Damon and Carlton Speak Again! With Banjo!
Damon and Carlton are busy guys this morning! They have made yet another radio appearance, this time on Drew and Mike! Lot’s of nice information on this as well, plus those of you who wanted to see Carlton and Damon on the hot seat, here is your chance! Player link up here and some highlights below for spoiler purposes. One exciting bit of discussion, which is not a spoiler, is that LOST might be moved to a new timeslot next year! Yay! Difficulty playing? Try visiting: http://www.wrif.com/dm/
These mysteries will be resolved by the end of the season:
- What was up with the guys in the arctic.
- Walt’s ability to rejuvenate animals.
- The "magic box" idea
Some of the other highlights were:
- The island is very selective about who it heals based on the nature of the person.
- Carlton has a new nickname "Wheelbarrow Testicles." Personally, I think that should be the title of his Banjo solo ala Eddie Van Halen’s "Eruption"
- Patchy’s resurrection will be explained within the next couple of weeks.
- The smoke monster will not be explained until the end of the series.
- The long term story is made up of milestones, but they vary the arrival at those points by watching how the character development plays out.
- Locke’s descent into a bumbling fool will be redeemed tonight.
- LOST will VERY LIKELY change its timeslot next year!

YES!!!! BOW TO LOCKE!!!!!
WATCH PEOPLE IN THE END HE’LL BE THE HERO! THE SUB STILL EXISTS!!!!

Walt can rejuvenate animals? What? He made a bird crash into the window, but that’s about it.

Didn’t he also revive the frog that Sawyer killed?

I don’t think the hosts were as thick as they were kinda letting on. I think they were asking the questions, such as “Why does it take so long to get an answer…” because they know a lot of audience members have such little patience to let the story tell itself. Personally I like the mystery, I like having to engage my brain a little bit when watching, admittedly, a tv soap opera.

DUDE!!!
This was awesome.
Two of my favorite duos - Drew & Mike and Damon & Carlton - in one place!
(I’m originally from Detroit and used to listen to Drew and Mike on WRIF in the mornings!)
Thanks for posting this, Doc!

you think Michael or Walt will appear before the end of this season? Michael was a traitor by the last season but i still like him. Imagine though, if he came back his flashback episodes would probably be about what he did after he left! I think that would be really awesome.

Nick they said he WILL appear by the end of the season. No question about it.

I always wondered why Locke was all wet after blowing up the submarine. If he was going to blow it up, all he would have to is place the bomb and leave. No need for getting wet.
If he moved the sub, he would have had to get in the water and plant the c4 near the dock. Awesome! Nice Tease by Cuselof.

The sub is a prop, and NOT the way one gets to the island.

This is a random thought: The others are using the collective psychic abilities(much like those of Walts) of the children they have captured from the plane. These abilities manifest only in certain children, and they are using them to tame the black smoke. The black smoke is a distortion in the “false time” of the island, and it is composed of all the people who have died there…..mabey.

Great stuff, Doc Arzt — keep it coming!

Thanks DocArnst,
did you mean Michael or Walt. I read some where that Harold Perrineau turned down the oppurtunity, but i could be mistaken. Doesnt show up on IMDB that either of them are in the finale. Probably still keeping it a secret. Also says Charlie isnt appearing in the finale, thats probably a secret too. honestly it would be more of a surprise if Charlie lived now instead of going with what everyone thinks and expects.

Ok folks, let’s talk about the Smoke Monster!
It won’t be explained until the end of the SERIES? Aww man, come on! Well, I do like a good mystery to ponder over, but still. The monster is what originally got me interested in the show. That first episode, where you realize that the Island is not right, got me hooked, and it was that scene at night where the trees started going down, and a strange bio/mechanical roar could be heard.
The explanation they have for the smoke monster could either make or break the shown when you look back on the entire series. A good explanation will feel good, it will feel good to know all our time of speculating was worth it. If it ends up stupid, well, it could ruin the show for me when I think of it as a whole.
I hope in season 4 they at least give us an ample amount of hints as to what it might be, and/or what its purpose is. I don’t think they’re in purgatory, or hell. I don’t believe they are dead(well, except Ethan, Libby, Paulo…). I do lean towards the idea that the monster IS judging people, but I also believe it is protecting something like the French lady said. Is it Cerberus? How can you explain a floating entity of black smoke, that is codenamed Cerberus, and is both a judge of people and guardian to the island? Is that the only monster? Eko got his ass whooped by some black smoke, but Locke has some a bright light(and smokey… smokey took him at the end of the first season… that was no bright light).
I need to stop rambling. This is also the one mystery that I need to know! Healing Powers, Time Travel, all that stuff has some science/magic behind it… but sentient black smoke? WTF!?!

How far could Michael and Walt have gone? Sawyer said a boat like that wasn’t made for the open ocean. Desmond couldn’t sail away from the island. The island seems to attract boats and planes, why didn’t it bring back Mike and Walt yet? I know Ben gave Michael some coordinates, where might these have really taken them?

OK Matt B, I’ll bite. Lets talk about Smokey. A very protective, prescient force that does not like people walking around where it lives, doesn’t mind giving them visions, can kill and is warded off by the others’ sound barrier. As Juliet says, We don’t know what it is but it doesn’t like our fence. The tantalizing reference to Cerberus on the door map may or may not be referring to Smokey. We see it as monstrous but that could be just our perspective as we humans tend to be inconsiderate about other critters’ turf as witnessed in the Aliens movies. We walk in, step all over the place, get messed up, proclaim the offended critter a monster, try to destroy it and wonder why it’s so pissed off.
One of the things I like the most about Lost is the use of certain very likeable, well-intentioned but hopeless humans who have a b bumbling gift for mayhem. Sayid, Kate, Sawyer, Eko, Ana Lucia I am talking about you. It just seems that no matter how hard they try to do the right thing, somehow some evil force beyond their control bubbles up inside them and unintended bad stuff happens. Sort of like Smokey. Seems our mysterious friend is a bit of a moralist.
So I figure this. Throw in some energy forces beyond our understanding as well as the 108 min. purification ritual the island needs to undergo and I’m guessing that Smokey represents the 108 defilements that need to be transcended so Dharma can truly manifest. Smokey does it a lot faster than all those years in the ashram. A metaphysical yet very tangible purifier who limits the capacity for evil on the island by getting rid of those who cannot rid themselves. Sayid, Sawyer and Kate need to watch their backs.
