   Bullet point 1: Judging from the screen shot of the Portuguese copy of Catch-22, I almost want to think Naomi has something to do with the guys in the listening post. Part of Widmore’s organization? Or maybe just a hapless traveler?

   2: If it’s a Dharma chopper, why perpetuate the idea that Dharma is defunct? Unless it’s just the writers throwing us for a loop, making us think the Initiative breathed its last, while it’s still secretly working on the island.

   3: I think Desmond may be unwittingly putting lives in danger. I get the feeling he’s not really sure what he saw, but is intrigued enough by it to risk peoples’ lives in order to solve his puzzle. We need to remember that of all people, Desmond really has something he wants to get back to in the outside world.

   4: The idea of Desmond as a monk is kind of weird to me, but he’s such a strange character, that I’m willing to accept the weirdness. I guess we’ll have to wait to find out about his army days, so I’m very interested to see where this whole priest thing fits in his timeline. I want to think we won’t see a lot of time travel in Des’s flashbacks, and that “Flashes” was a novelty episode (although a really cool one). I’d rather see more about his real character, than about him trotting through timelines.

   well, DarkUFO has episode breakdowns up right now, and I have to say they seem legit.
   That said, there are some crazy changes headed our way, season 4 could be a radical departure from the status quo. I frankly welcome it, I’m really digging how the show is maturing.

   Is there a chance that Naomi was meant to be Desmond’s replacement in the Swan? Nah prob not, from the spoilers we’ve heard… Well she knows something about the flight, and I’m believing the theory that it DID land safely or was found elsewhere, which is why another spoiler said that Claire later asks the question “WHO are we?”. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out.
   Also, I’m not so sure it’s patchy that shows up in the jungle. Another spoiler said it’s someone that we’d be “surprised to see in a Dharma suit”…. hm…

   I think what Naomi might tell them about the plane is that they found it the next day. Maybe the others somehow got another plane and they “found” it which is why people might have still not found it even after penelope found the island.

   What I’m wondering is whether the info Naomi has on the flight is that it crashed and was found (by the outside world) destroyed with everyone on board dead. ie. If everyone died in this timeline, what timeline’s plane crashed on the island? That to me would beg the question “Who are we?”

   I never hear anyone mention Desmonds comments from the scene with Jack in an old flash back (when they were running up the steps) and with Locke before he jumps in the hole to turn the key, when he says “see you in another life”. Seems he has been doing this cycle more than 2 or 3 times. Does this make sense or am I way off? Please comment…..Brother!

   Ok, I’m not a forum person so to warn you this post is about Danielle so just skip this if you want since this is not one of the big questions right now. I was wondering what role she plays other than crazy woman on the island. I think Danielle is/was either Dharma or Ben is holding her daughter over her to get her to do what he wants. First, Dharma - the only thing I could remember was that she said one of her science partners lost his arm. I believe the man who does the Dharma films (whose name I don’t know) is believed to have a fake arm after looking at screen shots from past episodes. Not much, but maybe worth noting. Second, Ben - Danielle “caught” Ben in one of her traps. Instead of taking him and questioning him, as with Sayid, she gave him to the Losties. She also shot him with an arrow to give herself a kind of trust from the Losties that she was on their side. (The Others did the same thing branding Juliet to make Jack think she is not the same as the rest of the Others) Maybe Ben has threatened to kill Alex if Danielle doesn’t do what she is told and is thus an island spy. Sorry for putting this in the wrong place and also if any of this has been said before but that woman is really bugging me, haha.

    From all the information we have, which is primarily a Portuguese copy of Catch 22, we are all deducing that Naomi is connected to Penny’s guys at the listening station. I too, believe this to be true. But Penny would not associate Des’s location with that of the 815ers whether the wreckage had been found elsewhere or not. She is looking for someone who was alone on a sailboat. So, the fact that Naomi has information regarding the flight as well is very intreguing. The only reasonable explaination I can come up with is that Hurley or Charlie says that they are the survivors of 815 and Naomi remembers hearing, seeing or reading that the wreckage had been found with no survivors.

