Number One on the Others best Seller List
Yet another appearance of Stephen Hawkings ‘A Brief History of Time’ tonight in LOST ‘The Man From Tallahassee’! What an episode, huh? On the easter egg front there were a lot of great literary references. Turns out Ben is a bit of a Stephen king fan after-all since he had a copy of ‘The Wasteland’ on his nightstand! Can’t get a clear enough cap to prove it yet, but trust me. It is there. Also if you look closely at this picture, you’ll no doubt see that there is a portrait of Juliet hanging on Ben’s living room wall. Hmmm. Can’t promise I’ll get through all the eggs tonight, but be sure to check back in the am! The box… As in Pandoras? If Smokey can read your thoughts and manifest them, is the box an actual collective consciousness? Sort of the soul of the world? I’m certain at one point in a previous episode Ben says, “I’ve been on this island ALMOST my whole life.” Now that we know he was born on the island, has he at some point been away from it? Is he the child of the Degroots? What is his actual history with Juliet (picture on the wall)? Are we watching DHARMA or natives? Jack vs. Locke? What is up with the man from Tallahassee (I think the thought that he’s Sawyer just got stronger)??????????????
THIS EPISODE WAS GREAT. I can’t imagine any haters on this one (but I’m sure they were just waiting for me to say that)…

Wow does he have a picture of every other?
Comment by Bigbenguy — March 21, 2007 @ 9:25 pm
Please get a close up shot of the framed pictures just to the left of the pillar in this shot. There are tons of pictures in that one frame that there may be clues or pictures of an other we didn’t assume to actually be an other.

The Man from Tallahassee was an amazing episode that gave a great deal of information and made the Others all the more compelling, which leads to a new headline:
“Have LOST’s critics lost it?” At the least they’re clearly missing out.

I agree with Lance. Lost critics suck! This episode rocked and I can’t wait to see what happens next. GOD, I LOVE THIS SHOW!!

The funny thing about The Dark Tower books, especially The Wasteland, is that they all deal with time/dimensioal travel. The Path of the Beam takes them through various worlds as they try to make it to The Dark Tower. Very interesting indeed…

The island is the womb of out earth. Shambala or Eden you might say (located deep within the Himilayas?). Life (as in souls/energy) on earth comes from the question mark (the box?). It’s a collection of energy that has passed from our world. When you die you enter this place (an alternate plane or what some call heaven). It’s not a fluffy place in the clouds, just another plane. Your energy can be recycled back into the world (a budhist idea). Also, our thoughts and actions emit energy (sort of like radio waves). This place also accounts for a collective consciousness (the force as George Lucas would say) which is the life blood of our physical existence. So far Smokey has not taken the form of a living being. Smokey is the protector of this higher plane of existence (as well as those which inhabit it). He is using the thoughts of the people on the island to use them for the good of the island by manifesting into someone that’s in the box (Jack finds the water, Ecko’s brother before Ecko’s pride got in the way). If the pilot was bringing the plane to the island (new recruits?) Smokey would have killed him because he would have brought them to the others (Smokey needed them). The Ecko death is a bit confounding, but Carlton said that was done somewhat clumsily (because of the actor’s discontent). Locke is Smokey’s man on the inside (which is why Locke believes he’d be okay when being dragged into a vent hole). Tonight we know that the island favors him. There is an enlightened race of ancient inhabitants of the island. Smokey wants them back. I guess my big question right now is who are the good guys, the others or the other others (natives)???

Well TMFT is most definitely Locke’s DAD!
I will have to say…..this episode ROCKED!!!
All the waste and fluff of the past few episodes were redeemed in this one.
1 - One thing is for certain. JACK knows the endgame now. He has to. If not then he is a complete IDIOT for taking nothing to understand everything. If which is the case, the writers have indeed LOST IT! THE ONLY WAY AT THIS POINT THAT JACK’s CHARACTER can be taken seriously from a viewers perspective is if off camera/screen Ben has told Jack who the others are, what the island is, why they are there, etc….
IF Jack willing accepted a ride on a submarine to god knows where without as much as a ticket of explaination then writers of this show have really suckered us fools into thinking these “characters” actually have cells in between the ears! No Doc this is not page 36 of chapter 4 of a 6 chapter book. The writers at this point have to have JACK knowing ALOT more from this point forward. this is not to say BEN hasn’t lied to him because he didn’t. The deal ‘when he leaves this island, his friends go free’….. He never stated that he wouldn’t prevent Jack from leaving (by allowing Locke to blowing up the sub)….misleading, deceptive, unethical yes but not lied.
2 - This is a question. What did jack whisper in Kate’s ear as he left? BTW, Juliet is much hotter than Kate….
3 - I blow my theory of Angels and Purgatory, not on the grounds of what the producers have said. Because I think they lie to cover the endgame. I blow my theory because I just can’t imagine Angels having Dharma beer in the fridge. Call me old fashioned Southern bred Baptist, but the thought of a beer drinking Angel just doesn’t jive!
4 - IF and I say IF, this is a story about faith vs science. It was either blown out of the water last night or heightened to a level no man could conquer.
To explain what I mean by the latter…..
Ben and crew had to have known they were coming on the plane. How could they have tracked down Locke’s Dad, kidnapped him, held him hostage and brought him to the island?
With Faith, has to come forgiveness and repentance. How can Lock have faith without first forgiving the man who shoved him out of 8 story building. My guess is lock Locke up in that room with his dad and we’ll see have forgiveness doesn’t live here ANYMORE! Hence the Ante in this faith game has just skyrocketed!
Yep this episode made me love Locke even more!

