Official Lost Podcast Recap: 3/20/07
We’ll jump right into what I thought were the most important facts of this weeks podcast:
- They are writing the last four episodes of the season at this moment.
- Claire and Jack have the same dad.
- Mikhail tells the entire truth in his recounting of the history of the island, besides the fact that he is Dharma. But of course, history is written by the winners.
- Dharma did call the Others the hostiles.
- The Others wiped out the Dharma people in a kill-or-be-killed situation, as it appears right now.
- They throw footballs around in the writers room, until one fateful day with Carlton’s teacup.
- ‘The Man from Tallahassee’ will explain why Jack is cooperating with the others.
- The ping pong game was inspired by the ping pong table outside the writers room where many of the littler, more amusing stories are broken.
- Locke realizes that it’s time to think about himself and his own interests which could be a part of why he is acting how he is.
- Carlton asks if Locke really kill Mikhail? This could be meant in two ways, one putting doubt into out minds that Mikhail actually died there, and the second way asking if Locke knew Mikhail would die when throwing him at the fence (murder or accident). Damon thinks Mikhail is dead.
- They are really on an island.
- Ms. Klugh (an interesting character) and Pickett may be returning in a flashback.
- The Others are dying at quite a fast rate because of the losties.
- There’s a good argument to say that John wanted to destroy the Flame station and did it on purpose. Explanation forthcoming.
- Locke destroyed the transceiver of Sayid… Why?
- There is a Nikki and Paulo episode next week. With Boone and Shannon in it.
- Him is Jacob. Ben is talking about Jacob when he was being tortured in the hatch.
- The Others didn’t know about the Swan for a long time. Ben’s skepticism was genuine.
- There is an answer buried in the Nikki/Paulo flashback. A big mythological question answered.
So there you have it. One more recap. Where does this leave us? Him and Jacob are the same person, at least the one Ben is referring to. What about when Desmond asks Locke, “Are you him?” Are they talking the same him? Why would that him want to see Desmond? A very apparent fact has been made clear, also. The Others are dropping like flies. Klugh, Mikhail, Pickett, Ethan and Goodwin just to name a few. Is it time for more recruitment? Was the barracks a Dharma installment the Others took from the Dharma people, and if so, where did the live before that. Other than that, I can’t wait for tonight’s episode and I’ll talk to you all later. Feel free to post your own questions here. Maybe answer some of mine. I’d really love that.

Desmond was asking Locke if he was his replacement, just as Kelvin asked the same of Desmond when he arrived (I think). Not the same “him”.

wasn’t the “him” desmond was referring to supposed to be his Dharma replacement? He initially thought that Locke was the one there to take over pushing the button.

I’m not so sure the others wiped out DHARMA. I’ve been leaning heavily towards the others actually being DHARMA. It would certainly explain why Ben is in the wheel chair and Locke is not. DHARMA/the others are the reapers, while Locke is there to sew. That means the natives would be this elusive third group we’re speculating on. Also, if I remember correctly didn’t Des ask Locke the snowman question? This would mean he thought it was the man Kelvin was waiting for. However this could have dual meaning, as I believe Locke to be the island’s savior…

Cap’s… im with u on that … Locke is the island’s savior, and we will follow him whenever the man goes…

Also, didn’t Sun pop Pickett’s lady friend? That’s why he was so hungry for vengeance against Jack, et al., right? Funny, though, that so far Sun doesn’t seem too scarred by the fact that she gut-shot someone at close range.

I am also leaning towards the fact that the Others are part of the Dharma Initiative. Last nights episode they showed that Dr. Alpert was on the island with the Others. And if I’m not mistaken, he was trying to recruit Juliet [7th episode]. So maybe they are part of Dharma.

Major Others Killed:
Goodwin, Ethan, Colleen, Picket, Mikhail, Klugh
Minor Others Killed:
Teenaged Female Other (Ana-Lucia), Asian Male Other (Sawyer), Two Male Others (Eko)
Thats 10 all together…which is actually a lot more than the Others have killed survivors.
As for Locke destroying the transiever…that was answered way back in “The Greater Good”. Locke didn’t want Sayid leading people to The Dark Territory and Radio Tower because he believed it was a terrible place.
As for the big mythological question answered, I think they insinuated it had something to do with the Others and their knowledge of the Swan…