    Well here’s an idea Gusteaux, what if what we are watching is the universe as it was changed by Desmond. For instance, what if Desmond didn’t just return after he was hit by the cricket bat, but went on with his life aware of his ‘Destiny’. He could have altered what happened with 815.

    chopper prediction: The island is only accessible in very short windows, and not at all from the surface without the buoy. So Naomi has been flown in by Penny’s team with the mission of reconnecting the buoy so they can, in turn be saved.

    long term: Since Desmond looked disturbed, we know the chopper shouldn’t be happening. Somehow connecting the buoy or the death of a character is going to ‘extinguish’ the time line in which Penny found the island. Only possible if the ‘loop’ theories are valid, I think…

    There are two photogapahs of Des and Pen. There should only be one. In a previous loop, Des brought the photo with him when he left Pen. When the hatch imploded and the tear in the fabric of time occurred, a dual timeline began to exist. The photograph that Des has changed the event log. Also, if the wreckage of 815 was found with no survivors in the timeline in which Pen currently exists, the 815ers will never be able to leave the island. Pen may be able to cross into the island timeline, since she was outside it when the implosion occurred. And she should be able to go back out. I’m not sure if Des can leave or not, but he will have to give his copy of the photo back to Pen so she can take it back with her to the timeline she came from. The photo is the object of change at this point.

    hmm… LiLi as a point. And Michael and Walt have supposedly already left the island… so how did that work.
    And that talk about Danielle up there has made me think a bit… Why hasn’t Danielle ever attempted to get her daughter back? How come when she caught Ben, she didn’t question him about her daughter, or demand to get her back in exchange for his freedom, or something like that? And WHO took Alex in the first place? It couldn’t have been Ben, or she’d remember him and go absolutely freaking nuts (well moreso than normal) upon catching him.
    She’s one character that I just can’t figure out… But I’d really like some answers when it comes to her. She better not die soon.
    And the cable that sayid found in season 1… I thought it had led to Danielle’s… maybe I’m wrong. I know he had gotten caught in one of her traps, but I thought I remembered him trying to follow the cable…

    There’s a few possibilities, LiLi. Here are the two that jump out at me, I’m sure others will have better ones to add.

    1) Scenario: There’s no parallel universes/timelines and some group of people have somehow faked wreckage for the outside world to find and assume to be Flight 815.

    1a) Result: Ben’s promise to send Jack back was honest. This has nothing to do with Jack dealing with the difficulties of being assumed dead. Ben has nothing to worry about as Jack seem like a crazy person and nobody will believe his story.

    or

    1b) Result: Ben’s promise to send Jack back is either empty or it’s truth rests on a technicality, such as “I never said where ‘home’ is” or “I said I’d send you home, not that you’d get there.” Regardless, Jack never gets home (by Ben’s actions, anyway).

    2) Scenario: Parallel timelines/dimensions. There are multiple Flight 815s, one or more of which beyond our “known” 815 have crashed somewhere else, successfully landed, had different passengers, etc. Tough to say what at this point, but let’s assume there’s another 815 and it’s different somehow.

    2a) Result: similar to 1a. Jack gets to go home but not necessarily in his own timeline or dimension. Ben has kept his word, which involved nothing to do with whether or not Jack would have an easy time of things when he got ‘home’.

    2b) Result: similar to 1b. Ben’s lying or there’s some technicality, and the sub never reaches Jack’s intended destination.

    Sayid followed the cable into the jungle and got caught in one of Danielle’s traps, so we don’t know where the cable terminates in the jungle. The other end, if we can trust that Mikhail was telling the truth about everything else beyond his DHARMA membership, is said to lead to the sonar beacon off the shore of the island.

    damn I just read a comment from DarkUFO’s page, and somebody thinks that the “shocking” news about the plane crash is that Naomi will say that their plane went missing years ago or just the day before (the timing stuff gets me confused, as it does this person). that makes logical sense to me if someone tells her that they crashed 80 days ago or whatever. that doesn’t explain claire’s “who are we?” though… hm…

    oh, and doc, I love your buddytv articles, but how the heck did DarkUFO get a hold of that first? You should have posted the link on here for us to marvel at right away!

    I don’t see Desmond as a monk as being out of character in terms of the “original timeline”. In “Orientation”, he performed the sign of the cross before attempting to turn the Swan computer back on.

