Lost 3.20 Preview Clips!
Due to the lack of an HDTV source this week, I’m putting the preview clips up in Divx. and they are dillies! Beware… spoilers await after you click the magic green link.
In the first clip, John confronts Ben over the illusive Jacob, who may or may not be a stick, and in the process gives a nod to a popular fan theory. Pay very careful attention to how Ben reacts to the insinuation that Alpert might know who Jacob is.
Up next, Kate defends telling Jack about Naomi only to find out she is an idiot.

Response Clip 1: the man behind the curtain as being Ben? Interesting. In the trailer for 3.20 Ben speaks to John about how he is willing to show him somethign he could never imagine, followed by asking him if he was ready. Would this discussion with Ben and John happen before or after that scene?
Response Clip 2: Kate has obviously told Jack and Juliette what has been going on and now they have gone on some sort of adventure. In the clip for 3.20 we also see Jack state “I think we have some catching up to do.” He says this after what appears to me to be upon his return with Juliette on their adventure. What did they do. Perhaps they got something? We will only have to wait like 9 hours to find out now i suppose

I think there throwing it in our face about Jacob being imaginary. So if he is made up, there is a twist in there. I like how Locke calls him out on it immediately then makes fun of his people for blindly believing in him….great stuff. They need Locke as a leader.

I agree expect a twist in the last shot…..LOST

(Warning-My posts is all a Prisoner reference, if you haven’t seen it, it won’t make too much sense).
Do we really get to find out who #1 is?
I always thought Jack was #6, but I guess it is Locke.
I imagine for a twist we are are suppose to think that Ben is #2 and #1? What would be too much is if Jacob looks like Jack or Locke. I imagine Jacob to either be a Computer or not real.

Spoiler?
The Jacob Reveal (The Man Behind The Curtain):
The Others set up camp near living quarters called “the old place” which consists of a few small bungalow-type structures with a larger one just off to the side in a heavily wooded section. We can also make out other cracked pillars similiar to the one that Anthony Cooper was strapped to previously.
John Locke makes his way to the new encampment with his sacrifice slung over his shoulder. The Others take notice as he comes sauntering in and drops the tarp-covered body on the ground at Ben’s feet. Ben looks surprised but Alpert seems pleased that John has returned. John Locke calls Ben on his promise and Ben takes him to the larger bungalow to meet “Him” who will explain all.
John enters a room where Jacob is. Jacob is situated near the back of the room in the darkness, but we can make out what appears to be a male silhouette. A light shines on John and the voice of Jacob tells him to close the door behind him. We see Ben standing in the doorway and he looks upset as the door slowly closes in front of him.
We learn in flashbacks near the end of the episode that Richard Alpert lives up to his namesake as he is revealed to be the mysterious Jacob who has even Ben fooled.
The Game Changer (Through The Looking Glass)
Set-up: We see various Jack flashbacks in Australia as he’s collecting his fathers body for transport back to the U.S. Nothing special, with the exception that he requests to look at the hospital records and notices his fathers death was not alcohol related.
Key forward to the last flashback as Jack remembers something right after the plane crash but before he woke up in the jungle. We see from Jack’s viewpoint that he’s in some sort of large complex surrounded by a dozen or so people who are not the Others we’ve come to know (they’re wearing tan DHARMA jumpsuits with the familiar logo which has an eye in the center).
He’s then rolled on a medical stretcher thru a long corridor flanked on each side by two females (blond, brunette) and one male (older, mid-forties and stern looking). He’s taken outside from what appears to be another hidden station (rabbit hole) that’s never been discovered or mapped, and we can see Vincent lying on the ground and he appears to be knocked out as they pass him by. Jack’s eyes are barely open and he seems to be in pain from his injury, but he’s able to hazily watch at the three mysterious people lift him off the stretcher and place him on the ground. They inject him in the neck and he falls asleep. The next part we see a close-up of Jack’s eye as he wakes up just as he did in the pilot.
Meanwhile other events are unfolding realtime. Something is flying above the island surveying various areas that we’re familiar with. At first we’re led to believe it’s a rescue from Naomi’s ship but it’s not. From an aerial viewpoint above we can see an outline of the EYE station opening below and the same people who took Jack are standing outside, looking up as if they’re waiting.

It seems that Jeff Jenson saved one juicy Darlton remark from yesterday’s interview for his EW column this morning:
”Locke will hear two words tonight,” says Lindelof. ”Those words, and the fact that he hears them, will change his course on the island forever.”
My prediction is that those two words will be, “You’re Jacob.”

