Lost Finale Spoilers From USAToday
Thanks to Paul for pointing out this very cool snippet from Damon Lindelof on USAToday:
"I’m sorry, because no matter what I do — you’re going to die, Charlie." This proclamation from Desmond earlier this season certainly made it seem as though Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) wouldn’t survive " LOST’s" third season. And, according to executive producer Damon Lindelof, that is a very real possibility. But the show’s resident baddies also better watch their backs. "The finale will culminate in a fairly cool showdown between our survivors and the Others," he says, "and lives will be LOST on both sides."

Maybe it’s just me, but doesn’t this sound exactly like what we were told was going to happen in last year’s finale?
Comment by Neil Pomerleau — April 29, 2007 @ 10:52 am
Not exactly like last year’s, Neil. But it is basically what we’ve been hearing for the past month and a half.

yeah this does sound like what they were telling us last season. a war with the others! jack is gonna start an army! people will die! they’d better deliver this time…

Perhaps in those statements made last season, they were referring more to the overall story than the 2nd season finale.

Yeah they did say that last season, in fact they seem to build a lot of story lines up in lost without ever really fulfilling the promise, kate was gonna have the worst 2 weeks of her life, built up the last two episodes of last years season 3 without again anything radical happening,i hope this time they deliver, but i doubt they will!

I just had an epiphany…
We have been aware for a long time that there is going to be an unexpected main character death that IS NOT charlie, and we have all assumed it would be one of the fantastic four (Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke), but after these latest comments my money is now on Ben dieing!
Think about it, many will say that they wouldnt kill off Ben so soon because theyre is ALOT of answers to come out of him, but he is getting a flashback episode that charts from him as a young boy to him as a man, so I’d say he might just be fair game as one of the OTHER casualties!

Dan,
Ur right it will probably be Ben (sadly). But in my eyes, the show really can’t afford to lose Ben (its main evil character). Michael Emerson is a fantastic actor, probably the best on the show, it would be such a waste to lose him. If he goes the Others lose 80% of their creditability, who’s going to take over if Ben dies? Locke? Its too soon for that. We’ve havent seen Jacob yet, so as a character we dont really know if he could carry that kinda weight. Michael Emerson own’s every scene he’s in, and just steals it. So I hope we dont lose him and his fine acting skills. If locke or Ben go, the show is in serious sh*t. I for one, would be upset. Its just too soon.
Kill these people instead:
Kate, Charlie, Jack, Juliet, Claire, Sun, Rose, Bernard, Alex (but shes hot), Rousseau… yea… thats about it
Keep these People:
Ben, Locke, Sayid, Tom, Hurley, Jin, Desmond annddd…. thats all really.

During the epic struggle between the Losties and the Others Walt will suddenly appear and try to calm everyone down - but will accidentally get albowed in the eye and receive a nasty bruise as he’s knocked to the ground. Michael will swiftly run out of the jungle with an AK47 and a flamethrower and slaughter half of the islanders. Jacob(played by Ricky Gervais) will then emerge from behind his cloaking device with a look of stern disapproval. Michael will then tearfully address him and the bloodied survivors amid the dismembered corpses…”I, I, I’m sorry, but…he’s my SON!!”

i remember reading an article in a newspaper saying that the season 2 finale was gonna be a big war between the others and the losties and that charlie was gonna die, so it was probably postponed and nw its gonna happen!

Ben is going to die for sure - the list of people allegedly wanting to kill him is long: Rousseau, Juliet, ‘Jacob’, Sawyer, etc.
Someone mentioned Ben is a great villain - he is. But a greater villain is coming next episode (in fact, it arrived last week). When Dharma arrives and presumably kills Ben for his betrayal (a former Dharma employee, or infiltrator), they will prove to the 815′rs that Ben was a “good guy”, relatively speaking.
