Late Spoiler Updates
This might be old news to some of you, but just in case here is the rundown on the latest ABCMedianet Releases as well as the official LOST podcast that you can hear right now at LOST.abc.com.
First ABCMedianet:
"Greatest Hits" - While Jack devises a plan to do away with "The Others" once and for all, Sayid uncovers a flaw in "The Others’" system that could lead to everyone’s rescue. But it requires Charlie to take on a dangerous task that may make Desmond’s premonition come true, on " LOST," WEDNESDAY, MAY 16 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
" LOST" stars Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Michael Emerson as Ben, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie and Terry O’Quinn as Locke.
Guest starring are Tania Raymonde as Alex, Blake Bashoff as Karl, Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert, Mira Furlan as Rousseau, Brian Goodman as Pryce, Marsha Thomason as Naomi, Neil Hopkins as Liam, Joshua Hancock as Roderick, John Henry Canavan as Simon Pace, Jeremy Shada as young Charlie, Zack Shada as young Liam, L. Scott Caldwell as Rose, Sam Anderson as Bernard, Andrea Gabriel as Nadia, Lana Parrilla as Greta and Tracy Middendorf as Bonnie.
Interesting to note that Karl is back since he was pretty convinced the others would kill him once he returned to their village, should be interesting to see which side of the fence he ends up on. It is also extremely interesting that Nadia is making yet another character crossing. Assuming she is in Charlie’s flashback, that puts her up there with Hurley and Randy for most crossovers. (Oh, and Libby too.)
There were plenty of interesting ideas put out there in the podcast. Damon and Carlton drew a parallel between Walt’s abilities and Locke, we’re going to find out there is more to "The Others" breeding efforts than just the joys of parenting, there are two factions of "The Others", and the parachutist is going to reveal more about her mission in "The Brig". Definitely worth it to check out the podcast!

Items from the podcast that caught my attention:
Borderlands and Supernatural…
The others are interested in children with special abilities. Walt’s capture is related to the attempt to bring babies to term on the island.
**Speculation alert**
Mmmmm, so a baby brought from conception to term on the island may infuse the baby with the islands abilities? Doc Jensen is looking more brilliant everyday.
**end speculation**
Two factions of the others.
And Damon is familiar with the comic “The Watchmen.”
Comment by TabulaRasa — April 30, 2007 @ 9:29 pm
Most interesting is that Carlton seemingly *isn’t* familiar with Watchmen. It was almost as if he’d never seen the name Ozymandias before in his life.
Q: When you spend so much time with a bunch of genre-fan writers and the other exec. producer and the creator are all huge fans, and the fan community of your show has thrown around theories on what the show does and doesn’t draw on from Watchmen AND a movie based on it is in pre-production…how do you not read it?
A: You sink most of your free time on figuring out the best ways to beat a tired joke about banjo-playing into the floor for months on end, apparently. ;P
(Only joking, Carlton…but damn it, read it. You’re missing out!)
Comment by Richard Lennox — April 30, 2007 @ 11:40 pm
What’s more surprising is that neither Damon nor Carlton has read Shelley’s ‘Ozymandias’, one of the most famous poems in the English canon. Indeed, it sounded to me as though Carlton had never heard Shelley’s name in his life.
Mind you, these are the guys who gave us a show which contains not one but two references to England being an island (it isn’t), who INSIST on making their characters say ‘lay’ when they mean ‘lie’, and who named the least empirically-inclined of their central characters after the founder of all philosophical empiricis
Comment by Pooter — May 1, 2007 @ 12:40 am
ok, poote, now explain me why England isn’t a fuckin’ island
Comment by Francis — May 1, 2007 @ 1:10 am
Francis: because England is connected to Wales and Scotland by land.
And I’m not even British
Comment by invisible dave — May 1, 2007 @ 1:16 am
i’m english and england is not an island but britain is
Comment by shaun — May 1, 2007 @ 2:21 am
yeah seems pretty obvious why England isn’t an island
Comment by nickk — May 1, 2007 @ 3:22 am
you gotta remember fellas, we Yanks are a little confused about that whole thing. To most of us, “England”, “Britain”, and “The UK” mean the same thing, i.e. “That place where London is.”
Comment by jay — May 1, 2007 @ 4:51 am
Correction … UK is two islands (England, Wales, Scotland + Nortern Ireland)
Comment by gardo — May 1, 2007 @ 5:11 am
Pooter: I think the lay-lie thing could simply be character realism. A lot of authors intentionally use incorrect grammar with characters simply because people in real life do too. That could be the whole England is an island thing too. Specifically, though, in Flashes Before Your Eyes, Charlie never directly says England = island. He says “We are on an island, mate. This is England,” which is almost like saying “We are on an continent, mate. This is Canada.” I don’t recall the other reference to England being an island, though.

