’t have to push the button every 108 minutes! Maybe play as Locke and hunt boars with knives! If they recreated the island in the game and let the player free roam, we could explore the island in a first person point of view, and fully explore the hatches unlike they do on the show. If the game is like this, it would seem more likely to be released after the series is finished.
Comment by thenumbersarebad — May 16, 2007 @ 3:08 pm
from what i believe the game is for all systems…
Comment by erik — May 16, 2007 @ 3:23 pm
it will be interesting to see how they tie in the game with lost, considering we don’t know all about the island yet, maybe we’ll disver what the islands all about from the game before the show ends lo!

A quick search on IGN will show you thats it’s coming out for Wii (woot), PC, PS3, Xbox360, PSP, DS and (possibly) for Cell Phones. I can’t wait to play it on my Wii! Even if it sucks.

Comment by Smirnoff — May 16, 2007 @ 4:21 pm
another is something that is supposed to help Lost fans pass the time (?)
I suppose that is because the first episode of season 4 will not be until january or february 2008 because there only be 16 episode and they will be play whithout intermission and in a row. So it will be like season 3 but whithout the mini-season of 7 episode. And then don’t want that lost fans kill themself of being tired of waiting
Comment by Jimmy — May 16, 2007 @ 5:43 pm
Apparently the game isn’t canon, so who cares? Interested in seeing whats on that other disc tho…
