Lost 3.17 Easter Eggs - Eat Like a Mysterious Parachutist!
Okay so there are probably better ways I could have spent my time this morning, but I just couldn’t leave this alone. Ever since picking out the ‘Beef Stew’ box, I just had to figure out where I could buy some of this yummy stuff. Hey, if its good enough for mysterious parachutists, then it must be good enough for me.
Luckily, it wasn’t too hard to find. Basically, type in ‘Beef Stew MRE’ on Ebay or Amazon, and you’ll find enough identical packets of Beef Stew to keep you alive on the biggest, meanest, most mysterious island out there.

I was in the marines corps fpr 7 years, and that is def an MRE… beef stew ones def suck too.. that one comes with skittles i thjink though.. She might be military, or she bought it on ebay just like you said doc…

Why does the picture of the monk and the time travel lady look super imposed over the background?

Maybe it was done the same way as Penny and Desmond’s pictures?

Well, not sure if it is an easter egg, but the monks make 108 bottles a year. It occurred to me this morning.
And yes, that is an MRE. And no, that one isn’t tasty. The vegetarian ones are actually the best. And those milkshakes are gold. But I wouldn’t suggest eating one unless you are working hard physically, because the shake alone is near a 1000 calories I think.

Nice find on the MRE! It looked like a book at first.
I bet we’ll see the hula doll mounted on the chopper’s windshield in Season 4, that would be hilarious.

I’m a long time listener, first time caller on the Tailsection, but I wanted to get other people’s input on a possible Easter egg:
Did anyone happen to notice that glaring flash of light on Hurley’s head as they were walking through the jungle and he started to talk about The Flash? I just thought that it was a strange place for poor editing, and it happened to be right when the sequence of events leading to Charlie’s death/near miss started.
The flash looked like a near complete circle, and it was in the right top corner of the screen. I went back and froze on that frame- nothing in the circle, just light. Almost made Hurley look angelic.
I was thinking with all the discussion of “loops” in time and the flahses from Smokey, and of course the guy “The Flash” that this might mean something…
Do you guys think this is anything?

Being a former Marine, I can confirm that the Beef Stew MRE is not one of the more desirable selections. I always prefered Jumbolaya.

ugghh the jumbalaya?? haha i cant stand that one!! haha but after eating enough of em, they all start tasting the same anyways haha

Fuck MREs. Not tasty. I’ve eaten enough of them to never want to eat one again unless forced to. Fucking things have like 3000 calories if you eat the whole thing and the Beef Stew one does suck. The vegetarian ones actually arent too bad.

Dude Beef Stew is great! I don’t know how long you guys have been out of the military but there have been some serious advances in the MRE quality since the five fingers of death. When you live in the woods for over 8 weeks MRE trading is a huge deal, and i can tell you beef stew was by far the most coveted. So chow down Doc!
