Tailsection And Fanpop!

Lost News — April 18, 2007 at 6:25 pm by merlborman

Hey folks!  For quite sometime we have had the Myspace area for Tailsection visitors, and we will continue to have that, but I wanted to let you guys know that I have set up a ‘fan spot’ for TheTailsection at www.fanpop.com.  Fanpop is definitely more pro-geek and has really neat social networking/link sharing features that are especially useful for TV fans.

To join the community visit this link: http://www.fanpop.com/spots/thetailsection.com/

In the future I’m going to be using fanpop for that long rumored feature ‘The Purge’.  Essentially, mainstream media articles I find I’m going to post onto thetailsection’s fanpop spot and those headlines are going to be available here via a feed.   I’ve tried my best to avoid any cut and paste unless I am invited explicitly to do it by the author.  In cases of spoilers, the attempt has always been to add some conversational commentary or speculation to help spur conversation.

As a result, some people complain that this site is not the cut and paste hub it used to be.  By using Fanpop we’ll not only be adding to thetailsection’s content base by bringing more of that ‘found in the wild’ LOST news coverage, but if you have a fanpop profile you will be able to submit news yourself.  I’m really psyched that FanPop actually has the technology to bring this sort of a community driven feed to sites like this.

If you are concerned that this is going to be a big change, don’t be.  I’m designing a box for ‘the purge’  which will keep that content prominent, but out of the way of the content that you come to expect.

Again, this is not meant to replace the Myspace group, we continue to support that, but I hope you will come join us at Fanpop!  And stay tuned for more features related to our Fanpop Spot!
