I think, after having watched this great episode, that Jacob doesn’t quite exist yet. I think the Others are hoping that Locke is Jacob, and are initiating/testing him to become Jacob.
What if heaven was a real place, but it was another plane of existence (not a white robe and harps type place)? What if the island is a gateway (or nexus to quote Merlboroman) to this other dimension? What if it exists as a sort of security station (metaphorical angels like Ms. Hawking make sure of the order of things)? Ancient guardians were purged by DHARMA (to exploit the island’s properties), and DHARMA was purged by rogue work men with a conscience. As soon as I started to believe that they were all dead I thought of this. It’s not purgatory, but the way into a higher plane of existence that is sometimes mistakenly breached. In the finale we will see the transferrance of the remaining souls into the metaphorical heaven. Here they will join those who we’ve followed that have already passed through. In this vane the island would metaphorically be god…
Was it just me, or does this episode pretty much solidify Sawyer’s death in the finale? Now that he has finally found his “redemption”, it seems there is nothing left for him but an inevitable and unfortunate death.
Well, it seems clear to me now that the Others are guarding against a full-scale invasion from a group off the island, and that Jack and Juliette know about it. They’re stealing the women from the losties’ camp in case they win.
The brig rocked…it was awesome…The scene showing Locke carrying the body of Cooper, following the trail Ben mentioned to reunite with the others, was totally bad-ass!!!
I also hope Sawyer won’t die, but it does seem that they are setting the stage for it. But some rumors/spoilers seem to say that Sayeed and Sawyer will be working together…so …who knows.
I hope Juliet gets it though, I hate her coy, know-it-all smirk…..
im almost speechless…….what the hell IS IT that “we should tell her” ?
that was so cruel. in my mind i saw the whole beach camp holding a gun to jacks head and screaming “WHAT IS IT”! it could be that julie has told jack about the plan i guess.
cap, i know what you mean, with sawyer explaining how he got there and all, but if thats true then why would they have needed juilliette?
i guess we just have to wait till next week, DOH.
Every espisode that rocked this season was Locke centric. This man owns the show, I dont know about u guys, but for me its always a treat when locke and ben talk… those two actors play off eachother perfectly. I loved when Sawyer asked Locke if he was really a cripple… Its like Sawyer see’s Locke through our eyes now, he see’s that Locke is special. I think Sawyer is going to side with Locke, cause he sure as hell isnt going to side with Jack.
The “it” is probably the fact that after the sky went purple from Desmond turning the failsafe key, the Others weren’t able to communicate with the outside world anymore or find the island again, if Locke hadn’t blown up the sub that is.
It was a great episode! Can someone refresh my memory. Where did Naomi say that 815 was found?
Just because someone dies by the end of the season, doesn’t mean they will stay dead. Remember, things are different on the island. It’s possible for them to kill Locke, Sawyer, Jack, or anyone else by the end of this season, and bring them back next. Remember patchy? They could also be playing us… and still kill someone, but someone far less important. Bernard, Rose, Danielle, or even Naomi.
I expect we’ll see Sun die, or maybe even Kate. Why Kate? “We should tell her” probably meant that she is pregnant.
They will not kill Sawyer. Sawyer is the contrast with whiny bitch Jack. No one can kill Sawyer. He will just remove the bullet from his head with his bare hands, then use it to pound Jack to smithereens.
- We’ll find out that “Ben Linus”, along with Richard Alpert and Jacob, were once workers for DHARMA who also doubled as human test subjects for various DHARMA projects on the island.
- We’ll see the overthrow of DHARMA scientists by the workers led by Jacob, who was the instigator of the revolution and the saviour of Ben. Unfortunately, Jacob was unable to save Ben’s family which we’ll see.
- We’ll come to understand that the mysterious (this name is a spoiler until it is told to us in an ep) wasn’t the only traveler on the expedition flight to the island (hint: a male was with her who’ll wash ashore later), but is in fact a spy of the DHARMA Initiative who’s come to investigate exactly what happened on the island.