    He also gave the impression of being religious during his encounter with Jack in Los Angeles in “Man of Science, Man of Faith”, with his belief in miracles. Henry Ian Cusick initially believed that Desmond was an angel, per a video I saw on youtube with Jimmy Kimmel and the Lost cast.

    And then there are the Latin notations on the blast door map. If Desmond was a monk, specifically Catholic, he could very well have learned Latin, and we don’t know who specifically wrote those notations, and they seem to have been written by someone in the same mental state we saw Desmond in during his flashback of Locke pounding on the hatch.

    Well, IIRC, Jeff Jensen’s the one who told us that that phrase would seem much, much more important after the next couple of episodes. Don’t forget Jeff Jensen spins out elaborate theories like nobody’s business. His view of the episodes could be affected by this. OTOH, it could just not be so incredibly simple and he could really be on to something for once.

    Just Wanted to throw something out there:
    Dharma cannot be disbanded (or disbanded for long):
    A) because of the pallet drop in season 2. Granted much of that food had a long shelf life, it couldn’t be THAT long. Plus, someone or something had to drop it, and whatever it was had to be somewhat maintained.
    B) the washer and dryer in the Swan Station. very modern.

    Yes, finally back to Desmond. There is so much to his story that we’re not in on yet. Dr. Deshatten will be very important in the end game. You are right about the photo Gusteaux. There is something to that photo. Doc, I like the idea that he continues his life even after the whack in the bar with an all knowing demeanor. If he flashed back into his past consciousness, then the timeline in which the flashes began still exists. There was a book someone mentioned on thetailsection that deals with time travel. In the book if something is brought with the traveler that was not in the original timeline, then he would become naked upon entrance (the picture is the object) into that timeline. Remember naked Des emerging from the hatch post explosion?

    We know from “Donnie Darko” that a tangent universe cannot coexist with the actual universe forever. In “Darko” Donnie must come to terms with his death. He learns through Frank the bunny that the creation of the tangent universe has a snowball effect of tragedy. He goes to bed at the key moment (airplane engine falling from the sky) and quietly accepts the hand of fate. What if in the tangent universe Des doesn’t turn the key? Remember he ran away when they found him. Perhaps in the tangent universe he doesn’t come back. Everything after that would have ceased to exist. The island then shows Desmond (while drinking and drifting at sea) that he must accept his fate or POOF, everything ends. At the moment he finds out that he causes a magnetic anomaly that brings the plane down he realizes that he did not go crazy. The visions he was shown were real. He rushes to turn the failsafe and says to Locke in all knowingness, “See you in another life brother.” The island then grants him the gift of his flashes and then life. His nakedness is showing that he is reborn of the island, and the picture let’s him (and us) know that it all was quite real…

    I;m thinking that given the title of the episode, the fact that the writers list Catch-22 as one of their all time favorite books, and Desmond at some point being locked up that perhaps in his army day he was either a Yosarian, or more likely, the priest in Catch-22 as this huge running thought process about Deja-vu, I’m trying to remember the exact passage but it goes between nesque-vu, presque-vu, and of course deja-vu, he explains all in entirety, but I can’t remember the exact definitions of each.

    cap: Good point with Donnie Darko, but remember that Darko’s rules of time travel come from a fictional book inside the movie. The best example it serves is that the writers of LOST can cook up their own rule. None of this is to say that the LOST writers might not ‘borrow’ some rules from DD.

    Naomi is clearly a scout sent by Penny Widmore to investigate the island.

    Dumb question. Remember waaay back when they were doing the promos for the second half of season 3? I could have sworn in one of the quick clips you could see and hear a helicopter. I assumed I was going nuts because there had been no sign of said helicopter in the first few episodes when the show came back.

    I’m hanging with gusteaux. I think in the alternate time line the 815′rs are dead. I thought of another wrinkle to that as well. What if there is going to be a merging of threads at some point, one way or the other, and choice is involved. Particularly by Desmond. Desmond is not going to sacrifice the lives of everyone he knows on the island for his love of Penny. He would sacrifice himself, but no one else. He is, after all, a man of honor. His pain with Mr. Widmore was not that he wasn’t fit, but that Mr. Widmore would never see him as fit.