“Ben and crew had to have known they were coming on the plane. How could they have tracked down Locke’s Dad, kidnapped him, held him hostage and brought him to the island?”
They didnt kidnap John’s dad, it was “the box” that manifested him.
Last nights episode was by far my fav of the season. I’ve been DYING to see Locke and Ben together again, i’ll admit i was worried that the writers would rush the scene and hurry to blow up the sub. But my god was i wrong, they pulled it off perfectly, i loved every moment. Those two actors vibe so well together, bouncing back and forth off eachother, its a pleasure to watch them work. How about the great lines from that scene?
“I would say, I hope that box is big enough to imagine yourself a new submarine.” - Locke. lmaoo greatness at its finest.
and lockes rant about Ben not deserving to even be on the island was priceless. God forbit nething should happen to either character.

“Your a hypocrite, a farasee! You don’t deserve to be on this island, if you had any idea what this place really was, you wouldn’t be putting chicken in your refrigerator!” —-John Lock hahahha… the man is a marvel.
Comment by jimyy — March 22, 2007 @ 8:01 am
one more thing… did u notice what Ben said to John about the chicken? : “Sorry, I ate most of the DARK meat” cmonnn.. theres no need for a line like that unless it has meaning, the line speaks for it self.
Comment by jimyy — March 22, 2007 @ 8:07 am
jimyy it is Pharisee, not sure I understand the accusation. Pharisees were the Jewish cleric in the days of Christ. They were hypocrites for sure. My guess, Lockes sunday school lessons are coming out but is it really?
Yes Dark meat is higher in fat and slimy….
As for the box, I took it to be Bens retorical spiritual hash analogy. Not a literal box where ones mind/will comes up with stuff…..Time travel is easier to swallow than that!
Richard showed up here….he tracked down Juliet, killed her ex, brought her here…..why not Johns Dad?
Also, Ben’s comment of the sub never being able to come back….a lie to confuse/edge on and manipulate Locke or indeed his failsafe, perverbial ace in the back pocket?
Jacob is GOD or Penny’s Dad who has enough money to do ANYTHING.
Comment by thirdflr — March 22, 2007 @ 9:19 am
I can’t remember what book reference it was from, but someone on the island was reading it, and in that book there was a room, that once u go in u can manifest ur desires good or bad, but once u leave the room, u cant take it with u.
Yes it is very possiable that they went to kidnap johns dad. But its also possiable that the room or box does exsist (if theres a black smoke monster floating around shape shifting then any is possible).
“Yes Dark meat is higher in fat and slimy….” lol stop being a ball breaker thirdflr, i’ve read ur posts, i know u have to see that theres just something more to that line then the chicken. maybe a little easter egg to what kind of person Ben really is (dark side)?
Comment by jimyy — March 22, 2007 @ 9:26 am
jimyy - It wasn’t a joke….I swear. Ben is full of fat (dead weight) and slimy (dirty rotten, slimy, good for nothing bad guy…)
WHAT DID jack whisper to Kate as he left?
Comment by thirdflr — March 22, 2007 @ 11:23 am
Doc - who comes up with the artwork on the banners to this site……they look good!
Comment by thirdflr — March 22, 2007 @ 11:24 am
Thirdflr… he said “I promise I’ll come back for you” so touching, leme tell ya… that sub could fit everyone on it… no need to come back.
Comment by jimyy — March 22, 2007 @ 11:31 am
Fellas, I think we’re missing the boat with the dark meat reference. He was obviously referring to his longing for black men. I mean c’mon, am I the only one watching?
Seriously though folks, this “box” is really a huge game changer. I’ve already posted my first theory on it. What a fantastic hour of television though. I haven’t heard one hater yet. This gives me hope that the haters really are frustrated fans and not “Heroes” or “24″ or “Prison Break” fans looking for reasons why their favorite is better…

After some over analyzation of Ben’s portrait of Juliet it appears to be a wedding portrait. It seems they’ve been married. 3 years seems to be an awful long time to have been married and divorced already. Seriously though, is this another hint of time moving slower on the island???