How is Nadia the most cross overs?
She appeared in Lockes flashback….thats it. Christian Shepherd has had the most cross overs.
Comment by Muscle_Bob_Buff_Pants — May 1, 2007 @ 6:08 am
which locke flashback was nadia in, and what was she doing?
Comment by postulio — May 1, 2007 @ 6:54 am
Don’t Fuck with NY
Comment by cekma — May 1, 2007 @ 6:55 am
Nadia was buying a house and Locke was the home inspector. I think it was Lock Down.
Comment by SeenMyLuggage? — May 1, 2007 @ 7:12 am
Hmmn. We (Great Britain) may have ruled half of the world but to be fair we did that because we had cannons and guns and the people we conquered had spears and yams.

Cut him a break, I don’t think I’ve ever attempted to say Ozymandias out loud before.
Comment by Greg — May 1, 2007 @ 8:23 am
Wasn’t it the other way…Locke buying and Nadia the realtor
Comment by roy — May 1, 2007 @ 8:23 am
Nadia = buyer
Locke = home inspector.
Comment by H20 — May 1, 2007 @ 8:58 am
yep, a home inspector with his “Welcome Home” business. Locke the home inspector, hunter, underwater demolitions expert, and all around ????

My friend couldnt have put it any better or blunter….
“All ill say is that if Ben does die, Jacob better impress the sh*t of us!”
Comment by Jimyy — May 1, 2007 @ 10:24 am
Big up the brits! Charlie must die though. Sorry!
Comment by WILLOW — May 1, 2007 @ 11:20 am
Sorry to be pedantic, but Northern Ireland isn’t an island.
And while I’m here, am I alone in wondering if the writers - and Lostaways - are aware of the fact that December 25th is approaching (in terms of how long it’s been since the Oceanic 815 crash)?
Juliet’s dictaphone message to Ben in D.O.C. mentions it being a Saturday. The nearest Saturday to the ‘90 days’ she said Sun had been on the island would be December 18th 2004 (actaully 87 days).
Maybe the events in the season finale will happen before Christmas, but I don’t see anyone looking like hanging up stockings or decorating their dwellings on the beach…
Comment by Marcus — May 1, 2007 @ 11:30 am
Shaun…I like Brits in general…don’t ruin that.
Comment by MerlboroMan — May 1, 2007 @ 11:48 am
I’m an American and I can speak and write “English” better than a guy that is English. It must be my “supersized” American penis that makes me so smart.
Comment by Higdon — May 1, 2007 @ 12:00 pm
What if the speculation that Ben is a duplicate is true? Perhaps he is a duplicate of the big dude Jacob. Maybe Ben would die, but Michael Emerson (great actor) would continue having a role (now as undisputed champion of the others) on LOST…
Comment by cap10tripps — May 1, 2007 @ 12:29 pm
Dude, you totally ripped that off from Broken Lizard’s Beer Fest. “Hey maybe you guys can call me Landfill too?”. If you haven’t seen it, see it.
Can someone explain Borderlands to me? I looked it up on Wikipedia and my Nerdcapicitator almost blew up. If you’ve read the books, please enlighten me. If you look up Psuedo-science which I believe was referenced along with Borderlands there is an interesting subsection on Eugenics.
Comment by Higdon — May 1, 2007 @ 1:09 pm
The writers have nixed the ideas of clones playing any part in Lost, haven’t they? I doubt Ben is a duplicate of Jacob.
Comment by Super Mario — May 1, 2007 @ 1:29 pm