    I think the look on des face is about the catch 229 moderen day meaning kind of dammed no matter what you do)So he decides to do nothing to change events because he thinks no matter what he dose something bad will happen and thus picking the lesser of the evils.

    Helicoptor, can travel over oceans if they are close enough to a base that can launch shuch as a ship or even another island.

    Dharma initiave is still alive and well and the Others are not part of it (or at least as far as they know) the in ability to have children was introdused on purpose to see how the Others would respond or as a way to controll the expriment. While the others think they are duping Dharma it is other way around.

    I think the shock about 815 is that it had crashed only a day to a few hours ago in Real time and this was also done for the reason of having time compressed experiments.

    I think the hand in the dharma suit is Danielle, and she really was part of a research tea and their ship did
    in fact crash, but it crashed on the island they were heading to, her team was overpowered by the others and she has been hiding waiting for reinforcements and sending observations to Dharma off the island.

    The people in Heli are not there to rescue 815 but to fix problems they have cause in the experiment, and thats the catch 22 they cant remove them because of impact already on the experiment and they cant just leave them.

    Other theory is the helicopter is part of a search and rescue and it crashes and the reveal will be that they have only been searching a short time.

    I don’t buy into this alternate reality stuff. There is just an overwhelming biblical allegory here…there has to be something to it.

    Examples:

    1. Jacob - Father of Ben (Benjamin), Twin (good) to Esau. The only person in the bible that God says he loves.

    2. Christian Shepherd - yeah, you get that one.

    3. Aaron - Brother of Moses.

    4. Sarah (Jack’s Mother) - Wife of Abraham

    5. Rachel (Juliet’s Sister) - Wife of Jacob

    6. Adam & Eve in the cave

    7. Herarat - maybe it’s not an anagram for Earnhart, maybe it was meant the place where Noah’s Ark landed.

    8. Naomi - Mother of Ruth

    9. Desmond’s “rebirth”

    Yes, I could be reading too much into this!
    But it seems that the Lost writers have gone to great lengths to add these biblical references into the story.

    Currently I like the idea that Jacob is Jack’s twin.
    Right now I think that Jacob is on the beach with the Losties, taking Jack’s place and helping Juliet.

    Well, TPTB have made it perfectly clear that the names do indeed have meaning in the overall scope of the show, so I see where you are going Abraham. One thing I’m wondering is, do we even know that Jacob is human for sure? What if Jacob is an acronym? J.a.c.o.b? Just a crazy diversion for you.

    There is one part of Jacob’s history that a lot of people miss when looking at his biblical significance… he was the first known geneticist. Particularly selective breeding. He altered the breeding of sheep and goats in a deal where he would receive any that bore certain markings.

    Remember, Esau and Jacob were not identical, but fraternal twins. Esau was red and hairy, Jacob was smooth skinned. If there are twins on the show, they do not have to be identical, we may have already met both of them without knowing.

    Also, Jacob wrestled with God. Possibly significant? Then there is the stairway to heaven (not of the Led Zepplin kind).

    Helicopters are not long range vehicles. It would have either been launched from an offshore vessel or another part of the island(s).

    If it were part of the island, it could the Dharma headquarters. The Lost Experience made it clear that the Dharma Initiative was research that had been defunded years ago. There is no more Dharma Initiative, but it seems that the participants of the Initiative were continuing not knowing what had happened on the outside.

    We know that Widmore and his Company had branded many of the Dharma items (ie: the pregnancy test that Sun took). It could be that Dharma on the island was continued by Charles Widmore after its defunding by the Hanso foundation as a part of his extensive plan to keep Desmond and Penny away from each other.

    Now that communication has been severed from the island to the outside, the observer, Naomi, makes an appearance. She would now be in the same predicament that the rest of the castaways are in, and need help. She would have been up to date with outside news to the point of activation of the failsafe.

    If she jumps out of a helicopter and parachutes down, who’s flying the helicopter?

    Shellbugg, I’ll answer for nemesise197. There was considerable emphasis on Ben’s remark to Juliet when viewing the video: “Yes, that is the correct date.” Sept 22, 2001.

    Either that was said to confirm that this is not staged but at the time that she would expect, or it was said in anticipation of her disbelief that the date was correct, that the outside would is either moving more slowly or more quickly than she anticipated.