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ben and Alpert pull another con tonight. They will take Locke to the spooky house where Alphert is there and confesses to being Jacob. But this is a lie - Jacob is still actually a myth, but for the purpose of manipulating Locke into doing something, Ben needs him to believe Jacob is real.
Comment by Joe — May 9, 2007 @ 9:38 am
The Danceman, in his alleged spoiler, states, “Richard Alpert lives up to his namesake”…please enlighten me? Probably an anagram, but what is it?

Basically Locke tells Ben that he doesn’t believe there is a “Jacob”. He says that Ben is the man behind the curtain and that the others are fools for blindly believing him for all these years that there is a mysterious “Jacob” running everything. Ben rebuts this by saying I was born here and that is why Jacob only speaks to him.
Rather ironic isn’t it, that John a “man of Faith” is questioning the Faith of the Others
Comment by Pure Evil — May 9, 2007 @ 10:03 am
That’s my backup prediction. If Jacob is not Locke, he is Ben’s “Bad Twin.”
Comment by gusteaux — May 9, 2007 @ 10:04 am

Long story short, Locke says he’ll ask Richard who Jacob is.Ben says Richard doesn’t know who Jacob is.

i think that even if jacob turns out to be a stick or a voice inside bens head, it will turn out that jacob is indeed real, as a spirit communicating through ben or a ghost or whatever hoodoo the writers like, but i do think that jason will in fact prove to be real…and id be dissapointed if it was that richard guy.
also, the glowing woman picture, im thinking, could be “Jacob” manifesting as/possessing a woman…bens mother perhaps, or perhaps simply not lol.
finally: if he isnt actually jacob (and…he may well be) then Smokey could perhaps be an anti-jacob? he also can take human form, and we were told that we’ll have seen him recently and not known it.
if jacob is a computer, an alien, a giant lizard or CRAB-PEOPLE, then that will be lame…
Comment by mw — May 9, 2007 @ 11:19 am

And for the eager tail section folk, perhaps this has been discussed before, but what are your thoughts on jack waking up in the jungle as opposed to his colleagues? Comment by Josh — May 9, 2007 @ 1:15 pm
I actually think now that some of the cloning theory is correct, and that Jacob is somewhat Ben’s original, and Ben is the clone of Jacob, which 1) would explain as to why they haven’t “casted” Jacob, because Jacob isn’t another actor but just the same person… and 2) Why Ben would be the only one to know… Because if everyone saw Jacob, they might think it’s Ben. I don’t know… but I call the shots on that one for my theory for tonight.
Or Vincent the Dog is Jacob… how freakin awesome would that be?
Comment by Josh — May 9, 2007 @ 1:19 pm
Josh, I believe TPTB have consistently ruled out cloning…but “Bad Twin” is still in play.
Comment by gusteaux — May 9, 2007 @ 1:22 pm
I think that, along the lines of someone else’s theory, that Jack is indeed Jacob,..but he had come up with an idea to pretend he was a lostie, he had got a serum that blanked his memory, and, when he got captured in season 3 he was either cured by an antidote or told he was leader, and he remembered. I doubt Jack is a castaway.

“You’re the man behind the curtain. The Wizard of Oz!” I find that rather hilarious on the fact that Ben used a character from the Wizard of Oz as an alias. Henry Gale - hot air balloon. Anyone remembers well, Dorothy Gale had an Uncle named Henry would did or wanted to ride the world in a hot air balloon (If I’m remembering that correctly). Just wanted to point that out. =)
Comment by Dale — May 9, 2007 @ 1:38 pm
I was thinking maybe Bernard has something to do with the Others, he is cast for the finale, but if he was Jacob and was put on the cast list for this episode, we’d all guess it was him, so they wouldnt list him For the “Man Behind The Curtain”, Also in “Through the Looking Glass” which as we know is the Alice in Wonderland story, Alice is able to go into a world through a mirror, and has to read books through Mirrors, could this title be hinting at where they might be or something along the lines of this, remember Walt talking backwards etc.. what you all think ?
Comment by Alan — May 9, 2007 @ 1:50 pm
Then why would he have 1) a flashback on the plane before it crashed, and 2) how did locke see him on the plane in the finale of Season 1?

Also, “Snake in the Mailbox” - what’s come in the mail lately? Naomi. I don’t trust her. Her response to Sayid was unnecessarily agressive.

in regards to the video, it looks good but the music seems a bit shaky, it could be real if not its a good fake and it would explain why everyone thinks all the losties are dead if they found an almost complete aircraft lying in a trench,if it was fractured in some way there wold be speculation of survivors getting free, but not if its intact, a good vid either way!

it is amazing how we over speculated this episode. It was quite simple in prediction as it went along. Anyone notice the Portland sign as Ben’s parents came out of the forest? If they were near Portland but not on the island, then why did she ‘die’.
Seems ole Roger Workman was just that a beer drinking janitor who was Ben’s Dad.
Anyone get a glimpse of the can Ben let loose? Was it that powerful? Or were there mulitple cans?
Yes, Locke is getting in the way of Ben, wanna bet Locke gets healed before the finale?