- The triggers for her visit were the meltdown of the Swan Station and the loss of contact with the Flame Station. A series of “secure” codes had to be input from the Flame to give DHARMA the green light that everything was fine, and to continue the food drops the same way the numbers had to be input in the Swan. The Others (hostiles) were successful keeping up appearances with Mikhail’s help until Locke destroyed it.
- Cerberus, aka “The Smoke Monster” was a DHARMA experiment in both nanotechnology and neural networking which was used to guard the perimeter of various stations intuitively, but was damaged during the purge of DHARMA controllers, It has since gone rogue and become self aware.
- The “Others” as we’ve come to know and love (or hate) are truly the good guys who gained their own freedom and were actively attempting to reverse the effects of experiments performed on them by DHARMA, and the effects of the island on unprotected humans until Flight 815 interrupted them.
- Ben confides in Locke that they were basically slaves to DHARMA and they must keep up the ruse that DHARMA is still in control or they will all die from a common enemy. Jacob is the head “inmate” who orchestrated the revolution, and who remains hidden in plain sight but is still the one they must answer to.
- We find out that Penelope Widmore has been a member of DHARMA all along, and the station in Antarctica is run by DHARMA. Desmond has a vision of Penelope which is frightening and reveals new, truthful memories about how they really met at the monastery.
- Ben dies in the finale along with a few Others, as does Kate and Sayid. Sawyer and most of the Losties blame Jack and Juliet for Kate and Sayid’s deaths due to his plan. Jack is forced to go with the surviving Others, and we see Tom by his side as he protects his new leader. From the sky we see images of the island as if from the viewpoint of a coming aircraft. It seems DHARMA has sent someone (or something) to the island and it’s not nice.
I think Jack and Juliet have made a plan together and all along Jack knew that Ben would be coming to get Sun and Kate. They would eventually tell everyone and this is the huge battle between the Losties and the others everyone has been talking about. When the others come to get Sun and Kate the Losties would battle the others. I think its going to be Sawyer agaisnt Jack because alot of people dont trust Juliet.
I also think Danielle is going to blow up an other because she took dinamite and I think its going to Ben. He needs to go to make room for Jacob the new leader of the others.
You’d think if the Others / DHARMA / whoever was trying to cover up the crash of 815, they would have found something a more reasonable distance from the original flight path than something that far out. e.g. Fiji.
Did you notice how Locke told Sawyer that the others were going to raid the beach and take “them” (meaning the pregnant women). I’ll bet Kate is pregs too!
Could this be the lost city of atlantis? It might only look like the plane is 4 miles underwater to the outside world. Its a little odd that the main mode of transportation the Others have to get on and off the island is a submarine. Naomi said there was only water on the map no island in that area. There are unexplained ancient ruins…
This was either the best or second best episode this season. The other, as if you had to ask, being man from Tallahasse. Only problem I had with it was the hell talk. It’s just a lame red herring to get all of the people who thought they were so clever when they thought it was purgatory, which everyone and their retard brother thought a few years ago. Anyway, and its not like anyone cares, it’s like this: you wouldn’t need to eat in hell, all of those characters wouldn’t stay dead, submarine out of hell? and countless other reasons that the show would collapse in on itself due to contradictions. And while I know that this hell thing can’t be the case I just think that it slightly diminished one of the best episodes all year. Although It would make sense that you couldn’t teleport living people to the island and that the only reason Locke was able to summon Cooper was because Cooper was dead and he pulled his body and soul out of the ether. Or Cooper was lying about being dead.