    I think the characters have been brought into an alternate timeline where the plane never crashed. After being hit in the head with the cricket bat, Desmond went back to Penny, never went to the island, never pushed the button, never crashed the plane, and never turned the key. But now he feels like he made a big mistake. He’s the one searching for the island, not Penny. We’ll revisit the scene of Penny getting the phone call from the listening station, and we’ll realize Desmond is in bed next to her (this would explain how she has the picture of her and Des at the marina scene).

    The season finale “Through The Looking Glass” will show what happens to Jack in the version of events where the plane never crashes. He goes to his father’s funeral, continues pining for Sarah, starts drinking (hinted in the pilot), and we’ll understand that these characters needed to be brought to this island.

    That’s my theory.

    More bible names used in Lost. According to Lostpedia there is also a Matthew, Luke and Adam among the Others. And Tom comes from Thomas like the doubting apostle. Mikhail is Micheal (but in Russian)which is in the bible and Paulo is Spanish for Paul. Mathias the guy from the listening station has a bible name he was the apostle who replaced Judas. John is also a bible name and James which is Sawyer’s real name too. And Naomi was Ruth’s mother in law not her mother. I think in the show Sarah was Jack’s wife though not his mother who is Margo not a bible name.

    Doc Arzt, Tabula Rasa and others:

    Many aspects of the island have been deliberate hoaxes and props put there by the Others- such as the tents and costumes- and i believe that the plane (and the submarine)are also props. I believe that all the losties were placed on the beach. They were not actually on that plane that crashed. This is what I think happened:

    The plane, the flight, was controlled by some organization that wanted them all on the island. After they all boarded the plane (think Disney simulated rides) it had a simulated take-off (think Disney simulated rides)and simulated turbulance (those simulated rides are awfully real). Then they were gassed and fell asleep. They were all then placed on the beach. The plane that went missing and broke up over the island was empty, so that all their families would believe they died on a plane crash and would not look for them. Certain people who were not needed for the island were killed straight off (the pilot, etc). they were all placed there by the organization that Juliette controls (since they realize she needs more experimantal women for her devious experiments since the Others, the Hostiles, are not enough for her)

    It seems to me that Juliette is part of another organization- perhaps a new Dharma, or one of the other organizations we have seen, and was deliberately sent to the Island to outwit Ben and gain all his secrets. I believe she fakes it every time she begs Ben to get off the island. she is involved in seriously strange stuff ,like creating life, cloning, or even raising the dead, for another organization.

    As far as the submarine, noone ever got to the island on it- that was a useless piece of junk placed there for show by the others.

    So far I’ve seen some great speculation. I think everyone has some great ideas and I just want to say that this is why I come to this site. Period. Good stuff like this.
    I think that what we’ve seen so far is exactly what we should be believing. The exact time references are placed there as a guide for us. It anchors the current timeline.
    I agree that Des is time travelling or has time travelled. What bothers me is that he “sees” how events play out and thereby, can stop them. But is he seeing the future or is he seeing a past that he’s already lived through?
    Because if he’s seeing the future, he has no idea if what he does will alter the outcome of his vision. But if he’s seeing a past that has already occured, he can alter it. which means he’s been through the “loop”. He’s been reborn each time and can come back and change the outcome. Which means he’s been through the loop several times.
    There are only 2 pictures. The first time through, Penny kept the picture. That’s why it’s on her bedside at the end of Season 2.
    Desond kept it the second time, which is why it’s in his possession on the Island.
    Depending on Des’s point of “rebirth” there is probably only the two pictures.
    If Naomi is carrying a picture of Desmond and Penny, it can only be acquired two ways: Either Penny gave her a copy, or Desmond gave her a copy.
    But that’s speculation that she’s carrying a picture at all. I do believe the Portugese book is a key that points at the guys in the hatch at the end of season 2, which points at Penny.

    I’ve said it on here before but I agree with Cap10: Penny is looking for the anomoly that’s caused by Des turning the key.
    He told the entire story to his physicist buddy at the bar. His buddy must have retold the story to Penny when Desmond went missing during the boat race. This set Penny into motion into finding the Island.
    I also believe that Juliet and Desmond arrived on the island the same day. My proof is the fact that Des was in a terrible storm and Ethan said the last leg of the sub ride was pretty rough. That and the timeline of Des’s story and that of Juliet’s.