BTW did anyone else think Richard didn’t age at all form the point where young Ben met him for the first time in the jungle, to when grown-up Ben gassed Dharma, and even to current island time - they went to a lot of effort to show Ben’s dad age over the course of his growing up, but not Richard…
Perhaps the natives/hostiles don’t age so much?
Comment by OMG! — May 9, 2007 @ 8:20 pm
Jacob better HELP Locke!
And Jacob is invisible?! that is so annoying! and it makes me wonder if we should believe everything they say in the podcasts. everyone acts like whatever Cuse and Lindelof say is 100% true. but the way the show is going maybe they only debunked rumors as a foiler! maybe when you die on the island you don’t stay dead. In Locke’s case i hope not. And i was content not liking Jack and juliet, but dammit they tricked us again, and that must be why Danielle was getting the dynamite, to help Jack?!
So what was up with RICHARD!? Is he superior to Ben if he was there first? Shouldn’t he look older? Do the Other’s besides Ben still admire Locke? Can they even possibly give us a reasonable explaination of Jacob? Is he a clear version of Smokie? My head is going to explode just wrapping my brain around this episode and the series as a whole!
Comment by thenumbersarebad — May 9, 2007 @ 8:20 pm

I am REALLY NOT going to get into some invisable monster horror storyline…..That line of thinking is just plain stupid.
At this point kinda makes you wonder where is the Sherrif and her Posse?
Richard is ALOT older than Ben but yet looks younger…mmmmmm and yet this episode presumes that Richard was Ben’s mentor….
I did not think this was agame changer as it was a small peak into Ben’s past. We really learned VERY little of ‘natives’ and the initiatives real purpose
Comment by thirdflr — May 9, 2007 @ 8:28 pm

”Locke will hear two words tonight,” says Lindelof. ”Those words, and the fact that he hears them, will change his course on the island forever.”
Hmmm that means he lives
I was almost in tears when locke got shot but then i remembered that quote. I think jacob is an entity unto itself, maybe maifesting through ben, or locke at the point where he “heard him” ask for his help. Hes not just some ghost, theres something else to this, i hope, because i let out a little snicker when ben was talking to a chair. and what happened to annie!? and why the hell has richard not aged at all? theres a few more questions that i know wont be answered until next season, which really sucks. Ben must have given the hostiles whatever was in that can, because thats some pretty powerful stuff to be that deadly in the open air? there would have had to be lots of it and it would have to have come from dharma supply same with the masks, so ben really was in charge of the purge.
This was by far the best episode yet. even after reading spoilers and theories all day from you crazy, crazy people, i was still in shock and awe… and rage at the end
Comment by Jess — May 9, 2007 @ 8:32 pm
Locke can’t be dead! It’s so obvious that there he was, shot, in a ditch. But come on, Locke is a CENTRAL and FAVORITE character! Kill anyone but him, Kate, Jack, and Sawyer.
So, Jacob. Wow. “Help me.” Help him what? Is he a ghost? That whole scene freaked me out SO BAD. Here I am alone, hubby in Iraq, kids asleep. And I am so into it that I can’t break away even if I’m scared to death. Now, that’s good!
Anyone have any ideas now?
Comment by Susan — May 9, 2007 @ 8:41 pm
OK, will this be some sort of time loop - future Locke in the chair calling out to present Locke in the shack? And how did it come that Ben was packin’ heat - and Locke wasn’t on his guard (outside of that’s what it says in the script)? And is there any primary or secondary character who doesn’t have dregs for fathers?
Yeesh!
Comment by Apollobar — May 9, 2007 @ 8:44 pm
I interpret the quote in 2 possible ways. First, like you said, perhaps Locke will come back alive and his course will remain on the island but it’s changed now.
Second, his death is the way his course in the island changes.
Ooooh, maybe now that he’s dead (if he is), maybe he’s going to be a ghost to everyone. Leading them to strange places. Or having a drink with Jacob.
Oh who knows at this point.
Comment by Susan — May 9, 2007 @ 8:48 pm

Comment by Wade — May 10, 2007 @ 11:47 am
WHY??? why… why WHY!!!??? Why is Jacob invisible? Why did Ben shoot/possibly kill Locke? Why does everyone still trust Jack?
Ok one observation, you know how you encircle your home with poison to keep the termites away. Like a barrier to protect? Maybe the stuff on the ground outside Jacob’s shack was there as a barrier and not smokey’s trail. Maybe it was to keep Smokey(or something else) away??