One more thing. And I know we’ve got some smart people in here…regarding eugenics, Juliet referenced getting samples from other women among the folks on the beach. There has been a little speculation regarding the timeline as to when Sun got knocked up. The possibility that Jin couldn’t have been there. We’ve also seen the convenient coupling of Sawyer and Kate, individuals the Other’s know quite a bit about. I think it’s possible that the Other’s impregnated Sun, and encouraged the impregnation of Kate (or possibly impregnated her with the same method the would’ve used on Sun using Sawyer as the explanation as to how Kate could become pregnant)to further their eugenics experiments. Eugenics was also referenced on the Old Hanso Foundation site…Juxtapositional Eugenics Development Institute. Lostpedia says “While traditional Eugenics is based on selective breeding to preserve favored traits, Juxtapositional Eugenics would be building better traits in humans through direct genetic manipulation. It can also refer to transgenic organisms (organisms with foriegn DNA integrated into their genome).”. Ummm…that second part about transgenic organisms is interesting. Could the Other’s actually be another species? Attempting to breed with normal humans causing the tragic birth results? Could this be behind the reason that Ben won’t let Juliet take the women off the island? Juliet may not have considered this possibility which would explain her inability to diagnose the problem. The Other’s believe she has a gift, and can solve the problem, even without all the variables. I know we have no proof of the DHARMA/Other’s connection, I’m just using the podcast and copious amounts of marijuana to make the connection.
Comment by Higdon — May 1, 2007 @ 1:37 pm
So is Ben “Mini-Me?”
Comment by Todd Anthony — May 1, 2007 @ 2:15 pm
Doesn’t Christian hold the record for most character flashbacks. Jack, Sawyer, Ana, and Claire.
Comment by Eli — May 1, 2007 @ 7:36 pm
Ok dumbasses. Great Britain is made up of three countries, England, Scotland and Wales. Scotland and Wales are both connected to England by land. The United Kingdom is England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Collectively none of those is a country. Seperately they’re all their own countries. London is the capital city of England. Fact. Its like us saying oh isn’t north and south america one country? I thought it was all, like, that place with that woman and her torch, isnt that the capitol. Catch my drift?

He wouldn’t be a clone in this theory. He’d be a duplicate. Perhaps the “box” would come into play here. A clone would be using DNA to clone something from fetus into life. A duplicate (in this case) would be creating a replica of the subject. There’s just got to be so much more to this “box” (whatever it may be)…
Comment by cap10tripps — May 2, 2007 @ 5:49 am
In this theory he would be more of a Mini-me than a clone…
Comment by cap10tripps — May 2, 2007 @ 5:51 am
To Higdon,
Actually I think copious amounts of marijuana explains most of the Dharma Initiative.
Comment by Odette — May 2, 2007 @ 10:52 pm
Also interesting to note is that if you go by the two days per episode idea, the season finale will fall on the day of the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004. Hmmmm….
So, what are people thinking about this Hell idea? is it Hell? The producers never said it was not hell. But they also said they were not dead. ARgh!!!! I am dying ( pardon the pun) for some answers!!!!
Comment by mark — May 3, 2007 @ 12:29 am
Actually Northern Ireland isn’t an Island, it’s connected to Republic of Ireland by land!
Comment by Eimear — May 8, 2007 @ 10:11 am
Locke; contrary to what the most people believe, does not represent “faith” in the traditional sense of the word. As his name implies he is the esence of empicism in the quest for answers and willing to take chances for the truth, he is also a nostic character intended to understand the universe around him. What ever, the only sure thing is that he is no platonic character waiting for the “heaven” to collapse or the “hell” to burn down. That is the axis of this heroism.