    HawaiiHeaven, that is good theory. You have great point, that many aspects of the island were staged. The others costumes. If there are so many things staged on the island, why not the crash?

    The writers also had their diversions to keep us guessing: the idea that they were all dead, the idea that everything was in Hurley’s head, or that it was related to Vincent. All of these were diversions to the nature of the island.

    I appreciated the Lost as an Allegory to 9/11, until that got a little old and ridiculous to continue. No offense to those that buy into that one.

    We all bring ourselves into the theories we project upon the show. We bring our experience, our own foundational beliefs, and our hopes into this show. Each theory is our own and precious to us. It also reflects a little bit about ourselves.

    I guess that means that Hawaii has trust issues and I suffer from schizophrenia.

    Seriously, I love it when people throw their ideas out there and we get a chance to discuss them. I have a feeling that when all is said and done, the experience of Lost is what we will appreciate the most about the show.

    I also agree with what was said earlier. The flight could have been simulated into a crash site somewhere by the folks who fund the Others. Just to make sure nobody was looking for 815. I think it did in fact happen.
    Think of it this way. The magnetic pulled the plane apart when Desmond failed to push the button. But once he pushed the button and caused it to work, the magnetic force pushed back against the falling plane, allowing it to hit the beach at a fairly safe speed. Or at least enough to diffuse some of the impact.

    Going off of what some of the people said, regarding Penelope looking for the magnetic anomaly due to what Desmond told Donovan in 1996, there is apparently an inherent paradox in this. In the scene, Penelope has her own copy of the picture. This could be explained as being before Desmond’s time travel occurred, but then if it were, then she wouldn’t have been told about the island and Swan station, etc. by Donovan. Hence the paradox. Otherwise, she would need to be looking for the magnetic anomaly for a reason other than Desmond’s foray into the past.

    The “course correction” philosophy would seem to suggest that there is only one timeline, because it appears to be following the Novikov self-consistency principle. But, it also applies to the future, apparently, suggesting that everything that will happen is written into stone. Desmond’s ability to see the future changes that (as opposed to simply unintentionally fulfilling his own prophecies through his actions), but, it seems like fate is acting as though Desmond is a time traveler with his interference, and the Novikov self-consistency principle keeps coming into play (trying to kill Charlie).

    My speculation is, since Desmond’s actions in the past would have been problematic if he did not end up on the island, fate appears to have prevented him from marrying Penelope and not entering the race. Which then leads me to believe that there may be an event in the future which hypothetically should play out with Charlie having died, but since Desmond staved off death up until that event, Charlie will be a wildcard that will alter the outcome of the event on an equal scale to Desmond turning the key, i.e., if Desmond weren’t there, the outcome would be entirely different*. I am thinking that the alleged upcoming scene with Charlie connecting electrical wires underwater may lead to something bigger.

    Hopefully, the time travel/precognition story will pan out in a way similar to this, because ultimately if it doesn’t, I feel the writers have really wasted Desmond on it. I didn’t think it made much sense that he didn’t accompany Kate, Locke, and Sayid to rescue Jack given his military and weapons training. Granted, they were captured, and if the Others captured Desmond, that would ruin the fact that he’s a wildcard, though since their communications are destroyed, they can’t get his information. Hopefully the writers make use of his wildcard status in some way in the future.

    *This line of thought is very curious, because unless Kelvin commits suicide prior to the crash of 815, which is a possibility, he would be there when Locke and co. arrives. But, Ms. Hawking stating everyone will die if Desmond doesn’t arrive suggests that Kelvin would either kill himself resulting in a magnetic build up, or that would happen for some reason otherwise. Perhaps the same scenario in the finale would play out, but Kelvin wouldn’t turn the key? As for Desmond’s sailboat bringing him back to the island, perhaps that was fate intervening much as it keeps trying to kill Charlie, rather than any physical property of the island.

    Gilver, Penny has the picture at the moment she gets the call. This could be explained two ways. The first is that there is one picture that two people in two seperate places own. This would support a dual timeline theory. The second is that Penny no longer has the picture, because we see her while Desmond is having his original “flash.” She has the picture up until the point that he (in his flash) all knowingly dumps Penny and keeps the picture for himself. At that moment the pic on Pen’s nightstand would not exist, as it is now in Desmond’s posession.