I think the IT that Juliet wanted to tell Kate is that Kate is PREGNANT! That is what she is there for. Jack would certainly loose interest in Kate if she has Sawyer’s baby.

COULD THEY BE DEAD??
Think about it,
Desmond survived a boating accident
They did crash
Naomi Crashed
Juliette was given a spiked drink. maybe she never woke up…
underrated scene of the episode -Rousseau getting the dynamite. An other is supposed to explose before the season’s up. Will ben survive the attack on the camp only to have Rousseau finally gain vengence for the abduction of her daughter?
I think what Juliet wanted to tell Kate was that Ben and the others were coming back and she and Jack were going to sabotage them. That cool little scene with Rousseau in The Black Rock makes me believe she’ll have something to do with it too…
the third season of lost so far has been the best yet, i think lost lost its touch a bit in sesaon 2 but has toatally made up fot it in season three, i think the odd thing is the biggest revelations have come when we have least expected it like the man from tallahssee enter 77 and the brig, i wonder if the producers deliberately did that to catch us of guard, either way lost this year has been the best yet and has more then made up for the lul in season 2!
Lost is not a simple one trick pony whos only mission is to be unpredictable. It goes without saying that certain elements of the brig were predictable, but the devil is in the details. I’m sick of people complaining that the show never doses out answers, or has resolution. When we do have resolution to a long stading issue, people still complain! Lost would not be engaging if it dolled out answers immediatly after posing them like a certain “Heroes” show. Nor would we have web sites like this, where people can bounce ideas of each other.
I don’t think anyone was reborn. I think Ethan and Goodwin are really dead. I don’t think Mikhail was really dead, which means he wasn’t really reborn.
I’m not sure if Locke is becoming Jacob, or if he’s just being duped. I do think that Locke is key to unlocking the mysteries of the island.
I think Locke will be th hero in the end up.
i think the producers are making jack unlikeable for a reason, season finale anyone, jack makes a decsion that makes us all love him again.
Sun will not die, Charlie was most def not die.
Is Penny playing against Des, maybe.
Also, the birg was amazing, yeah we knew the whole saywer theroy a while back, James Ford didn’t and it was a joy to watch him find out, Sawyer and locks’s acting were truly breathtaking, well done.
I was fading out of Lost for a while. But the past weeks and especially that last episode have me hooked again.
Next week is going to be cool, but the week AFTER I think will be most promising. This is the outline for the episode AFTER next week’s:
Greatest hits - Episode 68
While Jack devises a plan to do away with “The Others” once and for all, Sayid uncovers a flaw in “The Others’” system that could lead to everyone’s rescue. But it requires Charlie to take on a dangerous task that may make Desmond’s premonition come true.
Personally I think Charlie’s gonna be toast before the season’s end. Also, if anyone has a clue to why the producers are making Jack such a punk-ass then please share them.
I think Jack will be killed off in the finale. mr Fox has probably gotten all hollywood and too good for a show will slipping ratings. but good riddance. jack has become stale and boring. the episode about his tattoos was not interesting to me. i never really cared why he had tattoos any more than why Sayid’s fingernails are long. (if there is a flashback telling why his nails are long i will crap my pants) Anyway, Jacks past seemed mostly answered for, besides why his dad’s coffin was empty and how he ended up getting it on the plane. with 2 hours of finale, those could easily be answered and then Jack is done. Juliet could take over as the new town doctor.

when Nikki and Paulo were buried alive, a group of 815ers watched as Sawyer dumped the diamonds out. If that episode taught us anything, it was that background characters are people too, they can have a bad side or act greedy and unpredictable. that makes me wonder why none of the onlookers have dug up the millions of dollars worth of diamonds.

The Brig was the most predictable episode of Lost to date.
I think we’d all guessed Locke’s Dad was the real Sawyer at least a year ago.
It was obvious Locke was lying about Ben, obvious it was going to be Cooper instead, and obvious that ‘James’ was going to kill him.
As a result I found it really dull, and am amazed by the good votes it’s getting.

i think the producers are making jack unlikeable for a reason, season finale anyone, jack makes a decsion that makes us all love him again.

Also there are other great moments…
– Sawyer holding a knife to Locke’s throat and asking him where he’s taking him
–the whole segment with Sawyer and Locke’s father…that was powerful!!!
–when Desmond tells Penny that he doesn’t love her…he is such a good actor…you could feel his pain
–when the woman Sawyer conned visits him in prison and tells him he has a daughter
–When Paolo and Nikki are buried alive
–When Mr. Eko is killed
–When Ana Lucia is killed by Michael…that made me so mad!!!!
–when Juilet’s ex husband gets hit by a bus just like she wished him to be