    Also, I don’t follow your inquiries on Kelvin. He did not commit suicide, nor was he alive when the 815ers arrived. He hits his head on the rocks in a struggle with Des and dies (supposedly). There has been recent speculation here that Kelvin is wondering the island in a sort of head trauma confusion…

    What I am saying is that every person we have seen get “on” the island- WAKES UP BEING on the Island. I believe that they are placed there, and it will one day be revealed exactly how they were all transported and placed there (plane, ship, .

    Desmond wakes up on the island. The Losties wake up on the Island. Juliette arrives at an airport and wakes up on the island. In a submarine. I do not believe that submarine ever moved. She was placed there, (and I believes that Juliette KNOWS that she was placed there because I think she had preknowledge of exactly where she was going because she is working for an organization that wanted to infiltrate the island.

    I believe that the plane that the Losties entered at the airport was not the plane that was seen breaking up and crashing. I believe that the plane they entered taxied to another hangar and they had a simulated ride (like a disney ride), then they were gassed and were placed on the island (which I think is not far from a land). I believe it is JULIETTE’s organization that arranged for more people to be placed on the island because she needs many more subjects for her experiments- devious experiments that need the powers of the island that she is duping ben and the hostiles to share with her, as well as being able to experiment on human subjects that they could never get permission for in any normal country (she actually USED her own sister as a guinea pig for one of her wacky experiments).

    That same organization sent Another, empty plane to taxi down the runawy as flight 815 and took off and crashed over the island to 1) make the world believe these passengers were dead and gone 2) make the hostiles believe that they just crashed there 3) to give juliette more subjects for her experiments and for her to manipulate to kill of the hostiles for her and her organization (a new resergent dharma? or one of the other organizations that have been shown)

    As far as I can tell, If you look closely at the picture of Des and Penny, they are different pictures. The hair of penny and her arm is slightly different. It is NOT 1 photo and two copies of the photo….Unless the consistantcy checkers messed up and had to reshoot the pic…..

    Which begs the question, was each picture taken on various time travel loops. In one loop Penny gets to keep the pic, next time Desmond does so he NEVER forgets her, knowing she plays a part in his future!

    The reason I think they were placed on the beach is I’d like to think that we wouldn’t be expected to believe that all those people, including children and a pregnant woman, simply survived with barely a scratch after falling from the sky. As I mentioned every person seems to WAKE UP being on the island. That is why i think they were gassed to sleep on the plane and then placed there . I think that the empty plane was supposed to crash after its pilot and crew parachuted to safety, but the disturbance from the island caused it to break up prematurely.

    I also cannot believe that juliette is merely a homesick helpless doctor. Her calm, cold, icy, calculating side that knows how to shoot, lie and fight belies her ditzy poor victim “ooh i miss my sister” side.

     Well, we’ll see, but still I think these losties entered a fake flight. They each had a ticket that led them to a Gate at the airport for a flight “815″ that, as I said before, was taken to a hangar and simulated (then gassed and placed on the Island).      I watched the season 2 finale last night and I thought of something. The company that recruits Juliette..its called “Mittelos” right. If you re-arrange the letters, it spells out LOST TIME. There was a scene in the jungle, with Walt, Sawyer, Kate, Jack, and Hugo where a very large bird swoops down on them. Time is an issue for sure in Lost, but nothing indicates that there is an actual problem with time on the island itself, other than the fact that in April 2007 I watched a TV show taking place in September 2004. In other words, the impression is created because time on the show does not mirror time in the real world.

     If you don’t want to be somewhat significantly spoiled, then stop here.

     After extensive research, I’ve come to the conclusion that the mysterious island in “Lost” is actually Howland Island. Yes, best known for the Island Amelia Earhart never made it to, the facts reveal that it is between Fiji and Hawaii and is an ‘unorganized territory of the United States’. Also, basic examination of simply Wikipedia pictures of Amelia Earhart, and the character Amelia (one of the others) shows extreme resemblance between the two. Using this theory, down the line they could simply explain the disappearance of Earhart and the absence of her transmissions. Take it for what it’s worth.
